AboutHello everyone! I created this community specifically for people who like to take and/or look at pictures of My Little Ponies. I'm a member of various pony forums and a photo community on LJ, but I found that the photo community wasn't interested enough in ponies to care about my pictures, and the pony communities weren't all that interested in seeing my individual ponies. So, basically, this is a place to show off pics of your herd! Funny pics, artsy pics, "check out the pony I just got" pics, whatever. And if you're into making icons, that's great too! I'm a bit of an icon fiend myself, and enjoy seeing the different pony icons people can come up with. It should be noted that because of the specific purpose of this community, any brag posts should be accompanied by a picture. Sales posts will also no longer be permitted. This ain't the classifieds, and there are tons of places where you can post about the new pony you got on ebay or wherever, but people join this community to see pictures. ;)
I'm sure at least some of you are wondering where I came up with the name "Plastic Heroin." Well, many pony collectors refer to ponies as some kind of drug... buying a new pony is getting a "pony fix." When a friend of mine asked me to write a haiku about myself, I came up with this:
pony obsession
a rainbow of small horses
plastic heroin
I just liked how that sounded, so I gave this community that name. I hope you all like it as well. ^_^
There aren't that many rules (yet) but there are a few:
1. Pictures larger than 500x500 must go behind a cut. Not just to keep the layout looking nice, but for those poor dial-up folks too.
2. In general, if you have more than one picture, they should go behind a cut (but you can leave one out as a preview). If you've only got 2, and they're fairly small, you don't have to cut those (but you're always welcome to). Just use your best judgement and try to keep the overall appearance of the community nice and organized. ^_^
3. PG-13 and under, please. I don't expect there's a lot of raciness when it comes to pony photography, but if you're making icons, try to avoid swear words or sexually explicit references.
4. PLEASE be supportive of fellow community members and comment whenever possible. I think we all know that it's a little bit depressing when you get all excited about something and make a post, and then no one says anything. So don't assume that just because you don't have much to say, that your comment isn't welcome. Even a short "That's cool!" can brighten someone's day. ^__^
Above all, HAVE FUN! The more fun you have taking pictures, the more fun we'll have looking at them. There is no set guidelines for the kinds of pictures to take. Poses, picfics, and general wackiness are all welcome!
