I know this community is dead as a doornail, but I wanted to share this because it made me think of the good old days.
"Prithee" is the word of the day.
This week's theme: words formed by contraction.
prithee (PRITH-ee) interjection
Please (used to express a request).
[Contraction of (I) pray thee.]
-Anu Garg (words at wordsmith.org)
"Probably it is because I am by profession a storyteller that I cannot resist a good tale, and it makes no matter if I end up telling it as a piece of fiction or as what calls itself truth. Just do not, I prithee, confuse me with a clam." The Specialist Said; The Sunday Independent (Dublin, Ireland); May 28, 2006.

Former Vice President and Academy Award nominee Al Gore has announced that he will sponsor a global warming awareness concert... twenty-four hours, live from major cities around the world... sort of a Live 8 thing, except focusing on global warming instead of poverty.
Behind the scenes is a new group called Save Our Selves (SOS), headed by Kevin Wall, Al Gore, Pharrell Williams, Maná, Cameron Diaz, and the MSN Network.

The concert is set for July 7 and will feature concerts on all seven continents; venues announced so far include:
Johannesburg, South Africa Shanghai, China Sydney, Australia London, England
Plans are being made for venues in the United States, Brazil, and Japan, and it is said that there will even be a venue in Antarctica, which would be the first ever rock concert on that continent.
Confirmed acts include:
AFI Akon Black-Eyed Peas Bloc Party Bon Jovi Corinne Bailey Rae Damien Rice Duran Duran Enrique Iglesias Fall Out Boy Faith Hill Foo Fighters John Mayer John Legend Keane Kelly Clarkson Korn Lenny Kravitz Mana Melissa Etheridge Paolo Nutini Pharrell Red Hot Chili Peppers Sheryl Crow Snoop Dogg Snow Patrol Tim McGraw
Rumored to appear are Coldplay, U2, and Oasis. More acts will likely be confirmed before the concert.
The concert will be broadcast on television, radio, and the internet, and it is predicted that it will reach over 2 billion people worldwide.

I figured y'all could help me with this question.
For some reason, the YouTube videos I've been trying to post on my LJ aren't showing up. I tried it with the post to journal option on YT, and I also did the embed, but they aren't working. Is there something else I'm supposed to do?

Head, meet Desk. *bang* Thanks.
Geez. And she'll probably win and all American flight attendants will have to take an entomology course so that they can identify any and all creepy crawlies they may encounter thirty thousand feet in the air.

| remember this? |

Can you remember a time before Justin Timberlake was bringing sexy back with Cameron Diaz by his side and a time before Britney Spears was shooting out babies fathered by an aspiring white rapper? Well, I do. I still can't help but think sometimes that if they'd have just worked out their problems, both of them would be more interesting today. They'd probably be a celebrity power couple.
Well, they both claim to have moved on and seem like they're happy now with their new spouses. But I am an idealist, so of course this is the sort of thing I think about at this time of the night morning.

"My very favorite thing to eat is white bread with big fat slices of tomatoes and that sandwich spread... you know, the kind with the relish in it... raisin bran with skim milk late at night... ice-cold condensed milk... I've been known to eat it straight from the can... with a spoon. I don't buy it anymore, because I can't stop eating it. My garden cucumbers, sliced crosswise and drizzled with honey from my bees... all kinds of potpies, especially rabbit potpies. Pierogies... cabbage pierogies cooked in a hot pan with a little brown butter... I can eat at least twenty of them. White bread with lots of butter... my mother's black-bottom pie. Anything Alexis makes is delicious, especially her coconut cake. She stacks it mile high and hand-grates the coconut."

-from The Best of Martha Stewart Living: Favorite Comfort Food
What's your favorite comfort food? What's the one thing that reminds you of your mother's cooking or your grandmother's house? What's one store-bought item that you could eat twenty of in a sitting? Let's talk comfort food.

I just saw the trailer for the new movie coming out called The Fountain, starring Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz. That movie looks good. I can't wait to go see it.

I'm also excited because Stardust, a movie adaptation of the Neil Gaiman novel, and Ashes to Ashes, Goldie Hawn's new project, are both slated for a 2007 release.
What new/upcoming movies appeal to you? Are you excited about anything coming out soon?
