Review: Dr. Horrible - That was... not what I expected.
I watched Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog last night. (FYI - I believe today's the last chance to watch it for free.) And as the subject line indicates, I was left rather confused by it. I was reading a review over at The Hathor Legacy, and I'd have to agree with Carleena that one definitely has to read the whole thing through the lens of parody, and I would add satire as well.

The basic plot )

So, besides the satire that skewers everything and everybody, what's this all about? I'm putting out there that this is a commentary about American people and founding beliefs, American policy and government, and international terrorism. Hey, when I put forth an idea, I go big.

Cut for more spoilers. )

Phantasmagoria - Witch - short story
Here's a really short story (just under 1000 words) for episode 3, Witch.

Hope you enjoyed that little revisit to the sartorial side of Angel... :~))

Phantasmagoria - Welcome to the Hellmouth - another story
I'm going to risk the censure of our two mistresses at Phantasmagoria...

We're invited to post older material, and I'd intended to include this, a story that I wrote a while ago, which directly relates to the first episode. But, I forgot. Well, it's only a week and a half late, so I'm going to chance it...

Mirrors )

Hope you enjoyed the re-run.

Dr Horrible and the distinctive lack of a real life post
I WILL post at some point but I worked all day today and am too tired to be coherent. Sale makes me crazy.

Also, I am rewatching Dr Horrible before it is taken away from me as I cannot get it on Itunes. Damn UK itunes. Gah. I want to own it.

Anyway. going to collapse now.

Bits and bobs

I have done the homework and written a ficlet for the flash challenge for

[info]fantas_magoria

The episode of the week is The Harvest and the challenge was a photo of the things Buffy kept in her trunk. This is what I came up with.

I apologise for any errors. This is unbeta'd.

Bits and Bobs

Feed back, yes please.

“Quiet! She’s coming!”

Everything in the chest froze into the inanimate objects they were. The mistress of the box opened the lid and then lifted off the top tray to get at the sharp and deadly things beneath.  The objects in the tray breathed a sigh of relief when they were put back and the lid to the trunk was snapped shut.

“Phew! That was close,” the clock ticked.

“You should have been keeping time, that is what you’re supposed to do,” the cat grumbled, licking its plush fur.

“I can’t help it if the mistress keeps ungodly hours,” the clock whined, its cartoon face glaring at the cat.

“Hush! The Mom might be about.”

“As if you care,” sniped the pretty-in-pink autograph book, jealous of the recently acquired seashell. The book was bereft. No one had entered a signature for years. It wondered why it was here with all the mistress’s cherished things. It hadn’t been looked at in an age.

The silver trophy hummed to itself. It was held in high esteem. Its owner had won it in a cheerleader contest. It knew that it was top of the pile, so to speak.

“We all care,” muttered the goggles. It felt that it held a rare position in the box. It actually came in contact with its owner’s face. It clung to the mistress’s flesh when she was in hot pursuit of pretty seashells. “None of us want to be turfed out. If the Mom discovers the mistress’s hidden stash, we’ll all get the boot. Mom’s don’t think straight when they’ve been lied to.”

The basket yapped, “We don’t want the mistress to get into any more trouble than she is. She has enough to worry about.”

“She is the slayer, after all,” the clock reminded them all. “What will she do to us if she finds out we’re more than what we seem?”

“But she loves us,” objected the trophy. “She wouldn’t destroy someone she loves, would she?”

“I wouldn’t bet on it,” the cat meowed. “Love can be a fickle thing.”

The End.

*thinking cold thoughts*

It is insanely hot and humid here and BLEH.

Full house this week: Mr Star is down until next Friday and H's parents are here until Monday, and tomorrow her brother and his family are coming too. I like her parents, but don't care for her brother so I'm just sooooo disappointed that we won't be here to sit around and make awkward conversation. Mr Star isn't a schmoozy social butterfly type, nor is he particularly outgoing, especially around people that he doesn't know. Normally I don't mind being the outgoing one but it doesn't matter because we'll be on our way to Vermont for the weekend! We're leaving pretty early (Mr Star will drive the first leg so I can continue quasi-nocturnal hours) and even though my mom said it's hot in VT, it's not humid, thank god. Plus her idea of hot is low 80s; I'm not worried.

I've become entirely used to checking in on my peeps and flist updates daily, and I'll be without internet access, sigh. Have a good weekend everyone, see you all soon. *g*

Dr Horrible's Sing-Along Blog JOSS NPH FILLION OOOOH

OH MY GOD!!! WHEEE!

Conceived by Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon, "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog", a three-part musical miniseries, has become an online sensation since Part 1's release this past Tuesday. The traffic quickly crashed the server for free-view website drhorrible.com, and iTunes' downloadable version instantly became the No. 1 video.

It stars NEIL PATRICK HARRIS and NATHAN FILLION and Felicia Day (who I don't know played Potential Slayer Vi on BtVS). And JOSS WHEDON *conceived* it, so. YAY!

I'm watching it right now, and it's hysterical. There are two parts up now, and the third comes out on Saturday.

Emmy Nominations

So. BSG acting nominations? Zip. Poor Mary, she deserves so much better than this.

However, probably the most enjoyable and fast-paced eps of the season, Six of One, was nominated for Outstanding Writing in a Drama Series! And of course, I'm sure the pilotician smoochies in the episode helped the Emmy voters decide. *G*

I'm also strangely proud of Danny Strong who got a nom for his penning of 'Recount'. Go, Jonathan!

Ficlet - Rebirth
This is the first thing other than drabbles I've posted in months, so hopefully it's not completely suckastic.

This is for the community [info]fantas_magoria amd if you're you're not playing in that sandbox, well, why the hell not?

Unbetaed, so all missing commas are my own damn fault.
