Hi all – a reminder that the last part of Project Paranormal is waiting for your comments. A lot of you have said you’ve put off reading it because it is the last one. Don’t put it off any longer!

Ought But Death was written by [info]librarian2003

If you missed the first part of the finale, you can find it here:
End of Days was also written by [info]librarian2003

It has been a huge pleasure to work on this series. I've met some wonderful people - many of whom have gone on to become friends, and I hope a few more will be added to that total, too.

Project Paranormal lasted for four years, and I'm very proud of that. I'm proud of every single story we've posted, and I'm proud of the achievement in creating the site in the first place.

Most virtual series' have been written by a small band of dedicated writers. I wanted to do something more ambitious with PP and include guest writers into our team and still keep the basic PP framework intact - and that was something I'd never seen done or even knew if it could be done. I felt the series could only benefit from the diverse styles and types, and it worked far better than I would have imagined possible. The key, of course, was to get really good writers and helpers together in the first place. So, without these wonderful people, there would have been no PP at all.

First I need to say a very special thank you to Mike, Becks. [info]librarian2003, and [info]ares132006, – the four people without whose help Project Paranormal would never have got this far. Details of their help, well above the call of duty, are given below.

Project Paranormal began with a core of five writers. These lovely ladies - [info]librarian2003,[info]gatwickthecat, [info]cornerofmadness, Becks, helped me to set up the series, and I really couldn’t have done it without them.

Authors are listed in the order that they’ve appeared in the series.

[info]librarian2003 - This lady has been my rock. She’s been there to help, soothe, and advise at every step of the way – for many of our writers, as well as myself. Her stories are always well thought out and she wrote both the pilot story and the final story, bringing the whole series round in a full circle. I’m well aware that I worked her far too hard.

[info]gatwickthecat. After the pilot story, and my first story, Lisa got the unenviable job of trying to piece together the random thoughts and ideas we - at that time - were still formulating. She did an excellent job on her story, in very difficult circumstances. A very well travelled lady, and her no-nonsense approach have been of great assistance to us on the series.

[info]cornerofmadness has won many awards for her fabulous fiction, and rightly so. Sadly, she left us far too early and I would have loved to read more of her well researched stories about the UK’s myths and legends - something I felt she was particularly suited for.

Becks was the very first person I discussed the PP idea with. She helped set up the series, she wrote some beautiful stories, and she provided the voice of the younger person and kept us old fogies on our toes. Since leaving PP, her input is still invaluable. She’s listened when I’ve had a PP problem and was always there to discuss ideas and plots. She provided much help and advice while setting up the PP LJ, and yes, the lovely graphics are hers, too.

[info]chrisleeoctaves was the first additional writer to join us, she volunteered to help immediately. She is a very popular and talented lady, and a real people person – something I’ve always envied her for. Well, that and her ability to write wonderful stories, that is…

[info]gia6seconds offered to help, and I promptly dropped her in at the deep end with a request for an immediate story because somebody had let me down. Apparently unruffled, her brilliant story materialised in next to no time – not an easy task considering she was using an unfamiliar framework.

[info]ares132006 joined in season 2, and it is mainly due to her prolific efforts that Project Paranormal has run so smoothly. Her incredible ability to turn out wonderful stories at the drop of a hat has saved my bacon many times, and her willingness to help in any way she can has been greatly appreciated.

[info]bashipforever - her stories are always a pleasure to read. She’s a sweet lady who clearly loves the B/A dynamic, and she managed to weave it very neatly into a lovely Cornish legend.

Bisi asked to join the series when we were discussing another of her stories. As somebody who was familiar with the West Country, it was a wonderful stroke of luck to find her, and of course we welcomed her with open arms.

[info]dal_118 was a little reluctant to join us at first but ended up as a supportive and valued member of the team. She helped behind the scenes a fair bit and advised us when our Buffyspeak went a bit too British!

[info]married_n_mich quickly became a valuable asset to our group of writers and provided quite a few of our stories. A cheerful person, always ready and willing to help, she’s never failed to produce a great story for us.

Renee had only been writing for three months when I approached her. Her lovely sense of humour shone through in her story and it has been a pleasure to have her on board.

Mike’s the magician behind our site. He’s provided the lovely site graphics and wonderful downloads, including wallpapers, icons, our own theme tune and ringtone. On top of that, he’s provided technical support, helped with plot ideas and site suggestions and written a story for the series, too.

[info]garnigal, was recruited at Writercon by some our writers, and fortunately liked the concept enough to contact me and offer her services. I’m so glad she did, because both of her stories were wonderful additions to our series.

[info]adjovi was drawn into the fold by one of our members and her interesting voodoo debut was just the start of her involvement in PP. I particularly loved the gleeful way she attacked the Angelus arc. It was a pleasure to have her with us.

[info]southernbangel I know she is a big fan of Project Paranormal, and she told us she was thrilled to be asked to join. In truth, we were thrilled to have her, and her superb story was certainly a credit to the series.

Landrews, who raced gallantly to the rescue when she heard my desperate cry for more writers. I’d been trying for a long time to get this lady on board, and I’m so thrilled that she decided to take part.

Kara arrived, quite literally, at the last minute. The decision to close PP had been made but her offer of a story was too tempting to turn down. She slotted so smoothly into the PP network that you’d never know she hadn’t been with us before. It is regrettable we didn’t come across her earlier – she’d have been perfect for us.

I would also like to thank three other people. My poor husband, who put up with my tears and tantrums when things didn’t go smoothly, and came up with endless story suggestions and plot ideas. [info]ljgould, who joined us late but who helped and discussed on all kinds of levels – without doubt, an unsung hero. [info]grizz72, who provided a couple of super poems that can be found on our Lost Files.

And finally, I want to thank you, the reader, for loving and trusting us. Without you, there would be no point to Project Paranormal at all.

It’s been a fantastic four years!

The last ever story from Project Paranormal. The final part has been wonderfully written by [info]librarian2003, and I think this thread ought to be for your comments on her story.

If you have any comments about PP in general, feel free to make a new post here. In addition, we are thinking of running a Q&A post shortly to make sure you have the answer to whatever burning question is on your mind.

And if you want to see us off in style - take a look at my previous post, and maybe take part in the Project Paranormal Ripple.

Thank you.

The Project Paranormal Ripple

This weekend is the final part of the Project Paranormal series. It’s been one hell of a ride, and I will be very sorry to see it go. A lot of you have told me that you have appreciated our hard work over the last four years and I wondered if you would like to give us a proper send off.

If you’ve enjoyed, read, written or otherwise been involved in Project Paranormal, could I ask you to do a little post in your LJ’s, forums, websites, here at the PP LJ, or whatever..? You can tell us about your favourite stories, authors, story arcs, and characters – or just say goodbye. It’s hard for us to see what kind of impact – if any – we’ve made to the fandom, and it would be nice to see if we can make a small ripple in the fandom pond.

Oh, and if you could let us know about the postings so we can go and see – that would be wonderful.

After the final story goes up, there will be a couple of extra LJ posts the fans might be interested in, so watch out for those, too.

*Sniff….. *

Project Paranormal needs you.

Before I tell you why, I'm going to tell you a story.

Once a upon a time, there was a vampire, and he was the meanest…

Oh. Wrong story, sorry about that…

The BBC promised us a series that told of Giles' adventures as a Paranormal Investigator. We never got the series, and that's a shame because it sounded really cool. So I took that idea, added Buffy and Angel as 'his muscle' and decided to run with it. The paranormal has some brilliant stories to it, and that's what I felt the fandom lacked at that time. All I seemed to be able to find was introverted angst and character studies, but I wanted action, and I wanted plot. From that basic idea, Project Paranormal was born.

But the story doesn't end there, because I needed people to write it. Most Virtual Series' have a set team doing the writing - but I wanted something different. I wanted to open the storytelling up to the widest group of writers that I could, because I felt the series could only benefit from the variety. At that point, I found out why so many Virtual Series collapse in a Big Heap. Because it's damned Hard Work. It's hard to organise batches of stories to make sense, to be interesting, consistent, and also to be regularly updated.

Fortunately, I have a wonderful supporting team, and I have had marvellous contributions from some of the best writers in the fandom. Without both of those, Project Paranormal would never have got this far.

I love Project Paranormal. Everyone who writes for PP loves it. I know many of you love it, too. But we aren't supermen (or women!) No matter how much we care - We need Writers. We simply can't write fast enough, and if something doesn't change soon, I fear PP will go the way of many others and just not be here anymore.

If you've got this far, I'm hoping by now that you are thinking - What can I do to help?

If you write, would you consider doing a story for us? I'm not asking anyone to join the team full time - though that would be excellent - I'm just asking for A Story. One. If I can get, say, eleven people to contribute one story a season, that's half a season already taken care of and will make it so much easier for us to fill in the gaps.

Usually, the next questions people ask are: Am I good enough and how do I know I can do what you want?

If you have questions, you might like to check out our new Q&A on this subject, or you can ask me or any or the current writers - we will all be very happy to answer any questions that you have. Anyone who has a story over at Scribes, anyone who has already written for us, and anyone I've previously asked would all be given automatic acceptance because I already know that you could do the type of story we are looking for. Anyone else - just ask. A few of you have asked, but sadly weren't compatible with what we wanted at that time. If you are still with us - Thank You. It took courage to put your name forward, and there is absolutely no shame in not making it through. It does mean an awful lot that you tried, though - it shows us how much you cared.

If you don't write - or don't have time now - you can still help, because you read. You know the people you love to read - tell us about them. We are looking for those that write for any of the three main characters and do a bit of plot too. If you know them well enough to talk to them - even better - ask them to contact us. Please.

Thank you!
