How about some more XF fic recs? These are a few I read last night and just now. I hope the links work. I've had some trouble reported. But, at least if you're interested, you can look them up on Gossamer by author or title. 2:00 AM - OKayVal Baby!fic. But short and cute and MULDER HASN'T FUCKING BAILED. And they have some nice banter. Spoilers for Existence, obv. Just kind of comforting. Sad, alone, single mother Scully upsets me. Amaranthine - Marcia Elena DEPRESSING AS FUCK! Well, no. Depending on your state of mind. Apoca!fic, slash to the maximum (for Mulder and Scully), death death death. Bears a certain resemblance in themes to that awesome Brennan/Scully apocalypse pwnage that inspired ![[info]](http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/community.gif) cross_my_heart. But the last line made me go "Yeah, rec it. We like a bit of angst on occasion." AU after Existence. Exile - Zuffy Fluffy, semi-awesome explanation of Scully post-Existence. Stupid, but fun. And hey look, d(spoiler redacted)!S(spoiler redacted) called Angela! Insomnia - Tasha DSR, sex, S9 seems to be fucked up anyway, does it really matter if we add this in? Some nice nods to MSR and they aren't too bad together. Plus anything called Insomnia seems to grab my attention. Doggett can't sleep. Doggett hearts Scully. Oh hai, Scully? What, depressed rejected needs-to-feel-like-there's-one-person-wh o-isn't-going-to-leave-even-if-you-made-h im sex? Yes! Incidentally, my hate for Kersh JUMPED after Nothing Important Happened Today II. Bastard. A One-Elf Caper - Diana Battis Christmas!fic, post-Mulder running awaaay. Frohike plays Santa, hijinks ensue. Or something. It's kinda cute, I liked it. Some nice moments. Teeny bit sad. But duh, Mulder gone AGAIN, Scully effective single mother. Duh. Not my most interesting but there you are. Window clearing. Guh. Leaving in 8 days. Omg. Fuck. Lizzy asked me if I was excited on the phone... I was like "Uh... I will be. Once I'm less... I HAVE TO GO NAO BAI!" I hope there is some sort of emotional/psychological/any kind of gain from the way I've chosen to do the XF thing. Because I'm having trouble seeing one (apart from the whole XF Pwns Me, I R Fangirl thing) through the incredible emotional washing machine type thing I've got going here. Well that's depressing.Which is sort of hilarious in a dark kind of way - you're making me more depressed when I read about how depression makes you dumb, thereby making me dumber. GOOD TIMES, GOOD TIMES! I did have an X-Filesy dream, ![[info]](http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) trilliane, but no sexy tiems! Suxx0rs. No Mulder or Scully full stop! Was just weird and X-Filesy. And I didn't do the 9 hours sleep thing either because it's very hard to keep sleeping when it gets warm and my bed is about 3 degrees hotter than anywhere else in the house. And that isn't just because of me. Hilarious, me. Now I'm going to attempt to do some window clearing and possibly, possibly clean my room up. But I only have 1.5 hours before I have to shower and go get Lola so maybe not. My room takes longer than that *nods* Much, much longer. |

Who do you people think you are? :D (One tiny point in their favour - they did use that fabulously hot picture of Gillian in the ID. Slightly calmer post but only fucking slightly.
Scully/Reyes was the ONLY thing that distracted me from the idea of self lobotomising with the nearest pencil. Reyes is like... I like her, cos she's kinda whacked out (birds of a feather...) but also awkward and helpful and bad for herself (the smoking kills me, much love). The beautiful line? Um... femslash to the SHIT! I was all "Seriously??" not to mention, like, every single word and action between them. So slashy. Brilliant.
But she IS a bit slow on the uptake. Then again, she hasn't had all these years (HA HA MONTHS NO WONDER I'M SCREWED UP) to learn proper paranoia. I was like "NO! BAD SHERIFF! BAD! RUN AWAY! JESUS, MONICA, WAKE THE FUCK UP! BADDDDDD!!!!!"
Not to mention the ridiculous habit in this show of calling people 'Agent X' in really strained situations. I get that they have to avoid too much anyone-but-Scully-and-Mulder-calling-them-Scully-and-Mulder and I almost got used to it with Doggett but damn woman, when you're giving BIRTH in a GHOST TOWN being chased by INDESTRUCTIBLE BAD GUYS, you don't yell out "AGENT REYES!" You yell out "MONICA!"
Okay, maybe Scully doesn't. But it still makes me want to aspirate on a couch cushion.
I was almost sad for Krycek. But he just proved to be a bastard one too many times for me. I did kind of whimper in sympathy and tell Skinner to hurry up and shoot him in the head, put him out of his misery, but that quickly changed to LET HIM FUCKING SUFFER, ONE ARMED BASTARD!
That whole last sequence... I cannot even. Needs to be wiped from my memory. WHAT THE GODDAMN FUCK SCULLY AND MULDER KISS OVER BABY?!?!?!?!?!?! WHAT THE GODDAMN HELL ASS FUCK?!?!?! WHAT KIND OF ENDING DO YOU CALL THAT?!?! OH YES, WE SLEPT TOGETHER AND HERE'S OUR FIRST KISS... NOW. AFTER OUR CHILD IS BORN. MIRACULOUSLY. IN LIKE, TEN BILLION DIFFERENT WAYS. ACCEPT IT!
I can't even talk more about that last scene, complete bullshit. I taught mum what jumping the shark means today in the car and I was giving examples and I skipped over XF, saying that people just dismiss the last two seasons and I don't think shark jumping really enters into it.
BUT HELL IF THAT LAST SCENE WASN'T THE FINAL TOOTH IN THAT BIG FISHY MOUTH! THE WATER SKIER IS GEARING UP! AND OH OH OH WOOOOOOOOSH WHAT A JUMP! I CAN'T BELIEVE HE LANDED THAT! OH NO, HE DIDN'T. TOOTHY GOT HIM> DAMN.
Fuck me dead.
And I just can't believe... David and Kim Manners pushed Chris Carter into that kiss. I mean, he was planning on them being a big tease for the whole of forever. Which is silly once a show passes 5 seasons, in my opinion. So I fully agree, they needed to get it together but WAKE ME UP I MUST BE DREAMING HOW COULD THEY FUCK THAT UP SO BADLY?!?!?!?!?!!
Oh god. Save me.
To all of you who told me to skip the last two seasons - I concede the point. You were absolutely right. I would never be able to leave episodes unwatched, of course. But I admit, you were all right. Sooooo right.
Two external questions -
1. Are the bloopers for each season in the special features? If so, where? I've been ignoring the SF, by and large, because I'm always too fucked up at the end of a season to do them. But I have heard from many sources that the gag reels kick ass.
If not on DVDs, on YT, amirite?
2. Shelly, did you ever get that IWTB file uploaded? Btw, I forgive CC for the title now. Since I actually get the significance. But anyway, it's cool if it didn't work out (must be fucking huge, I thought you were overestimating your computer a bit :P) but yeah, I need suggestions on the best torrents to download IWTB from. I need awesome foursome quality, I do.
Now, to collapse in a heap and torture myself with Existence thoughts until I eventually fall asleep or try to tough it out for a couple of episodes of S9? Hm. |

Aussie Dollar exchange rate crap
I see that a few folks on my flist have started asking why the Aussie Dollar's value has falled to about 27 Jumbucks = 1 Brass Razoo (actual rate AU$1≅US$0.65≅UK£0.38≅EU€0.48≅CN¥4.47≅JP¥65.8).
Apparently it's the biggest devaluation slide since we floated the Aussie Squid in 1983.
My gut feeling is that it's tied to the Interest Rate Panic by the Reserve Bank on Tuesday, when they slashed 100 base points -- 1% -- off the Rate, taking it down to 6 percent.
That one's the biggest cut since 1992.
Hooray.
So -- currency investors go elsewhere because they can't make as much on our currency as they can elsewhere, thus our currency is no longer in demand, thus the value plummets.
Way to go, Reserve Bank.
