Wow, I thought the number was more like 200,000. Which is still a lot of people.

Alas it seems to be the case tha few folk even amongst those in power seem to have a handle on the complexities of the situations in which they intervene: or if they do, they seem to regard the problems inherent in the complexities as things to be ignored.
Perhaps you will be one of those enlightening the folk on your side of the aisle....your mission, should you choose to accept it.....this tape will self-destruct in
