It's December 1st and it's the start of a few changes to the RPG and how we handle things within the RPG.
First there are a few rule changes, we'd like to think that everyone took a look at them when they were mentioned a few weeks ago. If not, then we'll list the changes here:
1: There is no character limit now. We like to believe that people will take on as much as they can handle, no more and no less. The activity of players will be taken into account. (If you are inactive within the game and apply for a new character, there's a high chance you will be denied.)
2: Posting limits have been changed. Now, we'll go in to detail in a minute about this. But as far as the rule goes, please go and read it. And I cannot stress ENOUGH that the limit is a MINIMUM limit.
3: Hiatus rules have been changed. They are no longer indefinite. You will be given a month max, then you will be urged to come back or renew your hiatus. Though if you are going to be gone for longer than a month we would suggest that you consider dropping your character. A lot can be missed in a month. People complain about not knowing what is going on, can't get into their characters like they used to, and cling to them for months before finally dropping. We'd like to nip this behaviour in the bud.
4: We now have an age limit of 16 for this game. This doesn't mean that anyone now playing who is under 16 years old will be kicked from the game. This is just a precaution, as we have a history of attracting very young people who cannot handle this type of game. (Very immature, never last very long)
5: Purging will once again happen on the 1st of every month. People in risk of being purged will be given fair warning. Once you have been purged you get one more chance, if you'd like your character back. If it happens a second time, you lose your character and will not be allowed back to the game. (Lets face it, anyone who ignores PM's and who is inactive for a month without word is not likely to come back.)
Problems with inactivity.
This is chronic and disturbing, and everyone is sadly responcible for this. (with one or two exceptions) For this to be the game it could be, and should be, there needs to be a higher level of activity. More than that, there needs to be a higher level of interaction.
Problem Areas 1 - The Characters:
1: Characters ONLY talking to one or two characters. Ever.
2: Characters ONLY talking to the other members of their team.
3: Characters ONLY talking to their partners/bestfriends/family.
Problem Areas 2 - The Muns:
1: Muns taking little/no notice to the Mods or Mod/OOC/Events posts.
2: Muns not giving feedback when asked.
3: Muns not getting involved with other muns.
Problem Areas 3 - The Posting/Commenting:
1: Sporadic posting = Borderline inactivity.
2: Posting without commenting. Commenting without posting.
3: Not taking part in events, in general plots, AU weeks.
There are a lot of problem areas here, and we'd like to address some, if not all, of them.
-- We do have a posting limit, but we're once again like to stress that it is a suggested, MINIMUM limit. It's the base limit that will keep you in the game. Less than two and you're out. But we do NOT meet two posts every month. We're ideally like you to post once a week, if not more. And if not that, at least comment. Keeping in touch with other characters and friends, making new friends and so on.
-- On the issue of making friends. This game has been running now for close to two years, and there are still characters who stick to their own and refuse to move on and make friends outside of their partners or team. This needs to be fixed. Random friendships are always being made in real life, and some have even been made here too. But it's the antisocial characters I'd like to single out here. And you know who you are. An effort should be made to interact more with other characters/muns. To do otherwise is... just plain strange to me. And makes me wonder just why you are playing in an RPG in the first place.
-- I'd like to talk about Mod posts now. Each post is important and must be read. When the Mods ask for your comments, suggestions, ideas, we would really like people to take advantage of that and give us your ideas. While we can come up with them on our own, in order to get everyone involved we'd like everyone to have a hand in things. If you do not include yourself when plans are made, you are excluded from having an opinion on them once they are implemented.
Please read though this post. If you have any questions then state them now.
