A proto-checklist
Things that need to be done to make the Plunkett a reality (in no particular order):

1) Develop a board; I am not going to do this by myself.
2) Formalize the description of the award; I am 90% happy with the way I've described it so far, but want to make sure of that last 10%, with the help of people in #1. ;)
3) Get out press releases to appropriate organizations
4) Look for a web domain
5) work on fundraising notions
6) decide what *beyond* an award we're actually doing -- short lists, bibliographies, informational clearinghouses, etc.

This is partially just a post to keep me focused, but people can please feel free to chime in on ideas...

The prize should be a mallet and a monocle.

I suspect a progressive union or two might kick in money.

I've forgotten which local it was of the SEIU that has a "bread and roses" fund, to which I intend to apply.

As for the prize, I'd been suggesting that, since I wasn't prepared to propose an award I wouldn't fund out of pocket, that it would be dinner at the restaurant of one's choice in Madison during WisCon. ;)

Oh, and since the Tiptree tiara stays with the award, we would have a nicely-designed Plunkett baseball cap the winners could take away with them.

Needless to say, these are semi-frivolous suggestions.

I can advise on #1 and the other issues involved in non-profit management. I know you have similar resources through mutual friends, so....call me. :)

#4 - If you're looking for a host, I can recommend bluehost.com. I use them for my sites and recommend them to everyone.

You might want to email the current Lord Dunsany. There's a family website. I'm not sure of the legalities, but it seems courteous.
