Theme Song Lyrics
Here are the theme song lyrics, in full written Japanese, and romanized for those of you who can't read Japanese, and translated into English. The meaning of the words matches up with the action on screen during the title sequence quite well, but as my grammar skill is pretty bad, I can't guarantee I'm spot on with the translation.

You can view the opening sequence here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJycJ_VhQog

Please correct the translation where appropriate, and I'll update this post!

(The ending credits sequence is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nERQwxZ4FoM ... maybe Mendinso's transcription and translation can get added to this post ... ?)

I have also just put up stereo MP3 recordings of the opening and closing themes:
http://users.california.com/~keeper/music/ppgzo.mp3
http://users.california.com/~keeper/music/ppgzc.mp3

(Fans of the Japanese language and Warner Bros. cartoons of the 1990s might like some of the other recordings in that directory...)

I wrote up the romaji lyrics for the ending, and also have a rough translation. I'll post these later.

Ah, I haven't seen the ending yet. It's still downloading. I just added my rough translation for these opening lyrics to this post. My grammar is quite shoddy, so I'm sure some bits are off.

Also, Keeper1st, I'm going to use the translation you have and get it checked. The ending is also in need of being checked. I'll send you everything once it's finished being checked.

Okies. Let me know via an LJ response when you've sent an email, just to be sure (considering I never got that email from your forum).

BTW, the "1st" is not really there. I add it when my usual name "Keeper" is already in use by someone, even though I was the first on the internet to use the name (starting in 1985... yeah, I've been on the net for 21 years!). Hence, 1st 'cause I was Keeper first!

BTW, in case anyone is interested, Sony Japan has a little video clip of the pop idol (Yifei?) who sang the closing tune.

http://www.sonymusic.co.jp/Music/Arch/SR/yifei/

She looks like she's all of 12 years old.

Ah, so the title of that closing theme is "Midnight Door" -- hence the animation about the girls sneaking out at night.

According to the site, she is 18. As someone pointed out earlier, she is Chinese (from Beijing, the site says) -- the first time that a Chinese pop star was used for a theme tune on Japanese animation, apparently.

The text next to the CD cover which is repeated in boldface (starts with "10") at the top says "Teenage Asian beauty debuts with anime tie-in." Interestingly, despite the writing of "10代" to mean "teenage" and a couple grammatical particles, they use all English words rendered in katakana, but to say "tie-in" they write "tie-up". But to write the English words literally as "anime tie-up" it sounds... uh... like a different kind of anime.

So, you'll never be late to uke practice again! Or, something....
