I'm sure some of you guys must be on the polyamory group on facebook. Have any of you been contacted by a Jess Bowie? With a message along the lines of the below?
"Hi Ben,
I am a freelance journalist and I'm very interested in writing a feature on polyamory. I joined this group in the hope that I might interview some poly folk who would be willing to share their experiences.
I am a very liberal-minded person and the article would be about giving polyamorists a voice, allowing them to bust myths (and perhaps finding out their responses to Vicky Christina Barcelona!)
Do let me know if you're interested in having a chat,
Best wishes,
Jess"
Does anyone know whether consenting to said interview would be a good/bad idea?

This was forwarded to me to pass on. My partner E spoke to them and said they sounded reasonably clueful. They are willing to have participants use pseudonyms. Grant
We are looking for a member of a triad who would be willing to be interviewed on our programme next Thursday morning, 26th February. The discussion is tied in to the UK release this month of Woody Allen's 'Vicky Christina Barcelona' in which Scarlett Johanssen, Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem enjoy a menage a trois for a while. We thought it would make an interesting discussion to explore what it takes to make a Triad work: the challenges, benefits, attitudes of others, practical considerations, what happens when a child is involved...
We also hope to involve an academic in the discussion, someone who can give us the wider view & social context.
Please could replies be sent to my colleague Corrina Jones at rinonthemove@hotmail.com
Many thanks in advance,
Rachel

You know the three... I just had a lovely evening with Matthew (the BF) but thats not the point of this - and txt him to say I'm home safe, thanked him for a lovely evening too. His reply? No, thank you. Is it ok to say I love you?
Will someone please pick me up off the floor? The man who when we met said he wasn't sure poly was for him, has just asked if its ok to say he loves me! I said of course its ok if he wants to say it, and added that he can say it any darn time he likes too. He has no idea how long I have waited to hear those words, and had figured on not hearing them ever, cos thats just how he is. He once said to me I'm very special but he's just not romantic like that.
The man has just asked if its ok! Now I'm just wait to hear tem said...

Just joined up on this comm after lurking for a while in the Polyamory comm of which I am no longer part.
So about us? We are currently a triad relationship, with myself and the Husband as the primary relationship, and I also have a lovely guy I see called Matthew. Used to be a quad of sorts, though Husband's girl has gone AWOL since xmas as she sorts out problems with her primary.
Husband and I have been definitely poly for about 5 years now, after starting a relationship with a lovely lady, who let us in to the fact there was a name for this. Though we drifted apart we shall always be grateful for her education on how to conduct sucessful poly relationships, and that it wasn't so unusual as we thought. Matthew is coming around the the poly angle slowly, and has dealt with a lot of personal issues about his attraction to me.
We are all slowly finding our feet in this dynamic and it's working out ok. I though I'd best introduce us all if I'm going to be here for a bit

Next meeting of the meetup group (see http://polyamory.meetup.com/28/ for details) is next Tuesday, at Penderel's Oak, Holborn (http://www.jdwetherspoon.co.uk/pubs/pub-details.php?PubNumber=506)
The manager was kind enough to reserve space for us at the back of the bar. If you need any encouragement to attend, I think the numbers will probably be a bit on the low side this month and we could really do with anyone who can turning up. Otherwise I may not be able to reserve space for us for next month.
Look for the parrot! And smile, or say hello, or something - I'm not psychic! ;-)

How do you know if a relationship has run it's course when your partner is financially looking after you?

A note to inform anyone who isn't on the Meetup group site that we've moved the venue for November's meetup.
It will be held at Penderel's Oak, on the ground floor (wheelchair accessible, I'm told), towards the back.
The address of the pub is:
283-288 High Holborn, WC1V 7HP London WC1V 6 020 7242 5669
The meetup is scheduled to start at 7:30pm.
So far there are 13 Yes RSVPs on the site and a bunch of Maybes.
I have a new baby Jabber (beanie parrot) thanks to M and it's small enough to fit into a handbag so shouldn't get lost on the way home this time. ;-)
If there's room and I can get away with it I may give it some flying lessons in the pub.

1) What time does it start? The front page says 10am, but the What's When page says "Registration opens: 11:00am"
2) The Dossie Easton workship is going to be hugely popular, Im sure. Are you taking bookings for this? Some of us are paying for an extra night in London so we can go to this, and we'd really rather not find it's full...

Sadly I won't be able to get to Polyday this year. I hope you all have a great time. There are several of you I would have loved to have seen again.
In the meantime:
Apologies to anyone who has already seen my recent post in my personal LJ, but, if you know me and see this post, can you please hop over to my LJ and read the important post linked to below:
http://saintmaryuk.livejournal.com/124104.html
I am posting here to catch anyone who knows me through this group, but isn't in the habit of reading my personal journal.
Thank you lovely people. Sorry to those who my have already seen this elsewhere.

After what seems like a very sucessful BiCon this year, my thoughts turn to Poly Day.
Having booked our accomodation and travel now (Yehhhaaaa!) we are wondering if we have to book for the Dossie Easton workshops on the Sunday? As we would hate to turn up and be turned away if workshops were full having booked travel and accomodation for a Sunday night stay.
Cheers!

Does anyone know when on the 14th of September this 3-hour workshop is scheduled? (Even roughly, as in 'morning', 'midday', 'afternoon', 'early evening', etc.?) I've been checking both the Polyday and Radical Ecstasy websites hoping for an update with actual details, but no dice so far. I imagine I'm not the only one here coming from outside of London and whose travel plans are contingent upon the actual time the workshop concludes. Many thanks in advance.

London Polyamory Meetup Group meets on Tuesday 6th May at The Blues Posts on Newman Street, off Oxford St. in the upstairs bar.
People foregather any time after six and you can stay until pub closing time if you wish. There's no need to arrive at any particular time, just drop in and stay as long as you like. Food is available if you arrive early enough - the kitchen often closes at eight so if you want a meal it's best to arrive before that.
I'll have to print out a picture of a parrot this time as one of my beloveds managed to leave our Polly Parrot on the train on the way home last month!
We've twelve Yes RSVPs and 6 Maybes at meetup.com currently so it's looking like a good turnout.
Hope to see some of you there.

Bifest and other Upcoming Events: Apologies for cross-posting
London BiFest is just over 1 month away. It will take place at Doggetts Coat and Badge (the usual venue) from 1pm – late (http://london.bifest.org/). There’ll be a range of workshops in the daytime followed by dancing and DJs or chatting in the evening from 8pm.
Some of you might also be interested in some other events that are happening in the months following:
Dossie Easton Workshop: On the evening of Weds 21st May legendary writer and sex educator Dossie Easton will be in London leading a brief workshop on BDSM and tantra. There will be a weekend workshop by Dossie on the same topic on September 20th and 21st. Justin Allen is organizing these events and tickets will be available at BiFest. See www.DossieEastonLondon.com for details.
BiRecon: Prior to BiCon this year we will be having a day which gives bi people to opportunity to have their say with a number of LGBTQ and other organisations (hopefully including mental health charities, police services, governmental representatives, etc.). This will take place at Leicester University on Thursday 28th August. Let me know if you’d like to present research, facilitate a workshop, or attend and have your say
Polyday: Polyday is becoming poly-weekend this year. Taking place on 13th and 14th September there will be the usual day of workshops and dancing on the Saturday followed by an optional 3 hour workshop with Dossie Easton (author of The Ethical Slut) on the Sunday. The event will be at Doggetts as usual. Details on www.polyday.org.uk
