Quicky Drabbles

I have two strange request. Sorry if these are not allowed let me know and I'll delete the post.

I'm wondering if anyone has any Oswald pictures that are not in the art book. I'm looking for mostly doujinshi pictures but nothing to smutty. I would try and find them myself but most of the doujinshi I have seen are het and explicit and I use a public computer and can't be dl'ing stuff like that. ._.; Or if anyone could point me in the direction of a doujinshi website that has fanart, or name some safe doujinshi w/ cute art I'd really appriciate it.

Also it's been awhile since I played the game, and don't have the time to, and I'm in need to find some spoilers for the whole game that I can read through. Mostly Oswald's story line. If anyone would just want to spoil me or point me in the dirstion of a website or something I'd apprciate it.

Hey, all! I've been peeking in here off and on, and I figured I should go ahead and join. I've had this... kind of little project going on: a series of Odin Sphere drabbles based on the major arcana tarot cards. (Disclaimer: fftarot did it first, and way better; I just love tarot stuff and thought that Odin Sphere would fit into it really well.) These are the ones I've written so far:

Information request + projects

First off: I'm midway through Velvet's book, so even though I've already run across some of the major spoilers, try to avoid letting anything more slip to me here.

I've been spending much of the game juggling the characters' relationships in my head, and, well, I always liked those relationship charts that get released for anime with complicated character arrangements. I'm thinking of making one of those for Odin Sphere. My question is, does it already exist? I did some Googling, but I might have missed something. I will feel very silly if I go to the trouble of making something that complex and find out it's completely superfluous.

Another question, for my convenience: what level do you recommend having all the characters at before tackling the final book?

I'm also considering taking on Gwendolyn/Oswald for ship_manifesto once I've finished my current project there, but...obviously, that's going to wait till I've finished the game as well.

New Gwen x Oswald fic - Remember Spring?

I know it's been a while since I posted in here; doubly so since I posted any fanfic. But I just wrote something new last night and thought y'all would like to read it. inuyatta has mentioned wanting to read a fic in which Gwen tells Oswald she's pregnant. Here's my take on the scene.

“Will it ever stop raining?” Gwendolyn could barely hear her own voice above the rushing sound of raindrops on the stone overhead. She leaned back against the ruined stone wall behind her, letting it take the weight from her frame while she rested. The stone was cool and hard against her back, but the sensations were soothing after the tedious days of fighting she had seen.

She sighed, fingertips idly tracing wings where feathers were beginning to grow again, knowing she would soon be able to fly once more, even if not technically as a Valkyrie. She knew all too well the stones she had taken refuge amongst; they once comprised the great halls of Nebulapolis, her father’s castle. Even now, she swore if she sat quietly enough, she could hear his voice calling her name. Sometimes, she wandered through the ruins looking for any signs of life asides from herself. But there were no others left in this city, none had survived save herself and Oswald…

Oswald. Her fingers stilled their idle motions as her thoughts strayed to her husband. He had brought her here, to one of the few places in Erion that could provide them shelter. He often left for significant periods of time to scout the surrounding areas; indeed, many times he returned after she had fallen asleep, only to leave again before she had awakened. Yet she knew he had been there, she didn’t need to see him to know he was near.

She lifted her eyes back to the dull gray curtain of water that limited her view; not that there as much to view besides barren ground and rock. She recalled her father telling her she would be forced to love the man she was to marry. Well, if this emotion she felt was caused by a spell, she hoped it would never be lifted. Never in her life had she felt such warmth, such completeness, as she had with Oswald. He truly made her feel whole, like an individual instead of merely a warrior. She felt as though she had a purpose now, instead of wandering through her life waiting for someone to love her.

A purpose… She smiled a knowing smile, one hand moving to rest over her belly. She knew one purpose she had now, one born of their love. Her eyes closed, head tilting back as she remembered that night. They had just returned from the Netherworld, had just faced her father’s anger over her refusal to hand over the ring Titrel. After exchanging words of love, they had shared a passionate kiss before at last consummating their marriage.

Her smile increased, a slight blush tingeing her cheeks as she recalled that night. He was both powerful and gentle, equally giving and receiving. It had easily been the most wonderful night of her life, and now she had a new appreciation for it, in the form of the new life she now carried. A life she would protect at any costs, as she would that of her husband.

Idly, she wondered how Oswald would react to the news that he was to be a father. Would he be happy? Would he be shocked? Or would he –as she secretly feared- be angry and refuse to acknowledge his child? No, she knew him better. He would not be so cruel as to abandon his own flesh and blood.

Would he?

“Gwendolyn!” Oswald’s shout roused her from her thoughts, and she opened her eyes to see him running toward her. He must have found something, else he would have still been out scouting. She sat up straighter, hands smoothing the edges of her dress as she waited for him.

He approached her quickly, barely even winded from his exertion. “Gwendolyn,” he repeated, dropping to his knees. “I…I have the most wonderful thing to show you.” He took her hands in his, squeezing them gently between his palms. “Will you come with me?”

“Now?” She raised an eyebrow, looking at the rain the still continued to fall at a steady pace. “Now, when it’s still raining?”

He grinned, the gesture making her heart stop for a moment. “What better time?” he asked. Gently, he tugged at her hands, bringing her to her feet. “Besides, I think it would do you good to feel the rain on your face. Don’t you agree?”

Smiling, she finally gave in. “Very well, Oswald,” she replied. “Take me where you need to.”

“How much farther is it, Oswald?” she asked, feeling the start of fatigue creeping into her legs. It felt as though they had been walking for hours; and both the walking and climbing over rubble had fatigued her limbs greatly. All the while, the dull gray rain surrounded them. “Are we almost there?”

He tightened his grip on her hand briefly. “Yes, we’re nearly there,” he replied, tugging at her hand with a bit more urgency. “It isn’t much farther, only a few more feet.”

Passively, she allowed him to continue to lead her, her eyes scanning her surroundings for any signs of what he might have discovered. She was so preoccupied with what was around her that she walked into him when he stopped abruptly. He quickly turned and caught her in his arms, but her momentum threw him off-balance as well, as the pair fell to the wet ground in an ungraceful heap.

After several moments, she finally felt her breathing return to normal and her heart rate slow. She shifted so she could look at his face, feeling herself blush a bit as she saw him looking at hers in turn. “S-sorry,” she stammered out. “I wasn’t paying attention, and…”

“You aren’t hurt, are you?” His tone was low and soft, and she felt her breath quicken again as she heard it. Would she ever reach the day when his voice didn’t elicit this reaction in her? She hoped not.

She shook her head. “No, I’m fine,” she answered softly. “Thanks to you, I’m fine.”

He smiled gently, a gesture that made her feel even more lightheaded. “Look over there, Gwendolyn,” he whispered, helping her to a sitting position. “Look what I found.”

As she turned her head, Gwendolyn felt her eyes widen a bit in surprise. There, amid the barren rocks, grew a single flower. Its blue petals reached toward the sky, toward the life-giving rain, while its emerald leaves spread parallel to the ground, as though attempting to drink even more of it in. Her lips formed a small circle of surprise, before melding into a smile. This had been worth coming out of hiding to see.

“It’s the first of spring.” She heard his words in her ear, even as she felt his arms slide around her, drawing her to lean back against him. “Remember spring? When everything is born and grows anew?”

“Yes,” she whispered. “I remember.” How could she have forgotten so easily?

As though on cue, she felt the rain begin to slow, a few feeble rays of sunlight piercing through the thick clouds. One errant beam shone directly onto the solitary blossom in front of them, its beauty making her gasp in delight. “Oswald, it…it’s so lovely.” She leaned back further in his arms, letting her head rest against his shoulder. “Thank you for bringing me here.”

He didn’t reply with words, but with his lips pressing gently to her forehead. She smiled, knowing what she wished to say next. “Oswald,” she whispered, shifting her head where it lay on his shoulder.

“What is it, Gwendolyn?” His voice was a whisper as well.

“I…” she paused, searching for the right words briefly before deciding to just tell him. “I’m going to have a baby.”

She felt his arms tighten around her, saw his smile even before his face turned to hers. “Are you?” he asked, his expression a mixture of disbelief and happiness.

She nodded. “I am,” she replied.

She felt her heart race as a smile spread slowly across his lips, and as she felt those lips meet hers, she knew she had all she needed right here. With him.

Whoever sent the rain…Thank you.

Now that we've covered Gwendolyn, let's look at Oswald.

I was going through the Odin Sphere artbook yesterday, and noticed one thing about Oswald's armour that struck me as rather odd.

His armour plates- the round, silver plate-shaped ones are engraved not with "Ringford" or "Elfaria" or even "Melvin"- they say "Titania" and "Gallon". With reference to certain....events much later in the game, what are everyone's thoughts on this?

So I was perusing some fanfiction the other day and I came across a fic in which Gwendolyn's wings were attached to her. I had assumed they were a piece of her armor, but it does sort of explain why she's able to fly at all. What do you all think?

Well, hello. I'm new here, as lame as that is to make for a greeting. Like the rest of you, I love Odin Sphere and was happy to finally get a hold of this rare gem from a friend who was no longer interested in his copy.

(tl;dr warning up ahead. Seriously, I feel a bit nerdy about talking about this game so much, but I must confess I love it to itty bits and was attached to it 'till the very end. Mind you, I haven't felt this way for a game in awhile -- Previous titles were Xenosaga Episode III, Klonoa: Door to Phantomile, and Final Fantasy IX.)

I always seem to fall in love with games that have bittersweet endings. I guess it's due to my realistic nature, as I know not everything can be happy songs of life and what-not. It isn't to say I never wish for a good ending though, I merely wish to see more happy endings in my games. :P

Anyways, I did play out the bad ending four times to ensure I would obtain all the scenes before doing the good ending. That, and I'd feel a little dread if I were to play the good ending first and then play to see everyone get slaughtered.

I have to say I felt the worst seeing Mercedes and Ingway's scene together in the bad ending, this was easily the most dramatic out of the false-ending scenes. Second easily goes to Oswald's bad ending against Onyx. I never did like that guy. I can assure you I had a huge frown sitting on my face the entire time.

The bosses were easy, albeit I struggled with Mercedes against the Cauldron because apparently she's a closet fan of slip 'n' slide or something. Onyx hands down was the easiest simply because he wastes too much time flinching to leave himself open for a barrage of napalms. *Snerk*

I was pleased with the ending, but I guess you can say my heart stun a bit when I was quick to learn it's a thousand years into the future. By that, I felt a little down for how Velvet was quick to mention Gwendolyn and Oswald have long been dead (this is when I shed a tear. Feel free to laugh). Silly reasoning, but they were my favorite characters and I adapted to them the most out of the five. At least they succeeded with their role in restoring the world.

On the other hand, I felt the worst for Mercedes because she got the short-end of the stick. Poor girl didn't even live beyond Armageddon, sans that hint in the ~fin~ screen, but at least she put Onyx in his place. I felt she got the most character development out of the five and while I initially disliked her (because let's face it: no one likes a brat), I grew to like her for becoming a great leader. That's what made her into a respectable character that I grew to like.

Spoilerific stuff aside, I merely give some thoughts on the gameplay for some of the characters.

Like about 80% of the fanbase, my favorite characters were Gwendolyn and Oswald because I liked their fighting styles the best and felt the most comfortable with them. Lame, but I love the berserker style of Oswald, while I liked the faster combo potential Gwendolyn had (sans her fourth-hit in her standard attack). Besides, I liked their stories the most.

I might present some fanart once I get out of my block and I stop being sad about the ending. D: I feel like drawing Cornelius because he was one cool dude... and there doesn't seem to be much fanart for the guy.

Similarities between Odin Sphere and Swan Lake?

So this mostly has to do with Gwendolyn, but I'm definitely seeing some parallels between Gwendolyn and Odette and Oswald and Siegfried.

Gwendolyn/Odette:
- Birdlike images, Gwendolyn's dress resembles a tutu, it's white (along with her hair)
- Odette was captured and spellbound - in a way, Gwendolyn is bound in much the same way, though by her own emotional issues and her father's negligence
- Later, she is bewitched and must be woken by love or lose her will forever.

Oswald/Siegfried:
- Led to Gwendolyn by birds (Siegfried is led by swans)
- Takes pity upon the swan upon seeing that she is trapped and falls in love with her.
- Swears his love to her and finds a way to break the spell she is under through selfless love.

It kind of diverges after that, but I think the comparison is significant. Thoughts?

I will eventually post fanart, for now I need a lil assistance with the game...

I started the game on the weekend and am now halfway through Mercedes' story. I expect to complete the game this week and was wondering something:

When I go back to the stories to level my characters for the sixth book, do they make you play though the character's entire story, or can you get away with a few chapters?

I'm surprisingly enjoying this game. A friend insisted I get it, but its taken me several months to actually take it off my shelf - silly me!

I am surprised because this is extremely different to my usual RPG experience - to raise your HP you consume foods, the process of growing and purchasing your food, no need to traverse large maps to find your destination and starting from scratch for each story. What's also weird for me is that I don't need a guide for this game, the path is basically laid out for you and due to the combat system, you have to think on your feet, so you can't just follow set directions on how to win your battles. With that said, I have barely touched the guide I printed out, and even when I did consult it for bosses, it wasn't useful. The one time it did me good was near the end of Pooka Prince, it saved me by telling me to make a handful of napalm for the slimes (also useful against the boss!).

I rushed through the first book, which got me into trouble with some bosses, but I managed with 21lvl HP. For the second I ended with 26HP and plan to be around that for the others. Taking your time to make meals is so worth it to have a decent amount of HP. But that's the go with any RPG.

These are some wonderful characters and I'm enjoying their woven stories. It's nice to play a game where you enjoy the company of all your characters, unlike some games *cough*FFXII*cough*

It isn't as pretty as the reviews say. OK, it's really beautiful and all, but not to the extent that I want to ogle and drool. Alot of games are pretty, I don't see why this one is so special. @_@

I don't see myself replaying this (too many games), but it is one to rec, especially to button mashers - because I am a button masher and this game will teach you that you can use your head.

By the by, is it just me, or is everyone in this game blond? @_@

Cosplay question

OK, due to unexpected circumstances and finances, our group got started very late on a majority of the cosplay. I've done Oswald's chest armor and shoulder pieces with wonderflex, as well as his leg greaves.

I'm not sure I have enough wonderflex left for everything else. I might have just enough left for the big obnoxious thigh armor that sticks out and pokes you.

That said, are there any suggestions for alternatives that look right that don't cost a buttload?

In the meantime, I still need to finish Gwen's leg armor and wings. DX

AX is next month...I'm not sure we'll make the due date. Which might be fine, since it means less stuff to check in (and lordy, if you've checked rates lately for flying from Dallas to LA...to say that it puts a dent in your finances is like saying the ocean is damp).

But yeah, that's where we're at right about now. ;-; Any suggestions? We're thinking about messing with fiberglass resin, so any tips with that are appreciated as well.
