Correctors needed for an official new HeroQuest setting

Date Last Posted: First time post.
Format: A book that will be edited by Moon Design publishing
Game System: HeroQuest/QuestWorlds
Name: ExtReM_37
Contact: myself
Website: http://www.forgesonges.org
Deadline: The text has to be given to Moon Design by mid-July

Specific Requirements:
We're a bunch of persons from the ForgeSonges association and we're working on one of the official settings for the oncoming new version of the HeroQuest system. The problem is we are all French native speakers. So we write it all in English but we'd like to have a few native english-speakers to read through it in order to get something that doesn't sound too "frenchy".

Game Description:
We’re at the far end of the known space... of the actually known space. A few decades from now, The United Worlds Community was ruling over a huge number of planets and colonies. But a harsh conflict with the Great Kenth’uin Empire made it withdrawing from a certain number of their territories. It sealed the destiny of the cast-away mining colony know as ExtReM_37 (Extreme Reaches Mine n°37). It became an independent planet, whose incomes were still brought by the extracted mining material. Located at extreme ranges of the galaxy, caught in between several different territories and civilizations, the planet also became a connecting node, where people from many different places came to discuss in a free and independent environment.
The surface of ExtReM_37 is no suitable for organic life: deadly and poisonous air, very hard winds and permanent storms sweep the landscape. And as it is the inside that always has interested people here, the city was built under the surface, into huge vaults and some now abandoned mining tunnels. It’s the place where anybody can live a life of its own, far from the great societies, freed from previous criminal records or tedious administrations. Here, under the artificial light and into this artificial atmosphere, a city grows and lives.
If you are wealthy enough, you can visit High Vault, where inverted buildings hang from the ceiling of a very large cave over a subterranean lake, in which the reflection of millions of lights creates a new sky. For the more common people with less money, there is Downtown, the first vault built by the inhabitants, a long cylinder plunging down and down into the depth of the planet. The Astroport is one of the most important locations as anybody that arrives in or leaves ExtReM_37 passes here. The Old Mines are abandoned conducts where nothing can be extracted anymore and where the poorest of the locals try to make a living out of despair and of a non-fully-treated air. These are only some of the locations in ExtReM_37. And there’s also this recently discovered place full of mysteries called The Ancient City; as for what the government said about it, there seems to be the evidence of the existence of an ancient civilization having lived here, into this planet. But no one has spoken aloud about it for now. All the caves are linked by a complex system of roads, called Tubes, as they are straight cylinders running into the soil of the planet.
With this game, enter the subterranean city of ExtReM_37, take the role of a local or a newcomer, and discover the different locations and all the factions living here. You can try to stop terrorists and criminals physically enhanced through biological modifications or neuro-science. You can plunge into the diplomatic schemes going on behind the scenes in this place where independence is the most elementary element. You can try to solve the mysteries of the ancients and long-forgotten first inhabitants of the planet. You can use the recently developed semi-IA’s to help you in your day-to-day activities. You can choose darker and less legal ways to earn your living in these often dark alleys.
In this world of technology, nano-things can repair in seconds the skin in which you just shot a bullet. Many cars can drive you safely home without you touching the wheel. Communication is immediate and easy wherever you are. Hear the permanent noise of the air recyclers, see the never-natural light that comes from the ceilings, you are now in ExtReM_37, a doomed place to live where anyone can make his fortune... or find his fate.

Ex2: Soul Collectors

Date Last Posted: First Time Post
Format: OpenRPG
Game System: Exalted 2nd Edition
Name: Soul Collectors
Contact: dark.siren.sally at gmail dot com (I'll give other contact info through email)
Website: http://darksiren.net/wiki/index.php/rp:soulcollectors
Minimum Age Requirement: I'd prefer 20s, since that's around my age group... but in terms of content, 16 is the hard cutoff point.
Deadline: May 14th

Specific Requirements: You need to download and install OpenRPG (I can help you with this). I prefer to exchange emails / IMs with my players to see we have any compatibility issues before playing. Other specifics are found below, or at the Soul Collectors website.

Game Description: The Soul Collectors page has most of what you need to now (minus some details I've neglected to write out fully), but just to summarize: this is a mixed Celestial level Exalted game, i.e., any Exalt type but Dragonblooded. The game is a "what-if" type scenario about 300 years after canon present, in which the Wheel of Souls has been broken generations ago. Therefore Creation, Heaven and the Underworld can and will differ radically in some ways from canon.

Also, Abyssals are pending houserules from me, as I don't own Ex2: Abyssals yet, so I won't be able to accept any Abyssal characters at this time. However, I already have one Abyssal PC, whose player has already expressed interest in enduring the various tweaks I will no doubt make to Ex2 Abyssal rules during play.

Other traits I'm looking for in players:

1) Patience and understanding. I am not a very confident ST; I have run games online for 2+ years, but I tend to be very hard of myself. My lack of confidence can slow down the game at times or make me discouraged about my ST ability. If this speaks "drama queen" or "emo" to you, then just avoid this game (or any of my games). I'm saying this at the risk of my own reputation in order to be honest. I'm not always reliable, but I have also ran many fun and enjoyable sessions over the years.

2) People who like descriptive posts. Though I am running on OpenRPG, I don't run my games like a chatroom. The games I run and play in on OpenRPG have players producing anywhere from oneliners -- if it's mostly dialogue, or a short emote -- to multi-paragraph, forum-RPish stunts/descriptions that can take several minutes to write. I tend towards the wordy side, myself, and would prefer not to have to stifle that. I also enjoy to read well-written descriptions, when people take time to do them, so this is my preferred method of play.

3) People willing to take a chance with my houserules. I'm willing to discuss them, but I'm not very likely to change them -- unless I find, after in-game testing, that they do not work as I expected them to. I'm not really wanting rules arguments, just players willing to play.

I apologize for the long-windedness, I just find that I need to be particular about my player criteria due to my personal faults and playstyle. I would prefer email responses over replies to this post, but I will try to check either.
Bleeding Thru: A World of Darkness RP

Date Last Posted: First time post.
Format: Message Board, Chat
System: New World of Darkness
Name: Bleeding Thru
Contact: PhoeniX at BleedingThru dot us (email), PsiberZombie (AIM), or StaticOnTheBrain at hotmail dot com (MSN)
Website: http://bleedingthru.us/wodforum/index.php
Minimum Age Requirement: 18
Deadline: None

Specific Requirements: Mages, Changelings, Werewolves, Mortals, and Vampires are all available for play. Other templates are possible with Storyteller approval. Having IRC is a bonus, but not required. Original Characters only.
Game Description: The city of New Orleans is notorious for its hidden places. For its forgotten nooks and haunted crannies. There is no other place in the world like it. Not even Katrina could drive away its human population, and this is to say nothing of its supernatural denizens, those shadowy creatures that have made their home along its dark alleys and wetland borders.

This is the story of the supernatural, the bizarre, and the macabre. Of the individual lives forever altered by the extraordinary and preternatural forces that assail us from the shadows. And of those people so devoted to their decadent home that not even the wrath of Nature could drive them out of it. Welcome to New Orleans. Enjoy your stay.

And try not to be eaten.
Whether you prefer to game in realtime chat or on forums, any game that you are a part of will influence the others. When you join our world, you join a community of players. People you may never interact with in-game may hear your name, learn what you've done, or even pick up where you left off.

We aim to have realistic, three dimensional characters that drive the stories. Our world is dynamic, ever changing based on what the players do.

There are always new campaigns being planned and being run. Sometimes, they become entwined with one another, allowing you to take part in someone else’s story and interact with characters you never expected to.

Horselords of the Endless Plains

Date Last Posted: First time posted
Format: Collaborative Book format. See http://lostcoastgaming.com
Genre: Fantasy, World of Menelon
Name: Horselords of the Endless Plains
Contact: songstress (_at_) lostcoastgaming (_dot_) com
Website: http://LostCoastGaming.com
Minimum Age Requirement: 16
Deadline: None but there is already much interest, so don't delay!

Specific Requirements: Membership at http://LostCoastGaming.com (it's FREE)

Game Description: Ongoing fantasy campaign set in the homebrew World of Menelon.

Game Profile: Horselords of the Endless Plains Part 1: The Red Arrow

Game Setting: The World of Menelon

Character Creation: Hero System 5th Ed. plus modification. See also the House Rules in the wiki for further details. I will be choosing 6 to 8 characters to start this campaign.

Adjudicated under: Hero System 5th. Ed. plus modifications. Familiarity with Hero 5 is appreciated but not strictly necessary. Writing ability and the opportunity to post often is much, much more important.

Importance of the PCs: The PCs are the focus of this story. In the beginning their actions affect themselves and their clans. As the story advances, their actions profoundly affect events on a national and international level.

World Description: Mid-level Fantasy, drawing from both gritty and high fantasy genres. See Campaign Wiki for detailed information.

Morality: Players may find themselves challenged by the unusual morality of their characters' backgrounds -- inflexible thinkers will not do well in this campaign.

The campaign takes place in what will soon be a war zone -- and the choices made in wartime are sometimes difficult ones. Good and Evil are not always clearly defined and to some extent the characters will be operating outside the law altogether. Personal honor and clan honor are of heightened significance to the characters and sometimes will be all they have to rely on when it comes time to make decisions.

Realism: Uh, it's a fantasy game -- dragons, elves, dwarves, magic -- so yeah, "realism" isn't a good word to apply. That said -- the "guidelines" of physics work as expected, taking magic into account. Actions have consequences. Character choices determine outcomes. Truth is often stranger than fiction. Void where prohibited by law.

Outlook: Almost totally depends on the players and characters. All I'm doing is providing the setting here -- the rest of it is up to you.

Seriousness: Um, if we can't laugh and have fun with this, what's the point? Sure there are serious things happening in the world around the PCs but I hope to see them meet it with as much humor as they can bring to bear. Sharing laughter in the face of overwhelming odds is a form of bravery I particularly admire.

Continuity: As a GM I provide setting and structure. Events to experience. NPCs to interact with. A goal to achieve. How that happens is completely up to the characters -- as is, in truth, whether they choose to achieve the goal or not. If after completion they choose to go on to the next challenge, then the story continues. If not, then not and it's all good.

My goals as GM are: First, to have fun telling a story together. Second, maybe, if we all like what we've done, to see about publsihing our grand adventure somehow, with the players listed as co-authors and me as Story Director or Chief Grammar Nazi or whatever.

For further details contact songstress (_at_) lostcoastgaming (_dot_) com, or drop by Lost Coast Gaming and do what you need to do to leave a Personal Message on the forum.

Into the Black - an episodic Firefly game - now casting for season two!

Date Last Posted: First time post for this game, I believe
Format: Journal and chat (IRC and/or AIM)
Game System: Serenity RPG
Name: Into the Black
Contact: L ( L@labarc.com / AIM: Lab Arc Designs)
Website: http://www.labarc.com/Black/
Minimum Age Requirement: 18 + preferred, younger possibly if able to play maturely.
Deadline: none

Specific Requirements: None really - we're pretty much willing to work with you.
Game Description:

Four mismatched ships. Three dark secrets. Two great forces. One fleeting dream.

A universe of opportunities.

The long-awaited season two of Into the Black is starting up soon! Into the Black is an episodic Firefly game, with gameplay taking place over Greatest Journal and through chat. We have our own IRC chatrooms set up for the game. Chat is completely optional though, if you're not a chat type person, or scenes can be done over AIM if you prefer that to IRC. Or play via posts only, it's all good. We're flexible. Players will be given the opportunity to make a character sheet using the Serenity RPG system (if you are unfamiliar with the system or just need some help, mod will assist). It is also possible to play the game if you are unfamiliar with the Firefly show / Serenity movie, as we are a primarily AU setting with a focus on original characters and plots in addition to canon favorites.

At this time, the following Serenity crew canon characters are OPEN for applications:

Inara Sera
Shepherd Derrial Book

You may also apply as any other character that has appeared in an episode of Firefly (or in the Serenity movie, within reason) , or with an original character. Original characters are very welcome in this game, as we focus around the activities of four different ships and not just the original cast. The four ships are Serenity , Starflare , Walden , and Jupiter. Each ship has its own specific goals during an episode. At times they work together - at times the ships will be doing different things.

In addition to Inara and Book, there are two more slots for crewmembers/passengers on Serenity. Starflare has room for ten more, and Walden has room for five. The Jupiter is full up.

The game is very plot-driven, and there is a lot of opportunity for character development, interaction, and adventure! This is a fun game - it's not about the sexin', and it's not about the Mary-Sue-Special-Snowflake, so please don't waste our time and yours by applying if you're just looking for cyber for your Sue. We are seeking mature, drama-free players who enjoy gaming and having fun.

Application information is available at the website and OOC community. Don't like applications? Contact Lab Arc Designs over AIM and audition in 'person' with your character concept.

Website: http://www.labarc.com/Black/ / IC community / OOC community

About us: Lab Arc Designs is a gaming group that has been continuously running quality online games since our founding in 1997 . Expect the game to be rated PG-13.
Deadline: I'd like to hear from prospective players by the 27th of July.

Specific Requirements: Game play will likely be every other week on Fridays or Saturdays, though specific times are flexible. Character creation will be done together, so come with ideas (preferably several!).

Game Description: This will be a campaign designed to take players from 1st to 20th level. Adventures will vary from dungeon crawl to urban intrigue. Ptolus is the largest and most detailed city setting ever and I predict that any one playing will have a great time and experience one of those campaigns that you will always remember.

Venice Chronicles

Hey, pimpage for a Online RPG that I act for. It's a really interesting concept (and heck, it has real actors on it)

Online there's an interesting Masquerade that's happening. It's called the 'Venice Chronicles'. It takes place in Venice, in no real time frame. There's an entire lore that surrounds the Venice Chronicles as well, and real actors that help guide the story.

It's a Flash based system, that incorporates a AI called Valentina inside. You can use the site to do regular chat, voice chat, and video chat. If you go into the "VIP clubs" you can have up to 5 people Video Chatting. Also it has an ability to do anonymous text messages, and phone calls through a system called JahJa.

Best way to describe it is a SubCulture - Social Network - RPG - with a romantic twist (Venice without a Romantic Twist wouldn't be Venice).

You start by creating a profile within the Masquerade. You can either choose to be yourself, or a complete alter-ego.

In the masquerade you're represented by an image with a mask. They integrated a system where they take your own photo that you upload, and you choose a mask from the site to place upon your photo.

You can change the scale, rotation, and if the mask should be facing the left, right or center. Basically whatever suits the photo of you best.
If you want to be very incognito, there are even full faced masks that cover your entire identity.

You also choose a family. Each family is represented by a sin (in Venice everything is driven by the "Great Sin" or Fortuna). It's kinda like choosing a race in World of Warcraft. Each family that you can choose is one of the "Ruling Families in Venice".
The Giovanni Family is represented by the sin of Pride.
The Casanova Family is represented by the sin of Lust.
The Medici Family is represented by the sin of Greed.
The Vivaldi Family is represented by the sin of Sloth.
The Cortesi Family is represented by the sin of Gluttony.
The Dalle Rosa Family is represented by the sin Envy.
and The Contasntini Family is represented by the sin of Wrath.

Once inside the Masquerade there is so much to do and see. You can update your profile with more images and videos, talk to the entertainers, add your own bit of Venican Lore in the Library, or join on of the VIP clubs where you can video chat with up to 5 different people. The VIP clubs are called Inferno and Paradiso. Inferno leans towards the more Lusty side of sins, and Pardiso focus' more on Romance and issues of the Heart.

But the easiest way to experience the Venice Chronicles is to check it out yourself. VeniceChronicles.com. Hope to see you guys there!

killing streets

Tokyo is a sprawling metropolis, renowned for its dichotomy. Futuristic skyscrapers coexist alongside ancient Shinto temples, while age-old traditions exist within high-tech gadgetry. Society is ordered; it is kept that way by cultural expectations and attitudes. Beneath the neon lights of Shibuya and paper lanterns of Kanda however… vice and corruption thrives. It feeds off the stress of weary workers and is encouraged by the greed of the wealthy and powerful. Evils are committed by men and transform them into figurative demons...

Sometimes, the evils committed by men transform other men into true demons.

Killing Streets is an urban fantasy roleplaying game set in Tokyo, Japan. The game is played through GJ, AIM and email, with emphasis on character and plot rather than dice and statistics. The game draws source material from the original incarnation of White Wolf's 'World of Darkness' gaming line, and knowledge of this material isn't needed to play the game.

This game is restricted to players who are 18 years old or over, due to the nature of the themes explored in the game.

killingstreets + murder_cafe + killing_sts + shadowbridge
Information Directory | Rules | The Setting | How to Join

Looking For A Place To Game?

When I first started looking into online gaming I had a really hard time finding places that actually had games going on. There were a few places that liked to talk about gaming but I wanted to play.

Shameless plug/

I have a game board called Castle Valiant

I started it after a couple of the game boards I frequented were having trouble staying up and running. All the games were on hold and some of them died off. I also wanted to provide a place to host games so people had other options available to them if they couldn't scare up a face-to-face game in their area or if some other board goes down or gets hacked games could still be played. So, Castle Valiant was created.

It's all about the games. Play by email (PBEM), Play by message board (PBMB). The game pacing is slower than table top but it has the advantage of giving you the time to craft your responses or plots.

AD&D, D&D, D20, Planescape, White Wolf, Star Wars, Birthright or something else are all welcome. I'm a 1st and 2nd edition AD&D fan myself.

Join up and help launch Castle Valiant. Start your games today. Don't be shy, come on in. Joining is free, playing is free, no subscription fees, no charges and no credit checks.
It's a new board and more members will offer more opportunities.
Newbies and old timers are welcome.

/Shameless plug

WoD: Mortals Game - Play by Post on LJ

Players wanted for a "joe-schmoe" campaign.

System: WOD 1.0 - Mortals (Changeling Kinain and Werewolf Kinfolk may be allowed, but that's something to be discussed with any players who propose such a character.) Story will be character-driven.

Medium: Play-by-post (email) via Live Journal.

Setting: A small town in the northeast, the fictional town of Haverton, Mass. The present. Nothing special about, although it's seen better days. There's an all-girls boarding school, an abandoned sanitarium on the outskirts, some old "Indian" caves, a candy store, stories about a haunted lighthouse, two cops, one stop-light, several tourist trap shops, many summer-rental homes and bed-and-breakfast places, miles of rocky-coast line on one side and thick forests on the other... and, of course, a statue of some guy knick-named "Fred" in the center of town.

Style: Dependant on the players and types of characters proposed. Mix of Bureau 13, Call of Cthulu, Deliria, Hunters Hunted, Magical Girl, etc... Focus will be on social interaction and skills, with some possible combat. Character devoted soley to combat (as thegamemistress might say) "will be at a severe disadvantage," and are therefore greatly discouraged. Mature content, some angst, so mature players over 18 only.

Contact: chamberdeacon at gmail or visit chamber_deacon

**note: if you find yourself crunching numbers to make your character as powerful as possible, this probably isn't the game for you. **

Looking for a few good Garou in Buffalo, NY

I am looking for players for a tabletop Werewolf: The Apocalypse game to be played during the afternoon session of UB SaRPA's Open Gaming (from approximately 1:30 to 5:30 PM) on SUNY Buffalo's Amherst Campus on alternate Saturdays beginning on January 20, 2007. The game will use the Revised rules. No prior experience with the game system is necessary; the rules will be taught. Beginners are welcome!

The first session of the game will be devoted to character creation; the first IC adventure will be a Rite of Passage.

Characters should be starting level Garou characters created specifically for this game; they may be homid or metis. As lupus Garou are rare, the GM's permission is required to play one. Any of the twelve tribes (save Red Talons) from the Werewolf: The Apocalypse Revised rules are acceptable. For those who have played earlier editions of Werewolf, the Stargazers are no longer part of the Garou Concordiat in the Revised rules; therefore, no Stargazer characters will be accepted (nor will characters from the other races of Fera).

The characters will be operating out of the Sept of the Three Old Oaks in the "Endless Mountains" region of northeastern Pennsylvania; more information about the Sept can be found at http://community.livejournal.com/3_old_oaks/664.html.

Please note that I would like this game to include character interaction as well as combat - characters created *solely* for one or the other may be at a disadvantage.

Interested? E-mail thegamemistress AT gmail DOT com for more information.

Yet it is a city of contrast, with elements of old and new found side by side, and order and chaos divided by sunrise and sunset…
Criminals, sometimes controlled by supernatural creatures, market their wares to the stressed yet wealthy workers. Relaxation comes in the form of illicit drugs, sex with enslaved foreign women, underground boxing rings, street racing and more. Those who don't have the wealth make deals with organisations such as the Yakuza, who offer something the corrupt government doesn't – financial aid and work. At the same time, there are those who try to fight the corruption in the world step by step, through offering either aid, or fighting evils…
Killing Streets is a World of Darkness-based game, which is played through GJ, Instant Messenger and email. The game focuses on creative writing instead of statistics and dice, and is open to players over the age of 16 years.
