AboutShow Synopsis
When Professor Nick Cutter and his Lab Technician Stephen Hart were convinced to investigate strange animal sightings in the Forest of Dean by Connor Temple, an enthusiastic grad student. They found themselves faced with the impossible, creatures that had been extinct for millions of years. While investigating in the forest they ran into a young animal handler, Abby Maitland who was there looking into an unusual species of lizard that she’d never before come across.
The situation soon attracted the attention of the government and Claudia Brown, a junior civil servant, was sent in to evaluate and cover up the situation. However, this was just the beginning and when anomalies in time started appearing randomly in the south of England, they had no option but to accept the seriousness of the situation and work together to try and protect the present from the past.

Primeval aired on ITV1 in the UK and the first series concluded on the 17th March 2007. See here for more (spoilerific) information and here on the show including the characters, monsters and actors of s1.
Now in it's third season, Primeval has gone through major changes since it first began airing in 2007. Series 1 had just 6 episodes; series 2 had 7; and series 3, with 10 episodes, will bring that figure to 23 episodes in total. The last episode of the current series (3) will air on the 30th May 2009. So far only Abby Maitland and Connor Temple have appeared in all the episodes (21 to date with two left to air).
The Community
The main purpose of this community is fanfiction for the ITV programme Primeval and it's characters, but essays, icons and fanart are equally welcome, as is chat about the characters and show.
Sexually explicit, smut, NC-17/18+ fic is not only welcome but actively encouraged as long as it is appropriately marked.
If posting here, it is important that you follow the rules below, if you fail to then your post may be removed.
The rules:
1. All posts must have a relevant subject in the subject line. This should indicate what the entry is about. E.G for a fic it should read - "Fic - (fic title) - (pairing), (rating)", for a recommended fic it should have "Rec - (fic title + Author), etc.
2. All Fics (except the header info) and Artwork must go behind an lj-cut or a link to another page that contains the entry. Information on how to do this can be found at LJ cut or Linking
3. All fics should have a header, visible before the lj-cut, with the following info as a minimum:

4. Crossover, Gen, Het, Slash, Femslash, multi, kink are all welcome, as are any others that might come to mind. Just be sure to mark it in the header appropriately.
5. Original Characters (OCs) are welcome in the fics that are posted/linked to but all fic must be recognisable as being part of the source fandom: it must be obviously for the Primeval fandom. A new person coming in and reading a fic must be able to tell that it is Primeval. This means that you must have either characters or scenarios from within the Primeval universe, an example of this would be an OC stumbling on an anomaly, a creature from through the anomalies making an appearance, or an OC being paired with a canon character.
To clarify on OCs/AUs:
If you're posting a multi-chaptered AU in which there are OC's doing something 'normal' in one of the chapters, then this is fine as long as there is something within the overall fic arc that makes it 'Primeval'. So, for example, you have a 12 chaptered AU in which the new ARC personnel Adam and Bob go on a date in chapter 3 then this is fine. If you build a universe for this AU (EG. the AB 'verse) and as a series of episodic one-shots you have a ficlet that's Adam going shopping or to his family for Xmas then as long as it's marked "part of the AB'verse", then this is also fine.
What we're saying isn't ok is a completely unconnected fic that isn't part of an AU universe and is completely unrecognisable as being part of the Primeval 'verse. This can be easily got around with the OC even just simply mentioning in passing "It's nice to have a day off and not to have to worry about an anomaly popping up", or wondering "how the hell do I tell my hot date that I chase dinosaurs that come through a rip in time for a living". So it can be a very simple shout out to the fandom, but there has to be something that connects it. I don't think it's unreasonable to want a fic to be easily distinguished as being 'Primeval fandom' from being original fic.
6. Please tag your posts with: characters or pairings; the season in which it's set (if relevant); and, any appropriate warnings or genre tags (EG Angst, AU...). If there is a tag that you need that isn't available then please pm a mod (![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif)
goddessmaat or azure_chaos) or add a note to the bottom of your post to request its addition.
7. Which rating system you use is up to you, US or UK movie rating, but please attempt to rate your fic accordingly. If you're uncertain then err on the side of caution and use the warnings in your header to help others decide if it is for them.
8. No flaming or bickering. If you don't like a pairing or character, or don't agree with an idea in a fic, just don't read it. The old saying "if you have nothing nice to say then don't say anything" isn't necessarily our moto here, but if you are going to be critical of a fic then please do it constructively. Outright nastiness will result in the delete button.
9. If recommending fics, please use the same format as if you were posting a fic, but include the fic author's name - be sure to give credit where it's due.
10. Warnings are important, there are some things that people find disturbing and would rather not read about. If your fic contains anything that may be upsetting or objectionable to others then please be sure to warn. Some warnings that are obligatory: Non-con/Rape, character death, abuse, violence, (specific bdsm/kinks such as bondage, breathplay, knifeplay, etc). It's also good to say when it contains Angst or Dark Themes.
It's always better to over warn than to not warn at all and if you've warned appropriately. More people may read your fic if they have obvious warnings because that might be what they were looking for, likewise, if it's something that squicks them then they can't complain about reading it if you have warned for it properly. If you're in any doubt then please add a warning. If you're worried about spoilers then there are ways around this, such as posting a link to a list at the end of the fic (people can then decide if they want to read the warnings before they read. If they choose not to read then they only have themselves to blame if they read something that squicks them - as per #11).
11. You are responsible for what you read. If you choose to read an adult-rated (NC-17, R or 18+) fic then don't complain if it contains adult themes. If you are underage in the area you live or don't want to read fics with sexually explicit material in them then don't click on adult-rated fics and always check the warnings included in the header beforehand. Once the poster has ensured the fic is marked appropriately, it is your own responsibility to make sure something is safe for you to read before you read it.
