phantom of my organ - mum & slowblow |

i was watching the icelandic film noi when all of the sudden, an image i totally recognized was on screen. that's never happened to me before and it is eerie. anyway i knew why i kept feeling like the main actor looked familiar. i had recognized him from the album art for a pair of songs that i liked that were part of a mix i downloaded a long time ago. i remember seeing the album cover for those songs and wondering why the hell there was some guy's face there, if he was in the band, or if he was just a model they used... the music was really slow, kind of like vincent gallo's music, and i really wanted to hear it. i love music like that, the kind that could put you right out if you were in the right mood or tired enough. when it's really sparse and just kind of drifts along but for some reason it isn't boring? i love that.
so after my completely random download of a completely random movie i wanted to find out the artist's name because i couldn't remember it, so i decided to try scrolling through the cover art on my ipod since i knew i'd recognize it. i was also pretty sure the artist's name began with an s.
obviously it was completely futile and my eyes almost fell out but i wasted about ten minutes before i gave up. i went and looked up the movie on wikipedia and randomly i saw that the director and the music producer were in a band together called slowblow. THAT WAS THE NAME.
anyway of course the songs were no longer on my ipod because that's just the way this shit works, and the album isn't available anywhere. literally. but itunes did have another album by slowblow with the girl from mum, so that'll just have to do. it's not quite the same sound but i think i'll survive.
i don't really know what the point of this story is, i just felt like mentioning it since it's taken up the last like, hour of my life. the movie didn't really have a point either but it was really good for some reason. iceland is depressing as all fuck, by the way. i kind of want to go there but i could only spend a few days. this is the picture, by the way:

he's albino according to the full title (noi albinoi) and kind of looks like a thuggish paul bettany.
not much else has been going on. my wallet got stolen on the subway which sucks and my day yesterday was kind of weird. a lot of bad things happened that could have been worse. i had to go to a five hour course so i can get my driver's license and a 63 year-old woman told me her life story while i was sitting on a bench at 10:30am. it involved her husband and kidney stones and methadone and it was pretty disturbing. but she was a decent person, and anyway it was nothing compared to the shit they show you in the safe driving videos. it was really awful. makes you never want to get in a car again. and then later after all of that, my wallet with my permit in it was stolen. so hey, maybe i'm not supposed to drive, ever?

I'll miss you guys. Honestly, I will. Take care. Embrace life, relax and just live it. Love you.

01. saw pineapple express while my mom and brother saw the mummy (i have no idea what number it is) and it was HILARIOUS. it was a little long and a lot of it was pretty stupid, but i cracked up so many times. genuinely. also?

i love james franco. i don't care how many movies he's been in where he's been a token hotass and i've just been like whatever, it took him running around with seth rogan in flannel pajama pants and a shark t-shirt with stringy hair and watery eyes for me to say YOU KNOW WHAT? I LOVE JAMES FRANCO. it was also so nice to watch a judd apatow movie and actually find someone in it cute (who wasn't paul rudd), no matter how grungy.
02. now all i have to see is the wackness and my summer stoner movie obligations will be over. i really do want to see it actually. i downloaded the soundtrack actually, but i'm too busy listening to pineapple express at the moment. i love this shit.
03. i have a question. is "cush" a general weed term? because there was weed in this movie with the same names as some of the stuff we got, and i remember some of the weed on campus having the name "cush" involved like some of the weed in the movie. but last term i didn't really think much of it, or i thought it was a play on my dorm's name, cushing. but if it's just a well-known name for certain strains, the name cushing is SO ridiculously appropriate for our dorm, since it is totally the most stoner-filled dorm on campus.
04. in non-weed-related news, apparently sam ronson is 31? WTF. HOW IS SHE 31? that's creepy. she's like ten years older than lindsay lohan. yow.
05. wow this entry ended up being all about weed. even the sam ronson thing is so weird it could be weed-related. i'll just... go watch mad men or something now. (SHOW IS STILL AWESOME BY THE WAY.)
eta: THEY'RE GETTING HIGH ON MAD MEN TOO. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON? I THOUGHT DON DRAPER WAS GOING TO BE LIKE, MY REPRIEVE, BUT APPARENTLY NOT. LMAO.

i might be a little bit too naive kind tired it might be drug money beer money i don't want to know money or she might really use it to get to longueuil it is kind of plausible that she just got her purse stolen anyway, i am too naive kind tired and i don't care, if it makes me forget i would have probably bought junk with that small sum but i don't think i will be buying any more bread &milk at 11pm and i am still choosing and pushing the other door myself whenever a beggar asks for my change just because he's keeping the other one open.
