Silly Breeding Question [Jul. 11th, 2008|05:08 pm]

Okay!  So I'm pretty much finished in-game, but I don't want to delete my file due to the obscene amount of usable and/or legendary Pokemon on my Ranch.  Anyway, I used my Grass Knot TM on my Roserade, not thinking about the fact that I couldn't use it again if I wanted, say, an Infernape with Grass Knot at a later point, for competitive purposes.

Which brings me back to Ranch...Hayley's trade Pikachu has Grass Knot, and it's male, so can that become an egg move for other Pokemon, or am I out of luck?

I've been mass-producing pokemon to both left, right and backwards this weekend, but because my home still lacks wireless internet I can't share with you all my collection of Night Slashing Torchics... >:

Instead, I'd like a wee bit of help. I'd like to breed me a Treecko for private use, though I'm having trouble deciding for Crunch or Magical Leaf for his/her Egg Move. Preferably both, but is it possible? If it is, how would I do it? I'm no good at figuring out complicated breeding... D:

Also, I came across a pokemon site waaaay long ago, with an... eggdex? You could input the pokemon and the egg moves you wanted it to know, and the site would calculate the possible ways to go about breeding your wanted pokemon with said moveset. I can't for my life remember what that site was called though... Anyone knows what I'm talking about? Or did I dream it all up?

I've got all of that cleared up now (Thanks y'all! <3) but I just remembered I forgot to ask something very vital.

While playing pokemon all through the night, I noticed something, around 5 am. That being, my pokeymanz contracted Pokerus. :D -insert squeal of utter glee here-

Now, problem is, I don't really know much about it... I know it doubles the amount of EVs a pokemon gains, but that's just about it. How do I make sure not to lose it? And if a pokemon "recovers" from it, can it get contaminated again? Like... I pretty much need a full lecture on this thing, sorry for not understanding half a word of what Serebii.net tells me... xX;;

Mystery Egg Giveaway! [Dec. 13th, 2007|06:15 am]

[mood | silly]

And so, today I figured that I have all eighteen boxes full. I have a bunch of eggs, some have egg moves, some don't. A couple of those are Pichus with Volt Tackle, if you're interested. You might also encounter Feebas or Misdreavus, as I bred a lot of those (Croagunks are also available upon request!). But I have absolutely no idea which one is which, so - here's the egg giveaway! If you'd like some (any amount is fine!), let me know!

If you're feeling generous, I'd gladly take absolutely anything, but you don't have to - as always. Any TMs, Items, Berries, Fodder, whatever you want.

I really need to update my trade list.

Note: I'll be online for a few more hours.

OUT!! Thanks to everyone who helped out!

Is it possible to breed an Eevee with both Wish and Yawn?

I've been looking at breeding chains for it but I can't for the life of me figure out one that would actually work.

edit: I thought about Smeargle but I can't think of where i could get both wish and yawn off of pokemon in the wild

Thanks very much for the answer. Can't believe it didn't occur to me to try that.

Does anyone know if you breed egg-moves onto a pokemon, but then decide to overwrite them, can you use the Move-Relearner to remember them again?

This is for D/P, if anyone wants to get specific. :3

I have never bred a pokemon for moves on purpose, so it's a bit confusing when I get beyond the very basics.

Example: Eevee can learn Yawn and Tickle as egg moves. I know Aipom learns tickle, and Bidoof learns Yawn. How would I get BOTH of those on the same Eevee?

How to pass down a move to another pokemon? [Jun. 14th, 2007|10:54 pm]

I looked at breeding guides but it doesn't answer my question.

In my FireRed, I'm trying to breed my Persian with a Ditto so that the move "Thief" could be passed down to the offspring but the move doesn't seem to be passing down. Is Thief limited to just one pokemon?

My persian is female. Does this matter?

This post is to replace the little list of frequently asked questions in the userinfo (which is going to be updated in a few days). Hopefully this'll be a bit more organized on a separate post than just on the userinfo.

Only comment to add more questions, comments are screened and will probably be deleted after the question has been added to the list.

Breeding Dilemma: Females and Egg Moves [Jun. 6th, 2007|12:55 am]

[mood | discouraged]

For a while I've been working to breed a Spoink that knows Extrasensory, which can only be accomplished by breeding a Vulpix with a Spoink or Grumpig. My main problem was that the only Vulpix I had was a low level, so I traded with a friend to get a higher-level Vulpix so it would be easier to train to level 44 (where it learns Extrasensory)... but it was female, when I needed a male. I looked up the egg moves of Vulpix to make sure that Extrasensory was on the list.

"Okay," I thought, "I'll just breed it with a Ditto first, and then when I get a male Vulpix to hatch I'll breed that with my Grumpig to get a Spoink with Extrasensory."

So I then trained the Vulpix using an Exp. Share while I leveled up a few other Pokemon I was training. After a couple of days the Vulpix made it to level 44 and I taught it Extrasensory. I then went back to Solaceon and stuck it in the daycare with a Ditto in hopes that I would finally get a male Vulpix with Extrasensory. The first egg I got I hatched quickly, and as luck would have it it was a male Vulpix! I checked out its stats and then went on to the moves.

It only knew Ember. No Flamethrower, no Payback, no Will-O-Wisp, no Extrasensory.

Needless to say I was extremely unhappy!! I hatched the next Vulpix egg and sure enough, this one also only knew Ember. I then went to the GTS and traded for a male Vulpix (level 24), and so now I'm just going to just have to level THIS one up until it learns Extrasensory in order to breed with my Grumpig and finally, FINALLY get the Spoink with the move that I desire.

So! My question is "will breeding a Ditto with a female Pokemon yield a new Pokemon that has egg moves passed on from the mother, since the 'father' only knows Transform?" I really want to think that this was just a fluke... but I'm asking to make sure.
