Quick Mod Update - Please read the RULES!

Just a quick update to say please read the community rules (in the sidebar) before posting:

* I've seen several posts in here that are related to requests for icons etc. Please do not post requests in this community, as it says in the rules, as there is a separate requests community

ppuff_requests. Plus, these posts will be deleted.

* Naomi specifically requested that alternate fonts NOT be used when doing icons of her Potterpuffs, please alter your icons to take into account this rule - or your posts will be deleted.

* Posts must contain at least one Potterpuff image, or they will be deleted.

* Also, posts must contain some kind of preview so that it is obvious what is in your post without having to click on the cut.

Just a reminder:

* Posts should be tagged according to the content of the images, as well as the image type.

* Please tag your Potterpuffs with the tag "inspired puffs" to distinguish them from Naomi's.

Also, I've noticed that some of you have been advertising commissions for Potterpuff stuff. As long as Naomi is okay for you to do this, then it's okay in the community. However, please do not make posts solely about commissions - make sure your posts contain Potterpuff art or icons (etc) as well. Commissions should be an addendum to the post, not the whole post.

It's been brought to my attention that this rule is being broken lately:

This community was made to share your artwork, albeit, icons/wallpapers/lj layouts/headers/banners etc etc. In that, I mean each post should have an image or a link to an image of some kind that HAS to do with potterpuffs after all that is what we are all here for.

Now I've seen the 'other' puffs and I think they are adorable. But what I'm asking you all is if this should be allowed, or if ONLY 'Harry Potter' related Potterpuff images should be allowed to be posted.

I am going to leave the decision in the hands of the community members.. being all of YOU. So vote. If the majority of you want to allow the posting of Puffs other than ones to do with 'Harry Potter' then vote YES and I will change the rule to allow them. If the majority of you don't want to see 'inspired' puffs then vote NO. And I will enforce the rule.

It's up to you.

First of all, I'm very sorry about the lack of recent updates. I've been so, SO busy, it's just been...stupid. I may have time to get an update together this weekend.

Anyway. This won't take long. Please stop doing this:

Okay? I don't like having my icons ripped apart any more than I like people changing my artwork. It's rude and it just looks ugly. If you want to imitate the icon style, that's alright - I'd frankly rather you didn't, but it's alright - but please, do your own cropping, and please use your fonts consistently. If you want to use the pixel font I use, it's here, and you can find a number of other good fonts under 'Pixel/Bitmap' on the main site.

Mods: I love you eternally for the work you already do. If you could consider this a rule from here on out (I'll add it to the usage policy as well), I would sacrifice small fluffy animals in your name. Thank you.

Norton Security Ad Blocking

If you have problems seeing some of the images and you have Norton Security on your computer, it may be because the Ad Blocking automatically blocks any urls which contain the word /banners/. You can set www.livejournal.com to permit /banners/ by clicking on AntiSpam > Ad Blocking > Configure > Advanced. This especially can cause problems with images hosted on photobucket for some reason.

Finally caught up with checking all the tags from September and October (after my dissertation) - most of you doing very well, though some people need to add tags to their entries! I must say October was a lot easier after all the multiple entries in September :)

I did add quite a few extra tags relating to the content of the posts, i.e: invites, iPuffs, sigs etc - please check them out. Please remember that if you post something that doesn't already have an appropriate tag to post on the tags post to let me know and I'll create one (the tags post is located on the right side just above the calendar). Thanks.

PS: If you did a post previous to September that contain iPuffs then please go back and add the new tag to it, thanks :)

Please note: If you move your graphics etc then please go back and edit your posts. It's quite annoying to fine tons of red x's because people are too lazy to update. It's easier for you to delete/edit one post than it is for me to go back and edit/delete 100's.

Quick Post from your Mod;

PLEASE limit your posts to ONE PER DAY

I've noticed numerous people postng a few times a day with only one icon, wallpaper - what have you, and then not long after updating again with yet another.
Please stop this.
Our Flists are full enough as it is, and this Community is quite busy. The last thing people want is numerous posts from one person on there Flist, when they could only have one with all the icons/wallpapers in them.

Hope you all understand.
Numerous posts per day from the same postser will be deleted after the first post from now on. Remember there is always the option to go back and edit your post and add more, or at aleast wait until the next day. =]

HBP + Tags + Paid Account

The verdict (by a margin) is that MAJOR spoilers for HBP should be cut, i.e: the ending and the identity of the HBP. However, to ensure that people can still find spoilers, please keep on using the "hbp_spoiler" tag when using Naomi's HBP images.

Please please please remember to use the existing tags to tag your entry - and please don't make up your own. Mistagged entries will mean that your entry gets lost and it causes more work for us mods.

On a happier note, thank you very much to the anonymous person who paid for 6 months of LJ time for the community :) We'll be putting it to good use to modify the style further and add extra bits and bobs. Feel free to make suggestions/ offer help if you have any ideas.

Tags + Layouts

Ok, just a little note from your mod.

People have been doing really well with tags, though there still are lots of people who don't tag their entries. Just a couple of reminders:

+ Please remember to tag the entry with the type of graphic you are posting, I've had so many this week that haven't used "icons" or "layouts" or whatever.

+ Please make sure you include all the necessary tags for the entry, especially if you edit it to add more later.

+ If your entry contains a pairing, then tag with that pairing ONLY - do not tag with the individual people as well, this is only confusing. This includes "trio" posts.

+ If you add a NEW tag to your entry (or wish a new tag ot be added), then please comment on my Tag's list so I can add it. Please do check that this tag does not already exist in another format already - for example, I had to change several entries that had tagged "sirius/remus" instead of "remus/sirius", or "icon" instead of "icons", and "myrtle" instead of "monaing_myrtle".

Another point, which just annoys me is people posting layouts which are for _GJ (GreatestJournal) only_. This is LIVEJOURNAL. If your layout is GJ-only, please do not post it here!

Tags + Spoilers + Layouts

Ok, there was a code update which screwed up tags. Now all tags which had a space in them have an underscore (_) - e.g: friends_only - please remember this when tagging entries manually, else your entry could get lost (as the tags with spaces cannot be used to find your entry).

People have been getting tons better at tagging entries, just remember to include tags for all characters, and then a descriptor (i.e: icons, layouts etc). If you icon is trio based - use the trio tag and don't tag all the people individually. The same with the other group tags.

Combining tags is supposed to work by using the + operator i.e: tags/draco+layouts - but this functionality does not yet seem to have been added.

Keep up the good work.

PS: Remember to cut spoilers until at least 16th August, use your discretion after that (i.e: ending spoilers could still be cut)

Edit: If you are postings layouts, please include a link to a preview or some sort so people can easily see what it is like. Thanks.

Also, please only post Potterpuff stuff in here, non-Potterpuffs icons etc should be displayed elsewhere.

Just a quick note about tags... Most of you have been great, and it's made my job easier, but there are few things:

* 'unfiled' - Does not mean that I've not had a chance to look at it yet. It is my tag, it has a specific purpose (when images aren't showing up) and therefore shouldn't be added by non-mods. It's getting a little tedious going through and removing it from entries :)

* 'tom'/'voldemort' - I've been filing all Tom Riddle icons etc under 'voldemort', because they are the same person. Please don't use the tag 'tom'. Thanks. Though you can use 'tom/harry' if you've done that pairing.

* Pairings - If your post contains pairings, then please use the tag for that pairing and not just for the separate people. If there isn't a tag, check both names, then let me know so I can add it.

I know it riled up alot of people and I'd like to thank you all for handling it in a decent fashion. Sorry, folks. It took me a while to get around to this, but broadly speaking you guys have given me nothing to worry about.

Firstly, I have to say I'm simply bowled over by how many people have joined this comm and made some simply lovely graphics with my art. I wish I could comment on everything, but this project has been keeping me busy and (however little I sleep) I just don't have enough hours in the day. Suffice to say, I love you all and I'm incredibly happy that anyone should want to use my art this way. ♥

However. *puts on serious hat* Since it is my art, I think it's fair to put my foot down on a few issues. If you could look this way, please:

I think that's about it for now - please note that the usage policy refers to all graphics, including FO banners and layouts. Ok Time for a few Guidelines/Rules:

This is not a community for requests! Or for introducing yourself, if that seems harsh - too bad, I'm sorry, but this community is pretty big and is getting too many pointless posts. If I see anymore request posts or introduction posts I will be deleting them. Perhaps someone should start a requests community!

This community was made to share your artwork, albiet, icons/wallpapers/lj layouts/headers/banners etc etc. In that, I mean each post should have an image or a link to an image of some kind that HAS to do with

potterpuffs afterall that is what we are all here for.

ALL HBP SPOILERS still must be put behind cuts and be labelled as such! No matter how minor the spoilage is, remember some people have not yet had the chance to read HBP.

If I find anything unsuitable from now on, it will be deleted and I won't give an explaination, if it doesn't fit the guidelines, it's gone.

I'm not trying to be a bitch, but this community gets alot of posts, and if it doesn't start obeying the rules, I will have to monitor each and every post, by having them come through me first before I allow them to be posted.

If you post more than 3 icons, please place from #3 onwards behind a cut!

Also, this community is friendly, if I see any snark or bitchyness from members I will delete them.
