Trace or Synchronize? [Aug. 2nd, 2008|10:25 pm]

So I was passing over my beloved team the other day when I noticed something. My Timid Gardevoir has Synchronize, not Trace, ohnoez. Then I started comparing the two abilities to see if I had to hunt down a Wifi spot to trade it to someone with PokéSav to get it hacked to Trace, and decided...no, I don't.

Trace can grab useful things like Serene Grace and Volt Absorb, I'll grant it that. (I wrecked a Jolteon without Shadow Ball that way, in fact.) However, there are some truly terrible abilities floating around out there, some in OU, that I would not want my Gardevoir to Trace.

Now, Synchronize...

Question!

Milotic's special ability is Marvel Scale which says that its boosts Defense if there is a status problem.
If you cure the status problem, does Milotic lose that extra Defense, or does it stay?
Because it would be awesome to have that and pair it with Refresh (cures status conditions). :D

A bit of trading via the GTS has me curious... [Aug. 20th, 2007|11:37 pm]

I recently got a Cherrim from Japan. In the Kanto region, even, so I can tell people I got a Cherrim from Kanto! XD

Anyways, the real question: I looked it up on the Wikipedia, and Cherrim can learn Worry Seed, and that got me wondering... If you used Worry Seed in a double battle with Slaking or some other Pokemon whose ability hinders it, would that negate that original ability and ultimately help a bunch? I'm starting to think that may be a good combo to test out. Can anybody with a Slaking and something with Worry Seed test that out for me? Much appreciated!

So, what was that one special ability that's supposed to make it 50% more likely to encounter fire Pokémon?

Porygon line question [Jun. 25th, 2007|01:36 am]

I'm sorry to keep asking this, but I'd like to confirm it since the next chance I'll have to evolve my Porygon is Tuesday, and if I need a new Porygon then I need to get it by tomorrow. XD; And that means battling enough on LG to buy enough coins for it. ^^;;

I've been told that there is a 50% chance that a Porygon-Z will have Download or Adaptability no matter what it had as a Porygon2, and also that it does not depend on stats. Does anyone know what it is based on?

I'm set on an Adaptability Porygon-Z. I EV-trained my Porygon in LG, cloned it in Emerald and Pal Parked 5 of them into my Diamond - so they're all clones, just the same. I've evolved them all into Porygon2s and they all have Download. I evolved one of them into a Porygon-Z and it kept Download. Since they are clones, is there a chance that one of them will have Adaptability as a Porygon-Z, or do I need a new Porygon?

A question about Porygon-Z...

If I start with a Porygon with Trace will I end up with a Porygon-Z with Adaptibility or is it random which ability it'll end up with when it evolves?

I'm not sure if abilities work like gender or not... you know, how your female Azurill can turn into a male when it evolves...

It would just suck to lose an upgrade and a dubious disc to end up with the wrong Porygon-Z.
