Stephen's behavior had been unusual lately. At first Wilson had simply written it off to extra stress at work, but once he had noticed entire bottles of alcohol mysteriously disappearing from the liquor cabinet, he started to get worried. Stephen often drank excessively when they had wine with dinner, and he knew the man would make unexplained trips to the store throughout the day. All in all, Wilson decided he needed to do something.
He took the day off without telling Stephen, and after the man had gone into work, he'd started looking through their office. After an hour and finding four bottles of alcohol--two half-empty bottles of bourbon, an almost-empty bottle of vodka, and a nearly full bottle of wine--Wilson knew his suspicions were confirmed. Setting the bottles on the coffee table, he went through their bedroom next and found two flasks of scotch hidden in Stephen's drawers, and another bottle (rum this time) in their closet, almost empty.
Wilson added these to the collection on the coffee table. He sat down, rubbing his temples, and trying to get his bearings before standing up and grabbing his coat. Time to go to the store.
He came back with a set of locks and keys and small fridge. The first went on the liquor cabinet. The next went on the case in their basement where they stored their wine, and the third on the small fridge, after he'd put inside all their chilled alcohol. He then dumped out all the stuff Stephen had hidden, plus their cheaper stuff, and lined up the empty bottles on the coffee table when he was done.
He didn't know how long Stephen had been hiding this from him, but he did know he was confronting him with it tonight. They'd get him the help he needed whether he liked it or not.
