joereaves has very sensibly asked about what time of year our season is taking place, i.e. when does it start and what time period does it cover? It strikes me that it would be a good idea to try and work out approximately how much time is passing between people's episodes, and when they're envisaging setting them, so we can avoid such issues as one writer setting their episode in June, but the next writer setting theirs in May, or one writer describing 'sketetal trees' when the previous one has talked about it being the height of summer!

From Stephen's gravestone at the end of 2.07 we learn that he died on 4 March 2007. I think we can assume that the funeral takes place pretty shortly after that date, so we can take early March as our starting point...

3.01 - takes place directly after the funeral
3.02 - follows on directly from 3.01
3.03 - takes place approximately a week after 3.02
...etc.

If all the writers could give an estimate of how much time has passed between the previous episode and theirs, when in the year they see it being set, etc., I can extend this list to cover all the episodes, and we can avoid future confusion.

I'd like some info on the London Eye, please. Basic details like how many people per pod, how long it takes to revolve. What you can see from it. Photos from up there would be awesome.

Canon Bible

Welcome to the Canon Bible, which covers aspects of both the show canon and the VS3 canon. It will include links to useful websites, and information/answers to questions from the episode writers. It, and the episode summaries, should be your first port of call if you want to know something specific prior to writing a scene/character. If you can’t find the information you require, just ask and I will endeavour to find out the answer either by researching it or asking someone in the know!

The Bible will be divided into several sections, including characters, creatures, locations, and other useful things. Some sections may not have much in them to start with, but hopefully a pool of knowledge and resources will develop.

To ask a question, comment in a new thread on this post (this will make it easier to keep track of individual questions). Once the question has been answered the results will be added to the Bible as soon as possible to make the information easy to find in future.

Anyone with useful links/general information should also comment on this post – any and all contributions are welcome!

Blade
Real name: Niall Richards.
Description from FTS: Stephen looked up into the face of the man who, right now, was quite probably the only other human being on the planet. The soldier was younger than him by maybe five or six years. Dark hair, cropped short. Good looking, with a wide mouth that under other circumstances could slide easily into a cheerful grin, a permanent five o’clock shadow and the most vivid green eyes that Stephen had ever seen.
So, this makes him about 26. Single.
He goes caving with Lyle, and was one of the guys who went with Lyle and Lester into the Devil’s Crowll, along with Finn.
Originally, he was with Lyle’s unit rather than Ryan’s, but now they’re running three teams, (Ryan’s, Lyle’s and Stringer’s), the guys have been more interchangeable.
Parents died when he was a kid. Brought up by his grandparents.

Kermit
Real name: Darren Cooper.
Married, with a baby daughter (now about 9 months old). He chased Helen into the past at the beginning of DC series. She caught him, and it’s been hinted that she had sex with him.
25. Brown hair, brown eyes.

Lieutenant Jon Lyle
Same age as Stephen, so 32.
Description from the first time Stephen met him, in Interlude : He was a few years younger than Ryan, less heavily built, with short dark hair and sharp hazel eyes.
His thumbs prick when he senses trouble.
Served with Ryan in Bosnia.
Runs a unit of his own, originally providing back-up to Ryan if needed, but now on the project full time. It’s Lyle who’s technically in field command in FTS as Ryan is too personally involved.
Main hobby, caving and cave diving, as seen in DC.

Ditzy
Real name: Dave Owen.
Unit medic in Lyle’s team.
Also a caver, but doesn’t cave dive.
29. Single.
Sarcastic. The others all claim he has cold hands!
Mid-brown hair. Brown eyes. Fairly stocky. Medium height.

Finn
See fififolle’s icon’s for looks. He is the only one taken from a shot in the actual series.
Mid-late 20s. Also caves with Lyle. Went into the Crowll with Lyle and Blade.
Appeared in FTS, and went into the Thornton’s house with Cutter and Ditzy.
Is picking up a bit of a reputation in fanon for being a bit dim. See lukadreaming’s Iceman series. I’m happy to play along with this. It suits him.

Okay guys, now that the ficathon is over and those of us who were involved have finally breathed a sigh of relief at having posted in time for the deadline (more or less), it's time to start thinking about VS3 again.

Don't forget, the deadline for pitching your episode ideas is Sunday 13th July - that's a little less than two weeks from now.

So come on guys - where are all those episodes that we were so enthusiastically discussing a month or two ago?

Hi guys

Thank you to everyone who volunteered for a job in VS3. I was really hoping that I'd get one volunteer per role and everything would be easy. Unfortunately that didn't happen and there have been too many volunteers to give everyone a job, so I'm going to have to disappoint some people. I'm really sorry about this and I hope you're still going to stick around and write stories for us.

I have a vision, a goal, that when the TV Series 3 of Primeval is broadcast, the members of primeval_denial can read, week by week, episode by episode, our own alternative Series 3 in fanfic. Those fanfic episodes are long, plotty and satisfying, are set in a consistent and cohesive universe and fit within a story-arc that takes in the whole series. The TV Series3 is going to be 10 eps long (allegedly) so we are going to need 10 fics (at least).

I also want the process of creating this series to be as much fun for the contributors to do it as it is for the readers to read the fic.

Now I'm not asking you to sign away your souls (although I have a form from Wolfram & Hart if anyone wants to...) but I need you to sign up to the following conditions:
1) you will write or co-write at least one plotty Primeval fanfic of at least 5000 words
2) the fanfic must take place in a universe that we will agree between us
3) the fanfic must fit into a story arc that we will agree between us
4) the fanfic must be produced and posted within a timetable that we will agree between us
and most importantly of all
5) you will have an absolute blast while doing this

I know that sounds kind of heavy, but I want to set the expectations right from the start. The whole point of fandom is to have fun and I want us all to have a HUGE amount of fun doing this. But I want us to produce a virtual series at the end of it.

Now, having established that I'm a nitpicking control-freak with megalomaniac tendencies, I do realise that I'm not going to be able to do this on my own. And not just in terms of writing the eps. We're going to need people who not only write, but can do some management of the project as well. And let's face it, I'm making this up as I go along, so all suggestions and warnings will be gratefully received.

Let's get signed up and joined to this community. Once we have the team together, I'll close the membership and we'll friendslock the posts so that people can't spoil themselves by reading a flist entry. (What happens in VS3 stays in VS3!) Tomorrow, I'll do a couple of posts so that we can start collecting questions, ideas and suggestions for how we run this and what we do in the plot. We'll then designate a weekend where we can all get together online and thrash out how we run things and what the story is going to be. (So don't start planning the series arc and how your story is going to fit into it yet - we may not go down that route and I don't want you to waste effort). But I'll give more details about that tomorrow.

At the moment I have nothing to offer you but blood, sweat, tears, rum, sodomy and the lash. Who's in?
