dc activist bookclub
so i posted something back in april about starting a dc activist bookclub. i got a few responses, but i had *just* moved to the city from philly and ended up getting overwhelmed with all that is d.c. anyway... i would LOVE to try to organize the bookclub again. i wouldn't mind having people meet at my house (SE, kind of near eastern market) so we could be comfy and play good music and maybe eat some yummy food. anyway...if anyone is interested just let me know how to get ahold of you and i'll send out an email to everyone. i'm wicked excited! hilary | | Thursday, May 3rd, 2007 | 1:26 pm [hilmarie]

Knives on sale?
Chesapeake Knife and Tool is going out of business at Fair Oaks Mall on RT 50, about 20 miles west of DC. They have stuff you buy as graduation presents, fine pens, knives, LED flashlights, etc. They also have really good kitchen knives on sale too. There's not much selection left, but the stuff I got today was 40% off. | | Wednesday, March 15th, 2006 | 11:04 am [two_12]

Support Omaemoda Productions without spending any money
Ever wanted to support charity, but can't afford to donate? There is new and easy way to raise money for Omaemoda Productions just by searching the Internet with GoodSearch.com. It's simple. You use GoodSearch.com like any other search engine — the site is powered by Yahoo! — but each time you do, money is generated for Omaemoda. Just type in Omaemoda as the charity you're supporting. Last year, search engines generated close to $6 billion in revenue from advertisers. With GoodSearch part of this advertising revenue will now be directed to Omaemoda. We hope that not only will you use GoodSearch as your main search engine from here on out, but will also pass this message on to your friends and family. The more people who use this, the more money will go to Omaemoda Productions. Omaemoda Productions uses the performing arts to raise funds and awareness for charitable organizations in the DC area. We are also committed to the development of local performing arts talent. For more information about Omaemoda, visit http://www.YouAreInvolved.orgI hope this post is allowed, but I won't be offended if it's deleted. | | Friday, February 3rd, 2006 | 3:07 pm [saintlex]

world aids day
for every person who "lights a candle" on this page, $1 (up to $100,000 total) will be donated to aids/hiv research. all it takes is a click on where you live on the map and a candle is lit. think about it! http://www.lighttounite.com/ | | Tuesday, November 8th, 2005 | 12:35 am [lynzleigh]

help the kids of katrina!
just thought i'd leave something short and sweet....cheap way of donating someone else's money if you have none:) someone left me a link and it's the OXYGEN network's site where, if you sign up, they donate $1 to the New Orleans Children's Hospital fund (and will donate up to $10,000!). The money goes to help the kiddos and their families so everyone should click on it since typing up your email, name, and zip code takes all of 10 seconds. I appreciate it guys and I know those kids will too! (oh and they have a cool little 6 degrees of separation thing on the map too so maybe you'll find it nifty ) http://speakup.oxygen.com/campaigns/neworleans/register/a73bdccbd1be664bb28beeca32ac1ad0/ x posted | | Tuesday, August 30th, 2005 | 3:21 pm [saintlex]

desk donation
I have a large, heavy desk that I'd like to donate, but it'd have to be picked up. (I'm in Ballston.) Does anyone know of an organization that would be willing to do a pick-up, and soon? I called Goodwill, but they're booked through November! The desk is available to anyone who wants it, but it is so heavy that unless you're really strong and can bring a really strong friend with you to help ( and you or they have a truck), you probably wouldn't be able to get it out of our apartment. ;) Also, it's not the most useful thing in the world--it has a relatively large surface area, but only one small drawer. It's dark brown wood. Please let me know if you've got any ideas. I'd like to get this out of here ASAP, so if I can't find someone--or someplace--that wants it within a few days, I'll probably just get rid of it. THANKS! Liquidation sale!
Hi! I thought if you were in the DC/NoVA area, you might like to know that the Organized Living near the Fairfax Government Center is going out of business. Everything is 25% off. I went there after lunch today and bought some non-wire hangers for my coat closet and there was still some baskets and plastic tub organizers left. I figured this community might be interested it a good deal or organizing products. x-posted to goodbyeclutter. | | Saturday, June 18th, 2005 | 7:46 pm [artsystar]
