The Howler is a frequently seen and particularly fearsome example:
Community Rules
1) No flaming, unwarranted insults, or ad hominem attacks. Obviously we understand that people get worked up over their politics and sometimes discussions get heated. Just trust that we can tell the difference between that and a chronic shit-disturber.
2) No advertising. No campaigning. Period. If you have some doubt as to whether your post is doing either, it probably is.
3) No off-topic posts. If it's not in some way, shape, or form related to government or politics, it's off-topic. Thats pretty broad so you've got little excuse for running afoul of this one.
4) No linking to private journals or threads on other communities.
5) Please do not post news stories or editorials by themselves. This is a discussion forum, not a newsreel.
6) Absolutely never ever ever disable or delete comments. That is a job for the MODERATORS ONLY! This is considered a banning offense.
7) Repeated and insistent posting of blatantly offensive image macros is considering trolling.
8) Nuisance posts such as those which are excessively long with no lj-cut or contain excessively graphics heavy images will be deleted and may be reposted with cut. The moderators feel guilty when we have to do this so dont make us do it.
