Free Furniture! (etc)

Hey all! I just wanted to let you know about a couple of just started/upcoming furniture drives happening at the Princeton University campus. Depending on which, you can donate furniture and also get either free or low-priced furniture. All proceeds are given to charity!

Here are the basics that I know at present. I will further keep things updated at the following website: www.princeton.edu/~service/ecoreps.

1) Princeton Eco-rep Furniture Drive
May 16-23, at the Rocky and Wilson Reunions tents. Here is a link to the campus map http://www.princeton.edu/~pumap/. On the website listed above I put a link to a picture of that map with the locations circled.
Furniture is free! Please come see what there is. Moving assistance is available on Weds 5/23, definitely around campus, and possibly in the nearby area also but I am not sure. If you think you want assistance, email the contact on the website and see what she can do for you. Also, if there is furniture still left we might extend the dates for getting free furniture past May 23. I'll keep stuff updated on the website.

2) GSG (Graduate Student Government) Furniture Drive
June 5th and 6th. No moving assistance available, as of now at least. Lots of nice stuff sold at low prices. I am not yet sure of the locations but will update the website when I know them.

I've been out of the comic book loop for a few years, but I read that they're making a new Buffy comic. Anybody know of a good comic book store around here? There used to be the one in town, and I've heard that there may be one on Route 1. I'm looking for a decent comic book shop with decent stock.

I'm a freshman and will be arriving in America on the 2nd of September. :D But since my family has never been to New York, they want to take a holiday there before I go to Princeton, and they want me to come with them, so I had to miss signing up for OA and CA. Question: am I going to be missing a lot?

Reading Period

Can anyone tell me what the reading period is? I'm returning to Malaysia for Christmas/New Year, and need to book the tickets now because flights from NJ to Malaysia are few and far between. Do I need to be back for reading period, and if I do not, is it better to be at Princeton for the duration or at home?

computers

I'm an incoming freshman, and I'm wondering what most of you did when you were buying a computer? I want to get a Macbook pro probably, but I don't know if I should just buy it now from a store or wait and buy it through Princeton. My sister bought her computer through UPenn and wasn't totally thrilled with it; it completely crashed a couple of times, though she had PC. Money isn't really the problem here-- It's more about what is the best possible computer I can get with the least hassle. Also, I don't care about getting a free Ipod, so that's not a consideration either.

Free Tickets to Two River Theatre's ACCOMPLICE

Hey All,
My boyfriend works at Two River Theatre, and he's giving away free tickets to their new show ACCOMPLICE for tonight!

I've enjoyed their shows in the past, but this is actually my favorite. It's a massively funny and surprising thriller/murder mystery. And when I say you'll never figure out whodunnit, I PROMISE you will never figure it out. It's hellafun, and completely free. Honestly, it's a really good show, but they've not sold out due to it being a summer show (so not many subscribers came) and they want a full house!

Sudan Freedom Walk!

Simon Deng, a former Sudanese slave, with a small group of Sudan activists, is walking from New York City to Washington DC for 21 days in March and April. He is arriving in Princeton tommorow afternoon, Sunday, March 19.

From 7:30 to 9:00 PM, Simon Deng and other guest speakers will present a program at Princeton University’s Architecture Building, Room N101 (BETTS AUDITORIUM). This talk is free and open to the public.

Following this program, Simon Deng will head a short candlelight walk to Palmer Square where a candlelight vigil will be held from 9:15 to 10:00 PM.

If you would like to learn more about the slavery and genocide in Sudan, or support Simon's walk, you are welcome to attend these events!
