Are there any $10 000 dollar houses like you see on the news for sale in America in Toronto?
Has anyone thought of buying a small piece of land and installing a trailer, modular housing, or shipping containers to make a house? http://www.prefabs.com/index.htm
You'd live on your street but instead of a house you have a tralier, little garden, patio etc right beside normal homes. Or can you just buy the back of a house that goes into the alley and build a mini-house or cabin with loft.
How much money do you have to make to buy a house? What is the sub-prime mortgage that you hear about on the news? Is it a good deal?

Looking for a lift to Montreal on Thursday/Friday & back to Toronto on Sunday/Monday.
Any of the next three weekends would work!
I'm a quiet non-smoker with an iron bladder (two stops is one more than I'm used to).
I will obviously contribute toward gas.
Please comment here (comments are screened) or email me at misskitty . 79 @ gmail . com
*fingers crossed*

Diner-style breakfast in Toronto

Hey everyone! First post here. I'm going to be a first-year U of T student in a few weeks, completely dependent on OSAP and UTAPS, so i'd say i probably fit in the category of "poor".
But my question's not about anything like that, really. I'm looking for a restaurant.
Preamble: I live in Stratford (Ontario). There's this restaurant here called Features, where my friends and i love to go for breakfast. It's pretty cheap, like in the 5-15 dollar range, so i figured it might help to ask here... four of us are going to be in Toronto this year and we're looking for a "New Features" that we can meet up at on weekends and stuff.
A very distinctive feature of Features (uh... excuse that) is that they have a breakfast called the Paul Bunyan (it's literally a cookie sheet PACKED with food, like 2 pancakes, 4 eggs, four pieces of toast, home fries, bacon... stuff like that) for $8. Is there a restaurant (preferably near U of T and/or Ryerson) that has anything like that?
Thanks so much!

Please, somone help her! Seriously! DO SOMETHING!
There's a very thin girl who panhandles in the Annex. You might have seen her wearing a "Queen's" hoodie. She's pretty and smiles a lot. Usually, she panhandle's between the Tim Horton's and Shopper's Drug Mart at Bloor and Spadina. She's very young. She told me that she's in grade 10. I was talking with her tonight in front of "Bloor SuperSave" and told me she has a bladder infection and needs money for a perscription. I know that its a lie because she's on OW and gets the Ontario Drug Benefit Plan.
Here's the story... She's on OW along with her boyfriend (what she told me) and live in a basement on Barton St in the Annex. I've done some asking around, and another underemployed girl who panhandles told me that that all the money the young girl makes goes to the thin young girl's boyfriend who buys crack with the money. Also, the boyfried pimps her out. I asked the underaged girl what her boyfriend was doing tonight and she said he was drinking with a friend.
Seriously, don't give this girl money. Her 23 yr old boyfriend takes it all. A lot of people give her money because she's really young. Her boyfriend is living off of her avails. She told me that her bf doesnt' take advantage of her and that he helps her but its all lies. She needs help; you'd know if you saw her.
Someone do somthing for her. What, I don't know. I would help her but you can't just take someone off the street, feed them, hold them captive so they don't smoke crack and are rescued from someone who's placing them in peril.

Hello, all..
I might be moving here in August and I was wondering if anyone knew of any companies that might be hiring. I'm mainly interested in call center/data entry type work until I find something in my field. I've been looking in monster.ca and workopolis. There seems to be alot out there but sometimes the easiest way to find work is through word-of-mouth which is why I'm here.
Thanks in advance :-)

Specifically, I'm looking to visit the Toronto Zoo, for their Sting Ray Bay, but the price of one adult admission is $20!
Do any of you know where one could find discount coupons?

Hi,
Are you starting to get worried about what's happening downtown with more and more affulent people displacing commoners? I'm worried that now, with gas and TTC costing even more, people are going to flood downtown and drive out: New Canadians, the elderly, the poor, pensioners, the disabled, working class families etc. So many condos are going up and only the rich are able to live downtown or buy houses in Seaton Village, Trinty-Bellwoods, Parkdale, Leslieville etc. The only poor left will be those who have no choice but to travel from the suburbs and to work in jobs at places like Tim Horton's. Soon, it'll be like we're just all "domestic" workers being grateful to have jobs taking care of other people's children; except in our case, serving the bourgeois who'll treat us like we just came in straight from the fields.
I don't want my fellow commoners exiled by rootless cosmopolitans invading the city.
Look what happened in Burlington VT how a grocery store closed in a poor area and it became some fancy organic food place and commoners had no place to buy Wonderbread. Soon all the poor will be exiled to the suburbs. :(
