Hey, fellas! I'm Anne! Remember me? I'm the pull-you to Tyler's push-me. It's been a while---a shade over a year---but I've got a little something for you dudes.

My big brother Bill does this comic called Minus World, but he's been too swamped by projects to work on it for the last month. I offered to step in and do a strip for him. I wound up spending my entire weekend doing it, and now I shall never draw again. Anyway, here it is.

The above was my first, rough pass at Luke, Derek (with his Mike Russell legs), and Kat. I'm sad that I never managed to draw Luke in the strip as awesomely as it came out here. So it goes.

Marvel at how my cartooning skills basically have not changed since the last guest strip I did.

During the past week or so I suddenly, violently and inexplicably became obsessed with extinct, prehistoric mammals. I've learned a lot! For example: Science says that about 14 million years ago in Asia, there lived a species of 1,100lbs pig named Kubanochoerus gigas. Its most notable feature was the single bony horn that grew from the middle of its forehead.

What Science won't tell you is that it also had MAGICAL FLYING FAIRY WINGS OF MAGIC.

However, Science will go on to say how in South America about eight million years ago, there lived a species of rodent that resembled a buffalo-sized guinea pig! Apparently, they were too hilarious to live, and therefore went extinct. Haha! Nice one Nature! Better luck next time!

On a whim, I recently revisited a some stuff I had done in way back when I was in eighth grade. Some of it is pretty hilarious*. I had a fondness for things with large teeth and lots of shouting. No, really!

Anyway, some of it I thought was kind of neat, so lately I've been trying to rebuild some characters and stories from back then. World-building is fun. This is just a pencil sketch with some digital color slapped in.

It's a guy from a fantasy story I want to develop some more. I confess, his look was partly inspired by Anne's fevered and passionate postings. I won't pretend otherwise, neither should you. It was also partly inspired from looking at photos of various Ren Faires. I'm a sad little man.

His mum made him that scarf. He loves his mum.

*And by "hilarious", we of course mean "too embarrassing to be shown in public."

Through a Special Random Lottery* I went through the listed "interests" of 12 Live Journal friends, picked two disparate interests and then tried to find a way to combine them. Mostly it was to force me to draw a lot of pictures as fast as I can without being too sloppy and then post them up regardless if I like them or not. Always a challenge with me. HoHa.

My pal Hilary was all, "Hey! A free, online zombie game! Let's play it!" And I was all like, "Okay!" Turns out Urbandead.com is frustrating, horrible, unrewarding and we can't stop playing it.

Here's a doodle of my character, Brian McBrainfood, that I drew in the corner of a work report and colored in photoshop using my new laptop. Yay.

Currently, in game, Brian is lying face down in a pool of his own putrid fluids in an empty lot.

When my co-worker isn't completely happy about an ad or logo she's designed, she'll show it to me and say, "I'm not feeling it. I'm just not feeling it." And then she'll purse her lips together, knit her brow and glare at it.

Well, I'm not feeling these. But I'll post 'em anyway just to have something to post.

I guess as a follow-up to the "Batgirl" meme that made the rounds, someone got a "Superboy meme" going too. A friend showed it to me and told me to do it, while another friend admitted fears that I would just do something involving "Superballs." I was going to do a mini-comic, where Superboy got punched by a giant robot... but then got lazy, bored and changed my mind. Here's the concept doodles I did though.

And here is... some other stuff. Don't know what else to say so I'll shut up now!

I have the flu. Earlier I tried to pretend it was the avian flu? But it turns out one of the main symptoms is not, in fact, clucking. Reminds me of the time I tried to pretend I had ebola. I couldn't get my nipples to bleed on cue so that failed as well. I fail as a hypochondriac. I just... I just fail.

Speaking of nipples, why didn't that horrible Schumacher guy put them on Batgirl's suit? He put nipples on Batman and Robin's suits, but not Batgirls. That's sexism, yo.

Speaking of Batgirl, there have been no less than four mentions of this drawing-type meme on my friends list. Sometimes it is fun to give in to herd mentality.

Well, it's now two and a half hours into a new year for me. Will this new year hold promise? Hahahaha! Seriously now, let's not kid ourselves. More importantly, look at what I've been futzing with after midnight! The first [hastly done] sketch of 2006! AWESOME! NOW SOMEONE TUCK ME INTO BED. My body is rebelling, it rebels.

It wasn't until tonight I realized the joke about how it says "Pull to Open" but actually pushes. Oh-ho-ho, those Time Lords.

Today I posted this image in my journal? And I am filled with the sneaking suspicion that those who commented to the entry did not recognize where it was from. This saddens me greatly. Last week I got the box set with that movie plus Son of Kong and the original Mighty Joe Young. I want to go back in time to visit my 7-year-old self and tease him about how long he has to wait until he too can own this box set.

A recent Newsweek said that Peter Jackson's version will be three hours long. HOLY CRAP YOU GUYS. Normal people are probably disturbed by this, but I am giggling. The video game is pretty rad too. Body slamming dinosaurs is pure entertainment.

A final observation, regarding myself and drawing... We were always taught that we should shade using even strokes flowing all in the same direction. I greatly admire anyone who can do this and wish I could myself. It was always an issue in my drawing classes, my instructor was always beating me over the head with the class skeleton model. But alas, try as I might, while I am concentrating on "even strokes in the same direction", a tiny circuit breaker gets tripped and I end up going "akllpzzillflikkpx!!!" and slash at the page in a half-crazed frenzy. I also eat fish the same way. I bet there are many tiny, cartilaginous bones wedged in my esophagus.

grimbles and I, despite being arch-nemeses, momentarily combined our powers of jerkitude and created a short and ill-tempered comic strip for your displeasure. She came up with the original idea and drew the hilarious little drawings (I love the body language) and I wrote the story and did the photochopping. Read it or don't read it, doesn't matter to us. We just hope it gives you stomach cramps.

It's not friendly to dial-up users. It actually might not be friendly to anyone.

Was doing some drawings earlier and started with some "warm-up" sketches to loosen up. Did so by doodling the head studies of some characters that "belong" to some friends. They know who they are. (Mwaha.)

Here is part of the design for my chum Chewbob's swim team shirts. Their mascot is a lemur. I've done three other designs for them in the last three years. They are not improving at the rate that I'd like. OH WELL.

I know his tail should be curved with the arc of his dive but SCREW YOU.

I thought I would do something more exciting than just ink in my normal, flat-'n'-blocky way, and so I did. But I still like flat-'n'-blocky most. This is TWOPENNY JACK, a very successful junker who got cursed by a gypsy after selling her a shoddy armoire. Everyone (incorrectly) presumes his intense hairiness is part of the curse, which upsets him greatly.

I had taken a break to let Drew fly solo in Lego Star Wars, and was doodling this to pass der time.

"Wocha drawing?" he asked.

"Jander and Gerry," I says, "discussing."

"What's that?" He turned on me, voice chock full of wonder. "Jango and Gerry?"

Oh, also, here is a horrible thing I drew for shamzmam's birthday. It is an illustration from his epic, heartbreaking fanfic, "Batman Turns Into A Horse And Has Sex With Robin."

It took me a long time, until just several years ago actually, before I realized that not everyone will tolerate my interests and be willing to humor me when I got frothed at the mouth excitedly raving about say, creative taxidermy.

I have been doing a lot of doodles lately, but have not posted anything since I wasn't sure if anyone who watches this community would be able to humor my insipid geekiness. Then this morning I suddenly went, "Who are they? Hell, I'm posting."
