A Norwegian fairy tale collected by Peter Christen Asbørnsen and Jørgen Moe, published in their Norske Folkeeventyr, 1844. Translated into English by Sir George Webbe Dasent and published in Popular Tales from the Norse,1859. This edition of the story was illustrated by P.J. Lynch.

The rubai (rubaiyat is the plural) is a two-line stanza of Persian poetry, divided further into two, of which the first, second and the last part must rhyme.

I went to a jam packed second hand bookshop {Voltaire & Rousseau} in the West End of Glasgow last week, I found this in a pile of old books and had to buy. Photos of the book are under the cut and I'll post photos of the shop later on :)
