IMATS Los Angeles 2006
This year was our first time exhibiting at the International Makeup Artists Trade Show. We were sharing a booth with Silpak, our supplier. Many thanks to Jerry, Andre and everyone who helped us out.
We made some contacts, handed out over 250 full printed postcard fliers, and premiered three new masks.
We come from a performance/theatrical background. So most of our masks use the actor's own eyes. We thought we'd make some with more realistic eyes for the tv/film crowd. Our vision wasn't hampered as much as we thought it might be. We just lost some pheripherals. The performers didn't really even need a handler, although we did use one, just to be safe. Plus we needed someone to hand out the fliers. The other cool part was that most people couldn't tell where you looked out from. It's great when you hide it well enough to get FX guys looking. :)
The three masks were a black bear head (on display at the table) a fox and an African Hunting Dog (walkaround costumes).
All the following pictures were taken on the Sunday of the convention during one of the promotional walkarounds.
We should also be in the magazine, so keep an eye out for us if you subscribe.

Outside Shoot

Showing off some of Silpaks rubbers.

African Hunting Dog
Red Fox
The Sun Worshipper
The Thinker
The Directors Chair
Profile of the Fox
Comedy Shot. I like that the characters really seem to be showing expressions. The Fox is pretending to stab the Hunting Dog with a "metal" (rubber) stake.
All of the new masks have moving jaws and posable ears, like many of our others.
Towards the end of the day, we decided to bring out the bat as well.
On the Show Floor
I really liked this pose

Fingers crossed we got the product out to a lot of new markets.
