Last night, I went alone for a run along darkened highways. It was late - that they were darkened at 10:00p.m was an oddity, not a matter of course. The light doesn't fade until after midnight, here, and the clouds were each shot through with an odd monochrome radiance. The sky wasn't merely grey, it was huge shifting patchwork of it. An oil-painting done of the sea which reflected it, in paints with elements like titanium and zinc in them. I ran until I got to the little fishing village and cruise-ship dock away from Auke Bay, still on the Glacier Highway. I looked out over the water and saw a nothing - but puckered, wrinkled, it was grey spinning towards me. You see, it doesn't really rain here. The mountains channel the clouds, and when they touch ground, everything gets wet. This cloud had laid itself loosely over the islands at the head of the Bay, and then headed inland. Standing out in the open, against the cliff wall of the highway, it slammed into me, and bunched up with nowhere to go. At first it wreathed the ships in the harbor, and then the pier structures - curiously, almost, tenderly. Tendrils from the main mass, running ahead, acting as scouts. Lost in a million different shades of grey, I sat down on the shoulder of the road, away from cars, and stared out into a space suddenly changed entirely by nothing more than water vapor. Limitless, endlessly shifting, mesmerizing, it was beautiful. It was haunting. I'm glad I was there.

I'm looking for postcard fiction. Are you the kind of person who writes it? I wonder.

Virgil Jones
4300 University Dr.
Auke Bay, Alaska, U.S.A
Apartment F1-4
99821

Just a head's up for anyone who was shipping items outbound from Florida, adding insult to horrible injury, about 500 pieces of mail were destroyed in Wednesday's terrible I-4 accidents.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Quoted news article:
Most Burned Mail Came From These ZIPs
Posted Jan 10, 2008 by Neil Johnson
Updated Jan 10, 2008 at 02:31 PM
The United States Postal Service says the roughly 490 pieces of Priority Mail that burned in the Interstate 4 wrecks on Wednesday came from Southwest Florida.
The mail may have come from ZIP codes beginning with these numbers: 335, 336, 337, 338, 339, 341, 342 and 346.
Here’s where you can check tracking and tracing for a Priority Mail item mailed on Tuesday to the Central Florida or Miami area. http://www.usps.com/
For information regarding claims on insured packages, go here. http://www.usps.com/insuranceclaims/welcome.htm
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Not that packages in any way are as valuable as people's lives, but it's still a piece of information people need to know if they shipped or were expecting packages from Florida.

I have several My Little Ponies that are in great condition that I would like to give away to someone who would enjoy them. Included are two out of the three of the warm crystal breezies and all of the cool coloured ones. There are also two of the Original 1983 remakes (the yellow one and the blue one). Then, there are four others, one of which I cannot find an image for, but she's blue and green, one that was only sold in Target stores and two that were for a promotional give-a-way.

There is no catch. Just let me know that you want them, I'll give you my email, you send me your address and I'll mail them out in the morning the next day (so long as it's a week day). Again, I really would like them to go to someone who would really enjoy them and/or play with them. They were a gift, but they are collecting dust in our home.

If you've been keeping up with the conversations on the Official PX Google group, this isn't news to you, but there's a lot of px members who don't check there so I thought I'd relay the information here as well.

With the rampant troll infestation and continual deletion of every single address repeatedly the last couple weeks, a few px members took it upon themselves to make another site. I'm NOT involved in it and I have nothing to do with it's development or management. So this isn't personal spam, just a head's up for anyone who was looking for alternatives. They took what was great about px and kept it but fixed what was terrible. (Like the uncontrolled deletions, vandalization and related.) It just went live but there might still be some bugs to work out.

So feel free to post your address over at sendsomething.net if you're looking for an additional place to mail random goodness.

I have just joined this community and I come with an idea!

Is anyone interested in swapping home made postcards with a music theme?

My idea is that you specify who your favourite band at the moment is and I'll do the same and then we'll each decorate a postcard with images of that group and lyrics. It'll be like being sent a mini-shrine to your favourite band! I'm feeling creative(ish) at the moment but I am low on cash.

Anyone want to swap with me? I'm in the UK I'm afraid XD

Hello!

I have a few rings and pendants and a pair of pierced ladybug earrings that need a home. I don't have a good place to get rid of them and some of them are sort of meaningful to me, but I'll never wear them again again for one reason or another.

I want to send them all off in one package to save on postage... so, if you like only three of these, you'll still get all of them and you may do with them what you wish. The rings are between sizes seven and nine. Oh and there are a set of ladybug earrings that are not in the pictures below.

The images can be seen here.

First come, first serve ;)

Edit: The jewelry is taken :)
