Tutorial

  • Tutorial.
  • Pretty simple, easy.
  • I use photoshop 5.5, can be used anywhere I guess.

  1. Get your base. I work in 200x200 but using 100x100 is fine.
  2. Duplicate your base and screen. Duplicate that and then again - however, this depends on how dark your image is.
  3. Go back to your base and duplicate, set that to soft light.
  4. Flatten.
  5. Duplicate base and screen @ 16%, or whatever looks best.
  6. Flatten again, and now go image-adjust-hue/saturation and set saturation to +20. Or, again, whatever works best with your icon. And lighten to about +4, don't go to over the top with the lighten or your icon looks washed out.
  7. Now my icon looks nice and bright but a bit tough and worn so I duplicated the base again and went filter-blur-blur, then just lowered the opacity until I got to about 24%. It hair and background looked good but the face was a little too blurred so I erased it a little and all done!

Everytime I see these kinda tut, u guys always use "duplicate layer" or "duplicate base". How do u do this? Where's the button? coz I always use curves /levels to clear/brighten my icons
