So, Mochi is pretty much the best thing that has ever happened to my life. She's amazing and sweet and adorable, but I'm having a little trouble with paper training and leaving her in a puppy pen (separate problems.) The paper training is going ok as long as he has the paper in sight, but sometimes I feel like she just has no clue where to go.

The other thing is that she will not stop whining and barking when I leave her in a puppy pen. Sometimes if I say "No" over and over eventually she'll quiet down, but I can't get her to stop in general. The other thing is that my boyfriend is coming up for our anniversary in 10 days and he doesn't want her sleeping on the bed with us. I've been trying to get her to sleep in the puppy pen, but it just doesn't work. She just barks and barks and barks. It's actually a little worse I think, just because she's so well behaved except for these two things. Like she'd rather fall asleep on my lap at dinner than beg for scraps. And she's just so cute. I just want to figure out how to deal with this.

If anyone has any experience with either of these two problems, what did you do about it? How long did the problem last?

Thanks,
Tam

I know they're dogs and they're going to play, I'm not trying to stop that, I'm just worried. Does anyone have any ideas..?

Hi! My name's Allison. I'm a new member with a new Pomeranian puppy named Riley. He is ten weeks old and weighs two pounds. He had his first visit to the veternarian yesterday and his first bath today.

He's very sweet and a great escape artist - he's always finding the weak spots and little holes when he's fenced in. He's mostly red, with white tips on his feet, like spats!

Here are a few photos of Riley with his favorite toy, a little chew-rope. ♥

He is mostly a pleasure, but he does whine and whimper quite a bit when I leave him to go to bed. He has complete access to food, water, and his bed in a contained area - but he still whimpers loudly. It's hard to ignore, but I don't want to reward his "naughty" crying with too much attention!

Okay, my pomeranian [Lucas] is a little over a year old. I've never had his hair cut/trimmed because last summer he shed it all. Well summer's just beginning and it's getting hot now and I'm thinking about trimming his hair. Mind you I've never had his hair trimmed before so I'm a little nervous after reading stories online about how the hair doesn't grow back as long, etc etc.

So my question really is what should I get trimmed, and how much of it?

<lj-embed id="5" />

Pom Grooming Tips

Being the owner of a 5 year old pom, I would say he's pretty good about grooming. Granted, he's not exactly enthusiastic about the baths and brushing, but besides the whole puppy transitional period of GOOD GOD LADY WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO DROWN ME and the squirming fits of me chasing him around the house with a grooming brush, he's actually been really good about our hygiene schedule.

But... he's always had this thing about his butt. For the life of us, we cannot groom his behind. We wash it pretty well (he's ok with that) but the biggest problem for us is the brushing. I can't get a groom brush there without him sitting down and staring at me, as if saying, try again sucker. I've done everything I could without stressing him out and have just gotten into the habit of cutting the fur back there really short, so it doesn't get matted and uncomfortable.

So how do you groom your pom's behind? There's a lot of fur back there and I'm determined to get it to look nice.

My pom got her paws on a diet bar - what to do?

Hey guys, quick health question.

My cute little pom, Chloe, has gotten her paws on one of my dad's diet bars. He left it on his nightstand, which he rarely does (and is very upset that he did), and we think she ate it, because he left the room for a few moments and it was gone. It was walnut (or pecan? I can't find the box) and chocolate I believe. We're worried she's going to get very sick - should we contact a vet in the morning? She seems fine and he's going to be keeping an eye on her tonight, but of course there is concern.

She never gets people food unless it falls on the floor or, like this incident, she steals it from a low or reachable table (and the biggest she's gotten hold of before is a cookie, I think). I know some people give their dogs people food, like ice cream and hamburger leftovers, but she's a tiny thing (under 5 pounds) and it was a whole bar.

Advice would be great, especially if this has happened to you.

I'm not too sure whats wrong with Keiko..
I woke up to her growling (which she NEVER does) and rubbing her butt all
over the floor. So I got up and checked and thought she needed a little hair cut
back there. So after cutting her fur a little, she kept doing it. So I look a little
closer and it LOOKS like she started her period. But im not sure if she
really did, of if something basically cut her. But my poor baby is not happy,
she keeps freaking out. She wont even leave the bathroom, and she always
happily runs out after me when I leave the bathroom. She wont even take
her toy. Anybody have any idea as to whats going on? :/
