10:35 am - Confirmed same date: Sisters of Mercy ./ ohGr - what will you see?

inyou
So since we know that Sisters of Mercy ($30 @ Roseland) and ohGr ($20 @ Dante's) will be happening on Saturday Nov. 22nd:

Who will you go see? I personally am leaning more towards ohGr especially because of the small environment for Dante's, but it will depend on who wants to go with me, because if I have other people coming with me, the all-ages aspect of Hawthorne might come into play.

7:48 pm - I'm alive!!

fmlcupid

Sore but I survived.

I can't even begin to process the beauty of this festival. the most incredible performers of the underground Northwest pulled together to create unheard of performances.

From an opening ritual that gave everyone pause as 20 actors took over the stage, to Black cat's incredible show (you tube below) to Paul Mercer and the Ghost Project's standing ovation.

Azphodel (Zane) shocked the hell out of even me with the almost purely unpracticed collaborative dance of Inanna.

Thank you to everyone who came out!! I will post more you tube's as they come in :).

Enjoy!!

info on BABYLAND:
BABYLAND embodies the integration of electronic music with the direct approach of hardcore and the intensity of junk noise. Compositions are conceptually based on the extreme emotional elements of humankind as reflected in our continual evolution and search for meaning within our own existence.

Throughout the years, elements of synth pop, hardcore punk rock, new wave, techno, drum & bass and noise have all fallen prey to our continual experimentation. We utilize machinery twisted through misuse and human error to aggressively address our audience with empathy and concern; The electronic elements and primitive rhythmic base of the music provides an intense clarity and opposition to the resulting confusion and noise. The stronghold of our existence has always been intense live performances which confront audiences with an honest celebration of extreme energy, harsh sonic and visual elements, and experimental destruction. In other words, we take ourselves way too seriously.

It's the first all-ages 'Hell on Earth' and it's in the ballroom! I better see a lot of bad-ass costumes this year. I'll keep you posted if I find out more info on the costume contest.

12:34 pm - Conflux ~ A brief

fmlcupid

One more week to go until the first ever Conflux Dark Arts Festival. This is going to be an incredible line up of artists and performers who have been working for months to create an amazing show. Many have come together in collaboration, and all are contributing to this festival in more then one way. Whether we have vendors who are also in the fashion show, performers who are also hosting workshops, or musicians and performers who are performing together, you will never again see a show like this one out of any of the performers involved.

If you have not yet purchased your ticket, please do so. They are only $30.00 for the entire weekend and that money goes directly to the artists after costs for the festival are paid. The Temple of the Muse is taking no money for themselves. Tickets will be $35 at the door, and you can receive a $5.00 discount for the weekend pass if you are coming from the HP Lovecraft Festival.

There are a variety of ways to purchase tickets - both online and in locally owned stores here in Portland. go to the conflux website for more details.

http://www.confluxpdx.com

Thank you to everyone for your support!
