the talk I havent totally drank (drunk?) the Obama Kool Aid, but this has to be one of the wittier things that Obama camp has done. Barack Obama wants to know, " Have you had “The Talk” with your parents or family?" See, your parents talked to you about drugs and sex (unless of course your name is Bristol Palin). So now its time to talk about Barack Obama and why your parents should vote Evil Secret Muslim. The O Man has some helpful hints, Do share your personal reasons for voting for Barack Obama;
Do have confidence -- your opinion matters to people who care about you;
Do read up on Barack’s positions on the issues you know matter to them;
Do find a good time when both you and they will be open to a conversation;
Do talk to them in person if you live nearby, or on the phone if you don’t;
Do ask your friends to talk to their parents and grandparents as well;
Don’t worry about knowing everything about policy positions before you have this conversation;
Don’t feel defensive. Stay calm, cool and collected;
Don’t wait until the last minute -- it might take a few conversations for you to convince them, so start as early as possible;
Don’t catch them at a bad time -- make sure you have their attention and enough time to have a conversation I have to hand it to Obama camp for putting a very witty spin on a serious and difficult issue to breach with your parents. Talking politics with your parents, especially if they are like mine and arent liberal whores, could be hard, and its refreshing that the campaign is making it easy for people to have "the talk" with mom and dad. |

OMG OMG. I am having a bit of a crisis.
I have a response paper on Dante's "Inferno" due sometime this week. I thought it was Wednesday, but about ten minutes ago, I got this little fear in my chest that it is actually due tomorrow..... now, I will probably be up half the night writing it, nervous as fuck.

Also: how disrespectful to the memory of Judge Baylor would it be for me to print out the 90-100 pages of Hitverse that I haven't read on "his" computers/printers so that I can read it in bed instead of fussing with the computer? DISTURBING. Every time I see the ads on TV for Zack and Miri Make a Porno ( trailer here if you haven't seen it), they drive me CRAZY. Traci Lords plays a porn star (a stretch, I know... maybe stretch is a bad choice of words) named Bubbles in it, but every time I see her I'm like THIS REMINDS ME OF SOMEONE, GAH WTF. Well, I figured it out today!  REBECCA FROM PASSIONS! Look, these were the only two pics I could find and I think you can still see it. It's not just the bangs and the hair color (Bubbles' hair looks redder in the trailer too, truth) and the bad furs and general look but I knoooow someone of you watched Passions, and all I think I need to say is A DONKEY NAMED EDGAR. Man, I feel so much better now. Now I am going to go tackle my Inbox. Someone send down a bucket with food and water if you don't hear from me again. :( Current Mood:  accomplished |

What happened to Jo and Ellen? The last we saw of Jo she had been kidnapped by demon Sam. And Ellen was in the last episode of season 2. Jo didn't die in the Roadhouse fire, did she? I want both of them to come back. If for no other reason than I want Dean and Jo to hook up for a good hot roll in the hay. LOL. |

whip it good Not to overly parse words, but is it really wise for John McCain to say he is going to whip Barack Obamas "you know what"? I know thats its just an expression, like, say, "put lipstick on a pig", but after two weeks of nasty race baiting and a scarily riled up Republican base, Im not sure if "whipping" is really the action you want to take against the black man. Also, my old film and digital media teacher came into work today to buy ... something or another. I didn't take notice because he had his son with him and OH GOOD GOD, THE PRETTY. IT HURT NOT TO REACH OUT AND TOUCH HIM. I think he's still in high school, a junior I think, but I don't care. I might take another one of this douchebag's classes just to get another peak. How sad is that? |

Survived work. Am about to settle in for lots and lots of reading for history in the morning. Our book for the next week is "Evening in the Palace of Reason: Back Meets Frederick the Great in the Age of Enlightenment". Looks really good, so I don't think I'll have too much of a problem gobbling it up. Other than that, I could really use a foot massage. At least Fall Break starts on Friday, so I get the entire day off, not having to go to work until 5. JUST HAVE TO MAKE IT TO FRIDAY. |

10 years today Today is the Anniversary of Matthew Shepard's Death. Visit Matthew Shepard Foundation its a great site and a great cause. We've given money for the last 3 years on this day to the foundation and got the really cool Erase hate purple wrist bands. Sadly not a lot has changed. We have Prop 8 in CA that looks like it might go through, Hate crimes against gays havent gone down. The Hate crime bill failed. There are so many things that can go wrong, with the world in a panic over things its easy to find a scapegoat some  Stupid people who blindly follow are looking for someone to blame and as history suggests its easy to pick a scapegoat and direct all your hate to it look at the horrors of WWII. Look at how hateful and ignorant all the republicans look like in the media these days. Its easy to turn on someone different. I think its a scary time in our world right now and people need to start standing up for things that isnt fair. "We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented."
