| Opening Soon! |
[13 Apr 2009|03:54pm] |
Ok, I realize that this site has been neglected for almost 2 years. Due to personal as well as professional conflicts, I had to put the site on the wayside.
Well, I am ready to resurrect Planet Dave! I hope to have the redesign done this week, and need your help.
Submit to me your favorite pics of Dave - remember to credit those pics that aren't yours! I always credit anything submitted to me for viewing.
let's get the show on the road - tell your friends, post on your pages and blogs etc. Why not even Twitter about it?!?!

i spoke with dave yesterday. first time since senior year in high school. it's pretty surreal knowing a guy you went to school, played baseball, lived 2 blocks away from, created havoc, etc. with is a rock star. anyway, he's coming to town (st. paul) in may and i only recently found out about it...
even though it's been about 12 years, our conversation felt like it picked up where we left it. dave is really cool and it's great that the fame and fortune hasn't gotten to his head. i know many of you are admirers from afar, but dave is a really down-to-earth guy. having said that, i was kinda nervous calling him. we talked about the good ol' days "when we were young." needless to say, can't wait to see him and the band perform.

An interview with Dave from the Pella Chronicle 7/28/2006:
Keuning's career continues to soar
By Kathy Bell 07/28/2006
"The process of writing music is a painful one," he said. "As a band, everyone has their own vision of a song and what it will sound like in the end. We will never get all four members to be completely happy with the finished product."
Although he's pleased with the total efforts of their second album, Keuning feels the group has left off some very good songs which he said will probably turn up on the Internet.
"I'm proud of our second album and I'm anxious to hear what people think about it," Keuning said. "I think we will have several hits songs off of it and our first single is already out. It's called, "When You Were Young." The U. S. doesn't sell singles anymore but you can probably get a copy of the single on Amazon.com/U.K." Keuning feels "The Killers" have accomplished a lot since the debut of their first album, "Hot Fuss" which produced hits songs like "Mr. Brightside."
"I feel pretty good about where I'm at right now. You never feel 100 percent stable in this business. You can't predict public reaction to music trends and with the different personalities of our band members, things can change in a hurry. I just hope people still like us ten years from now," he commented. Articles in top magazines from the music industry have compared "The Killers" newest album to that of the legendary Bruce Springstein's American sound which is dissimilar to the British sounding influence of "Hot Fuss."
"We've definitely changed some and broadened our sound but I think we've still kept some of the same influences from the first album," Keuning said.
"The Killers" have performed on numerous television talk shows such as, "David Letterman," and "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" as well as having had multiple appearances on rock and pop music's very own, MTV. They have also performed before sold out crowds across the U. S. and abroad. Yet, Keuning says the most memorable highlight of his career was performing at the invitation only, Live 8 concert last year, appearing with legendary performers from around the world. "Hot Fuss" went triple platinum for "The Killers" in America. They sold more than five million copies, worldwide.
"I remember worrying about whether or not the album would go gold. It's a good feeling knowing people like your music enough that you go triple platinum but you don't really stop to celebrate. The reality hits you, gradually. Then, one day you think, wow, we've really accomplished something," he explained. Keuning paid $40 for his first guitar which he bought from fellow Pella High student, Curtis Goodyk. He said he took the guitar home and began learning songs. After graduating from high school, he moved to Las Vegas where he put a free ad in a paper looking to start or join a band. The lead singer and co-founder of "The Killers" Brandon Flowers called Keuning, they got together and the rest, six years later is now history.
Other members of "The Killers" include, Mark Stoermer, bass and Ronnie Vannucci, drums. "Hot Fuss" still ranks in the top 40 in the U. K. and the first release from their new album, "When You Were Young" can be heard on the radio on the East and West Coast at this time.
"Life is busy," Keuning said. "It will get a lot busier in September when we start to promote the new album. We'll be going to Mexico soon to shoot the new video for "When You Were Young." With everything going on in my life, it's nice to get away for a few days and come home to see my parents and family here in Pella."
Thanks to stace over at TKC for posting this article.

OK yeah. It took me like 20 minutes to figure out how to do this becuase I haven't used Livejournal for two years and I've never joined a community. Anyway, I'm Andrea, and Dave is a sexy sexy man. I live at Crashing Tide. And I made this.

And it took me 30+ hours in Paint Shop Pro with almost 300 layers.
And if you take it I will kill you and then you will not be able to enjoy the Hair that is Dave so please don't take it. Or I'll kill you. Yeah.

As most of you know, The Killers were up for 2 awards at the Grammy Awards last night. Sadly, they did not win in their categories, however, I am so proud of them for being nominated 2 years in a row. That in itself is a great accomplishment, and their time is coming ;)
stace and foldsbaldwin from over at TKN found a couple of pics from a Grammy after party (and seems only pics of Dave are surfacing at this time). The guys are a bit incognito at the moment while they prepare to record their 2nd album soon, but I wanted to share a couple of the newest pics:

I hadn't realized it had been before the holiday's that I was able to post anything. *sigh* Well, as things are dying down for me, I feel a bit more relaxed and have a bit more freetime - I think for real this time, hahahahahaha.
The Killers Network is currently down, it seems the host is having a few problems. We should be back up as soon as possible, and apologize for the down time!
And a new pic from Las Vegas' CES performance:

So, I don't think I've posted here yet! Anyway, I'm Lori haha. On TKN I'm x call it fate. *shakes hands with everyone*.
Okay, so now that that's done...I found this article a few days ago and love it SO much. I've never heard Dave and Mark be so outgoing. It's the most hilarious interview EVER. It's long, but totally worth it. I will be quoting it for the rest of my life. (By the way, I already posted this on TKN, just figured LJ people might be interested too :)).
