Ok -- just wanted to make sure everyone was on the same page... Our GOH's this year are Peter Alway and Judi Miller. Enjoyment is not an option, it is compulsory!!!

Pondfilk is NOT next weekend, it's the following weekend. June 27 through 29 or 30 or when you arrive to when you leave.

Most people will be arriving Friday with a couple in the studio for the week prior and a few arriving, like the GOH's on Thursday night.

Sad news, Alyssa and Luis have just had to cancel :( I have much sadness in my heart as I had bead geeking plans...

Workshops are still available for those clamoring for them... you ask, we'll try to fill...
guitar, harmony, dulcimer...(beading, card making...)

Plans are in the works for a Live CD recording from Pondfilk VIII for Interfilk Auction at OVFF. So, before you are captured for posterity (optional -- you must opt in) practice, practice and... bring something fun and easy for us all to learn.

Friday night we have Ukrainian Cultural Centre dinner plans (again, optional)
Tall ships Saturday walk around
Sunday night -- we open stage the folk -- Main Stage is Tom Lewis -- Shantyman.
Monday -- well, if you've still got energy and are here - we have music planned...

If anyone can't bring their guitar we have about 14 here so, not to panic. Ditto dulcimers

OH, and we know who our 2009 Pondfilk IX GOH is and we're not telling until Pondfilk VIII is well done :p

Pondfilk VIII yes, #8 is still on for the 26 -- 29th ish of June. No Fathers Day conflicts, no Eastern Filk conflicts. Not even a Conflikt conflict :)

We will still have pet free sleeping areas but, if not already aware this household has a significant number of pet partners. 8 cats and 2 dogs to be precise. Now, 4 of these cats are of an extremely low allergen breed but still, they are cats. They are very social cats i.e. if you only have one of them draped on you you're probably just in the lineup for attention.

Peter Alway is as confirmed going to be our Honoured Guest or GOH. He's available for concert, dulcimer workshop and jamming. We've got at least 1 maybe more guitar workshops planned and we might even get a little bit of studio time in at PondsideMusic's own ProTools studio.

Don't forget to bring something for the Interfilk Auction and bring money to ensure you can bid yourself out of getting stuck with something that frightens you. -- ask Rick and John how they felt about the pink poodle purse and baby blue mohair purses they were each required to carry around in 2007.

Remember, we have both budget hotels, Boutique Hotels and B&B's within 3 blocks of our venue so -- you need to plan well in advance. Victoria in the Summer is dribbled with Touri and "Be Prepared" is more than just a Tom Lehrer song.

Hope to see you there...

Is going very well. My dad wanted to make sure I stayed round the house and rested as much as possible so my wallet and keys and laptop power supply are all missing -- this is not a bad thing (as long as they show up after we are breaking down the set)

Edit: - as soon as the last of the "leaving Sunday" guests had left, Roz found my wallet. Hidden behind the table leaves that were removed and stored after dinner the first night. We had _all_ looked in every room at least twice each.

The folks here are awesome. Puzzlebox has decided that they like us :) they really like us!

We're hoping they can make it back next year as honoured guests as opposed to guests of honour.

Next Pondfilk will be June 26/7 to June 30ish 2008. Peter Alway will be a Guest Of Honour (right Peter?) and we'll not have personal tragedy planned for the event. Last year my dad's death, this year my Yorkie...

The GOH's performed 2 concerts, bbq'd many many many protein veg and meat things and filking still goes on and on and on. We like it!!!!

The Interfilk Auction raised $328.00 with kudos to the lovely lady that donated the needlework and many thanks to the folks who bid lots to ensure that Rick Weiss and drfilk both were carrying purses home :)

Harlock and Heidi are going to be wonderful parents! They have been lavishing special love on petal all weekend and making sure she gets out for potty breaks. Very sweet and attentive!!

The music is of course wonderful this year and I've never heard such beautiful chorus as when I came up the stairs from the basement to the mens voices raised in a Cat Faber tune of power and ose. purrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Even though I've slept through a good chunk of this con due to fever and other things it has been wonderful and everyone has done their bits and more to help. I rolled a 1.2 in hostess this year and, that's not such a bad thing either.

Thank you all that are here -- you are a wonderful wonderful group of humans.
FYI Since Sh#t happens and it has -- here is some info on alternate accomodations.

Depending on whether my father is alive or not, healthy and mobile or not it may affect the rooms and beds available. We may have to bring in a nurse to help him that weekend which would make a couple of beds in Oceanside not available for filkers....
As previously stated, there a few B&B's in the neighbourhood (quite a few)

I just got a "friends rate" on this one 4 blocks from pondside http://tinyurl.com/fjga2 per room. We can have for $100 per night (king bed or breaks down to 2 twins (we're buying the bed when they sell the house) I'd buy the house but I don't have a spare $900,000 + taxes.

this one http://www.cottagepirouette.com/rooms.html is one block from the house $88 to $135 per night for 1, extra person $10 more.

This one, 2 blocks from pondside - http://www.victoriabandbs.com/suites.html used to belong to my (rich side) family as part of their hotel complex but... it's pricier but more luxuriously appointed. $145 to $175 per night. (I think that's a LOT but... thought I'd provide the info)

This one, next door to the one above used to be my cousin's huge house http://tinyurl.com/l8hgw this room accomodates up to 4 people for $99 per night (and is still available for the Pondfilk dates)

Then, there are also hotels in town and along the Gorge strip....

So -- anyone that does not want to sleep in tent, airmattress, floor or hidabed -- these are options.

Well, we've been figuring out beds and stuff and it seems almost everyone has some sort of crash space except us.

I'll be asking for help to clear out garden shed - I think we may end up sleeping in there.

There are not enough people staying for Sunday night to warrant a show at the Folk on that night for Main Stage so we'll either just do open stage or, stay home and relax. Depends on what Jeff and Maya would like to do (you guys too of course).

We've got breakfast/lunch at Blue Fox (the place we get bread from) planned for the Monday before people head out.

I'm hoping that my Bass Dulcimer will be delivered to Portland before it's time to travel up here...

Dad hospital or no, well or no, alive or no, Pondfilk VI is on 'cause that is our yearly refill of joy.

This year our GOH(s) are Jeff and Maya Bohnhoff. Keeping in mind that we are a small filk con with a concom of 2 (Douglas and Juliana) contributions of time, work and $$ are always accepted.

The plan is for is to have ourselves ready to go, catering sorted and beds assigned prior to the influx of our "membership". In addition to those crash spaces available to Pondside and Oceanside, we also have a fine selection of B&B's and hotels for those with $$ requiring sleep at some point. Off site crash space is also available at a couple of friends.

While Victoria hotels are pricy during the summer, in reality they are no more pricy than many of the hotels we con at so - that is an option.
