Project Paranormal needs you.

Before I tell you why, I'm going to tell you a story.

Once a upon a time, there was a vampire, and he was the meanest…

Oh. Wrong story, sorry about that…

The BBC promised us a series that told of Giles' adventures as a Paranormal Investigator. We never got the series, and that's a shame because it sounded really cool. So I took that idea, added Buffy and Angel as 'his muscle' and decided to run with it. The paranormal has some brilliant stories to it, and that's what I felt the fandom lacked at that time. All I seemed to be able to find was introverted angst and character studies, but I wanted action, and I wanted plot. From that basic idea, Project Paranormal was born.

But the story doesn't end there, because I needed people to write it. Most Virtual Series' have a set team doing the writing - but I wanted something different. I wanted to open the storytelling up to the widest group of writers that I could, because I felt the series could only benefit from the variety. At that point, I found out why so many Virtual Series collapse in a Big Heap. Because it's damned Hard Work. It's hard to organise batches of stories to make sense, to be interesting, consistent, and also to be regularly updated.

Fortunately, I have a wonderful supporting team, and I have had marvellous contributions from some of the best writers in the fandom. Without both of those, Project Paranormal would never have got this far.

I love Project Paranormal. Everyone who writes for PP loves it. I know many of you love it, too. But we aren't supermen (or women!) No matter how much we care - We need Writers. We simply can't write fast enough, and if something doesn't change soon, I fear PP will go the way of many others and just not be here anymore.

If you've got this far, I'm hoping by now that you are thinking - What can I do to help?

If you write, would you consider doing a story for us? I'm not asking anyone to join the team full time - though that would be excellent - I'm just asking for A Story. One. If I can get, say, eleven people to contribute one story a season, that's half a season already taken care of and will make it so much easier for us to fill in the gaps.

Usually, the next questions people ask are: Am I good enough and how do I know I can do what you want?

If you have questions, you might like to check out our new Q&A on this subject, or you can ask me or any or the current writers - we will all be very happy to answer any questions that you have. Anyone who has a story over at Scribes, anyone who has already written for us, and anyone I've previously asked would all be given automatic acceptance because I already know that you could do the type of story we are looking for. Anyone else - just ask. A few of you have asked, but sadly weren't compatible with what we wanted at that time. If you are still with us - Thank You. It took courage to put your name forward, and there is absolutely no shame in not making it through. It does mean an awful lot that you tried, though - it shows us how much you cared.

If you don't write - or don't have time now - you can still help, because you read. You know the people you love to read - tell us about them. We are looking for those that write for any of the three main characters and do a bit of plot too. If you know them well enough to talk to them - even better - ask them to contact us. Please.

It's well known that we are always looking for new writers for the series. If you think you can help us out in that area, we would love to hear from you!

We have also had people who don't write offer to help as well. Mostly, they don't know what it is they could do, but they love PP and would like to contribute in their own ways. That's really nice that you feel like that.

So here, I'm trying to gauge what kind of interest there would be in something along those lines, and I would like you to make a comment, or contact me, if you would be willing to offer your services. If you have particular skills you think might be useful, or have something specific in mind, tell us about it. You will not be committing yourself to anything by posting.

Project Paranormal is back! Thanks to Mike's diligent efforts, we have our site back. Isn't he a gem? It might be a little while until we do another update, because I have other sites that need tending to, but the stories are back in place.
