If your muse had a soundtrack, what would it be like? What would be on it, and why?

Playlist Prompts is a community where muse writers use music as inspiration for their writing. There is no application process: just read the rules, join up, and begin!

WHAT’S THIS FOR?

Just for fun, really! I personally found myself particularly inspired by music for all of my muse writing, but it was hard for me to find things to write about. The idea came to me to basically give a way for writers to inspire themselves, by giving a structured way to take things they enjoy and funnel them into something creative.

HOW DO I START?

First, create a playlist that will serve as a “soundtrack” for your muse. This can be as short or long as you like. Give a brief description of each song, and why it relates to your muse. For an example of format, a sample playlist can be viewed here.

Please place most of your playlist under a cut, if it’s going to be long enough to warrant it. If you’d prefer to post your playlist only in your muse journal, then please post a “fakecut” or link to the community. If you’d like to upload songs to SendSpace or another hosting service to include with your playlist, please do so! Make sure to identify your muse’s name and what fandom they are from, if any.

THEN WHAT?

Write a brief narrative, drabble, or other piece of writing based on each song in your muse’s playlist. Pieces of writing do not need to contain lyrics from the song in question, they need only be inspired by the song in question. Title your piece “Track X” in the subject line, where X is the number of the song in its order on your playlist, and note the song and artist somewhere in your post.

Writing posts can be done in muse journals only, but “fakecuts” or links must be posted to the community. Remember to identify your muse’s name and what fandom they are from on each post!

THE RULES

Be on your best behavior towards other writers. Please feel free to give feedback to other writers in the community, be constructive or by all means complimentary, but if there are reports of anyone being rude or trolling, a moderator will step in. If you see something you don’t like, just ignore it.
