I didn't know if any of you had noticed this, but there is actually an album available for her on iTunes Plus which includes many of her more popular songs as well as a few I'd never heard. I was just excited to see it, so I thought I'd mention it here because out of all places I figured you guys would appreciate it the most. :)

It is now official that Marija will perform at Stockholm Pride the 2nd of august! Actually it's been official for some time but me and fickleboon have enjoyed some quality time away from the computers. Here is what it says on the official stockholm pride page:

Rest required for Eurovision winner
Marija cancels trip after hospitalization

Marija Serifovic has been forced to cancel her trip to Norway where she was supposed to be performing tomorrow night at the Eurovision Memory Lane concert in Oslo in front of an estimated 5,000 crowd tomorrow night. Marija is currently hospitalized after straining her vocal chords and will not be able to travel to Oslo.

The producer of the memory lane event told Gaysir website "this is very sad, especially for a young talent such as Marija. She has promised to come to Norway this autumn but until then, she has to rest her voice". He went on to wish Marija a speedy recovery to the problem which is most likely down to her grueling schedule since winning the Eurovision Song Contest in Helsinki. Marija played at the Budva festival on Sunday before seeking medical help after pain in her throat.

Although the contest winner will not be traveling to Norway, this year's home entrant, Guri Schanke has stepped in to fill the breach and will be performing tomorrow night. We are also promised some surprise appearances in what is expected to be the largest Eurovision Memory Lane event so far.

Marija seeks songs for new album
Molitva video clip shot in Serbian and English

The video clip for this year's Eurovision Song Contest winner song Molitva has been shot in Belgrade, the clip for the English version of the song Destiny will be shot as well. Marija Serifovic and Beoton have opened a competition for debuting composers and lyricists. The winners will see their song included in Marija's forthcoming album

The video clip for Molitva was shot in a warehouse in Belgrade. The clip was produced by Moonfish, on a script by Manetu Šijanu.

Beoton and Marija Serifovic have opened a competition for new composers and lyricists. Marija, her executive producers and creative team will choose one of the songs submitted for Marija's forthcoming new album. Songs, lyrics together with the creator's contact details and CV should be sent to :

Eurovision winner in concert
Marija Serifovic in Norway, Germany, Belarus

In the following weeks, Marija Serifovic, the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest winner, will be performing in concerts in her homeland Serbia, Montenegro, Norway, Germany and Belarus.

Marija's tour schedule for the next three weeks has been announced as follows:

June 24 - Solo concert at the Budva Festival in Montenegro
June 26 - Marija will sing at the European Greco Roman wrestling Championship in Belgrade
June 28 - Eurovision Memory Lane in Oslo, Norway
June 29 - Concert in Stuttgart, Germany
June 30 - Concert in Offenbach, Germany

I just turned on the telly, and there was this awards show on, Bobster Awards, just as I turned it on they were handing out the "best Bobster live" award and guess who won!?
Marija with Molitva, of course! :D
She wasn't there to recieve the price in person, but she sent her best regards and told them how proud she was.

For those who speak Dutch: here's a link to another article about Marija. On the whole it says pretty much the same like the other Dutch article which was posted and translated already (thanks, weetniet!).

Lets celebrate this by watching this live version of Molitva (even though I'm sure you've all seen all the Marija vids that are available on youtube). Anyway, here it is:

I like the fact that there's a live band (even though the backup singers do kinda get on my nerves at times) and Marija seems very comfortable with them, and also it's nice to see her on a show where she can speak in her own language, since she seems to have a bit of a problem expressing herself in English.

I'm sorry if this seems silly and irrelevant to you, but I am the mod and you must bow to my superior powers.

I found this article on a Belgian website where a journalist wrote an article about the rumours concerning Marija Serifovic and her sexuality. Thought you guys wanted to read this so I translated it. :-)

It was to think that Marija's look would feed the rumours about her lesbian identity. Not that it matters, but in the little world of Eurovision, and by extention the whole showbizz, there are a lot more gays present than average. Extra amunition for those who want to shoot down the wall of Marija's privacy and want to know if there is a lesbian woman behind it.

Avoiding the question
During the press conference after her victory in Helsinki there was this 'pink boy' who asked the question that is on everyone's lips. He didn't ask it directly so that Marija had the oppurtunity to avoid the question.

'I love all people, the homosexual kind too', was the short comment. Marija also said 'I don't look at the differences between people. It is all fine by me. I don't care who does it with who.'

'Try everything, except drugs'
To the direct question wether she's a lesbian or not, that was asked by the website highlow.nl, she reacted with a firm 'No' that was followed with a 'not yet'. Serifovic also mentioned 'I want to try everything in life, except drugs'

The discrete attitude of Marija can be explained by the fact that the exeptance of homosexuality in Serbia is in the twilight zone. A few years ago the Gay Pride in Belgrado was dismanteled by violent Skinheads. The police stood,watched and did nothing.

'I did my part'
Some do fear for incidents during the Eurovision Song Contest, that with a bit exaggaration, but not by coincidence is known as 'the playground for gay/lesbians/bi's'. Marija hopes that some things will change towards next year. She wishes homosexuality becomes a topic people can talk about in Serbia and that the gay and lesbian people who come visit Belgrado next year will be welcome.

'Homosexuality is now seen as weird, but hopefully that will change. I did my part, now it is for others, for politicians/politics, to be ready when thousands (of gays) will come to Belgrado for the Songfestival. To me it is about the music, I don't know anything about politics', says a modest Marija.
