Does anyone know where I can find this nerd?

My old friend from Bremerton moved down here last year, about the time I did and I totally forgot! Well I thought I saw him skateboarding near my house yesterday, but his LJ is totally dead and lame. So if you know a guy named Mike, with the nick name "Cananda" with maple leaf tattoos on his chest also nicknamed "spider crack" with a spider tattoo, can you let me in on any other place I can contact him?
Thanks!

Art frames

I want to supplement my income by trying to sell my art prints. I'm looking for the cheapest frames of, I believe, 11 by 16 (not sure if that was the size). I haven't printed any of the pictures yet, so the size is still flexible. But the point remains. At the Glisan FredMeyer's I found some cheap frames (clear plastic plate and a backing that was either plastic or cardboard, I forget which) held together by black plastic strips for $11.99. I'm going to check out other places, but if anyone has any ideas for anything cheaper, or places to look that I might have overlooked, let me know here please. Thank you for your time and for any help.

The 1031 Community Theatre is revving up for another successful season of FRIGHTTOWN beneath the Memorial Coliseum and we would love all you Halloween and horror fans to join us! If you're an artist of any discipline, or if you just love acting or stagecraft or just scaring the beejeebus out of people, we'd love for you to join our merry band of monsters & monster makers as we entertain and terrify thousands of people this year.

Artistic skill and acting experience is a plus but not mandatory - anyone over the age of 18 is invited to join us. (Or 16, with a signed parental consent form.) We start setting up in just a few weeks and perform 20 nights in October, including the Mexican Day of the Dead on November 1. Whether you're involved every day or just one day, behind the scenes or in people's faces, is totally up to you.

For more info, send us an email to info@frighttown.com or sign up at frighttown.com by clicking on BE A MONSTER.

Happy Halloween!

Fish/Plants for Sale/Free

Hey all,

I just posted these listings to Craigslist, but basically I'm willing to give the fish away for free if there are no takers within the next couple of hours...

Pond Fish: $1

We need to drain/fill our backyard pond so alas, he little fish must go. I have 20-30 small to medium pond goldfish (they kind of look like koi, only smaller. They are NOT koi).

These are very hardy fish and winter over very well.

Please come with a bucket, we will give you a net and you can catch as many as you want.

http://portland.craigslist.org/wsc/grd/827327965.html

We are draining our pond and the plant needs a good home. It's a large plant and has wintered well from last year. I think it may actually be two pots.

It's a great deal for someone wanting to add a bit of Egyptian flare to their pond!
http://portland.craigslist.org/wsc/grd/827337506.html

Most random harebrained idea ever:

My friend and I would like to road trip to Salt Lake City to see Leathermouth play. The actual concert is about $15 and is all ages. We figured the gas cost and it'll be around $230. We really can't afford that so we decided to see if any Oregon fans would wanna go?

This is gonna be a slightly ghetto trip, i.e. Sleeping in the car and probably BEING in the car almost the entire time. (I'm bringing a sleeping bag.)

Anyone hardcore enough to hang with two, or more, strangers for two days to see the AMAZING LEATHERMOUTH?

We, me and my friend, are a 23 yr old gal(robot) and a 26 yr old dude(fagbot). Neither of us are threathening in anyway, we just have random crazy ideas that we try to make work.

The "plan" AKA CRAZYNESS will begin with our departure at 4am on Saturday morning, hopefully arriving around 3pm. The show starts at 6pm, we think, at Club Sound. Once the show is over we'll sleep in the car until morning then we'll drive back and arrive Sunday evening.

HELP US MAKE THIS WORK PLEASE.

Sidenote: please be 18+, have your $58 up front, and not randomly kill us. I'll have mace! We could also look into splitting a hotel room if all folks involved are interested.

Thanks!

Listen!:

www.myspace.com/leathermouthlives

If anyone has any friends interested, send them my way!

Help With A Show in September?

Greetings, fine people of the PDX.

My name is Ainjel Emme. I'm a singer/songwriter from Austin, currently in Los Angeles "livin' the dream" (cause every girl dreams of waiting tables and living in a shoebox apartment, right?).

I have a special place in my heart for Portland, and I'm happy to say that I'm on the way up for a visit in late September. My music has made a few friends in your fine city, and they might like to see me play while I'm there.

I'm looking for a place to play on Friday the 26th, and I need your help in finding a venue. Know somebody? Playing a show and have some room on the bill for an opener? In-store? Cafe? House party? Street corner? ;)

My info:
MySpace
Facebook
Official Site
(you can ask me for my email if it's pertinent)

Anyone who can successfully put me in touch with a venue / contact / band, please come down to the show so I can buy you a beer. Or a scotch. Or a shirley temple. :)

Thank you so much, and have a lovely day.

xo
Æ

(xposted with love in a few related communities. thanks.)

Baron Von Goolo wants YOU!

Is Halloween your favorite holiday? Or do you just get a huge kick out of
dressing up and scaring the holy h-e-double-hell out of people? Then you
might want to hang out at FrightTown this September and October.

The FrightTown haunted house is the biggest and scariest haunted house in
the whole Portland metro, and we'll be reopening our doors at the Portland
Memorial Coliseum on Saturday, October 4, for a whole new season of thrills
and screams. Not too many people realize that all that horror is actually a
non-profit production by the 1031 Community Theatre - and every year about
this time we look far and wide for the best and scariest new volunteers we
can find. We have positions for actors, set decorators, set builders, makeup
artists, costume designers and more, for every level of experience from rank
amateur to polished pro. And since we're a local non-profit arts collective,
if your school or company has some sort of community service requirement, we
can help you meet it by scaring the crap out of people. That's a good deal.

Preparations have already begun and we'll be starting Scare School training
soon. Go to 1031theatre.org or frighttown.com for more details, or if you
want to sign up, click on the banner below.

Happy Halloween!

http://www.baronvongoolo.com/gool/beagool.html

weather question

My husband and i are looking to relocate. I love the Oregon area and have been to the Portland area and adored it. Needless to say, i wonder about the weather as i have only been there in the summer. I read a lot about it raining often blah blah...but i trust local opinions better:) Im not too concered as we live at about 10,000 ft right now and have about 8 months of snow...part of the reason i want to move...so whats it really like year round? When it rains is it days and weeks on end of rain? or daily rain then sun comes out?

thanks for any input you can give me:) also are there any suburby areas that you would def. move to or def not move to? thanks in advance:)

glass heads?

I picked up these hollow glass heads at Pier 1 yesterday and now they I've brought them home I don't know what I should do with them. They are life sized and the base is at the neck. I'd like to fill them with something, or put something inside. I wish they screwed shut at the base, but alas, they don't. So, what would you like to do with these glass heads? Give me some ideas!

Looking for A Place

Hello. I'm moving back to the Portland area after a few years away. I was going to stay with people I knew but that fell through. While I do not have a job there yet I would find one as soon as I was able to even if I have to clean toilets.

I'm 33 years old. I'm a non-smoker and non-drinker, and do not do drugs of any sort. I'm not into parties and don't even know lots of people to invite over even if I wanted to, which I don't. I have no pets or children. And I am certifiably sane though somewhat eccentric.

Mostly I'm intent on making the remaining tuition money to pay for my last two courses at UCDavis for winter quarter. I will be heading back down there in late December. It's a long story...but I can explain if you need me to.

I do have the money for moving into a place. I have ok credit and no criminal background. I arrive on Monday and need to find a place by the end of the month. Sooner is better than later. Oh, and the place has to be near a bus line because I will not have a car.

Thanks,
Edith

So I'm making a costume and I need one final component. One would think it would be easy, but I've been all over Beaverton and no one sells one.

Where can I find a plain black long sleeved tshirt in about a 3x? And when I get one, where can I have a screen put on it?

New to Portland

Hi! As my subject says, I'm completely new to anything Portland. My girlfriend really loves it there, and we're hoping to move in a couple of years. I'm hoping we can go for a visit in the next few months.

Are there any resources people can refer me to so I can learn a bit more? It'd be greatly appreciated!

So it's my birthday this Friday and I'm looking for some food advice.

Usually I go out to lunch by myself at some place that offers free birthday lunches. I used to go to Todai but they stopped doing it--is it true they've started again? Where else is good that's near the Max line that would have that?

And also I'm looking for something new for dinner with my parents and sister (and my friend and my sister's boyfriend). We have a wide palate, but since we're looking for something new, that rules out American, Thai, Italian, Japanese, Indian, Middle Eastern, and Chinese. Also I don't much like seafood of any sort. So what's out there in the 20$ or less price range?

FOUND CAT

I think someone dumped her near St Johns Bridge and Germantown Rd or NW Skyline Blvd and Forest Park.
She's super sweet and I'm sure would like to be an indoor kitty. She's hanging out on our porch now in a bed I made for her. My old cats refuse to let her inside! I'm trying to post everywhere I can think of to get her home. If you think you know her owner please let them and me know! Saturday we have a vet apt to see if she microchipped, get checked up and see if she's spayed. Cross your fingers for me!
Thank you!

Hey there. I'll be in Portland for the next four days for RailsConf and I'm just curious to hear what some locals think are things to see/do in Portland. Also curious what the best delivery pizza in the city is (local, non-chain). I'll be staying near the convention center (I'm assuming there's only one, or at least a clearly more significant one than all the others), if that makes a big difference.

Thanks!

(cross-posted to damnportlanders as well, sorry for any duplication)

travel tips??

I've got myself a bit of a problem... I am flying up to Portland on Monday, May 19th and staying until Saturday, May 24th. I'm coming from San Francisco(if that matters). My problem is that my friend who has recently moved up there has proved to be one of the worst hosts ever.... so I'm pretty much going to be by myself the entire time. I have never been to Portland so I have no idea what I'm in for.

My friend actually lives in Vancouver, WA and he says it's just a hop, skip and jump away from Portland. So here are my questions:

1. How useful is the public transportation? Will it be easy to get from Vancouver to Portland? From the airport to Vancouver?

2. Is there any kind of public transportation to get me to Seattle? Canada?

3. Please suggest things to do and see. I enjoy art museums, really good coffee, and bargain shopping.... also any really good restaurants to check out? Or any bars or clubs?

Thanks for your help!!
