Project: Traveling Sketchbook

The concept is very simple--I have a 4" x 6" hardbound sketchbook and a Friends List full of artistically inclined people.  Why not get everyone's artistic autograph?

There are a few establishing guidelines:

1) Every participant will fill only one page of the book per round.  You may write a little something on the back of your page, though.  In fact, I encourage it.

2) The sketchbook shall stay in each participant's hands no more than 10 days.  That should give ample time for you to complete your page and ship the book to the next participant.  It's a small book so shipping shouldn't break the bank.

Note: For anyone outside the U.S. who wishes to participate, hopefully the shipping won't be too much for you to pass the book along.  Let me know please?

U.S. residents: If the next person on the list is in a foreign country and you feel uncomfortable dealing with Air Mail and Customs, just send the book back to me and I'll take care of it.  We've shipped out of the country plenty of times.

3) Any and all mediums are welcome.  For example: If you do watercolor work, paint something on your page!  If you're more skilled in sewing, try a fabric collage!

EDIT FOR 3 1/2) A good point has been brought to my attention--For this round, nothing NC-17.  I don't want anyone getting in trouble for passing smut to minors and if your parents check your mail (and I know that some do), I don't want them to come down on you for...ahem....questionable content.  We'll have a Smut round later.  This is the Getting To Know You round.  :D

4) HAVE FUN.  That's the purpose of this project!

Once the book has made its rounds and is back in my hands, I'll make scans of each page and post them for all to see.  (If you want to scan pages while it's in transit, please feel free!)

*If this idea gets enough responses, I may start a separate comm for it, just to keep everything straight.*

Willing participants, please respond to this post with your name, address and email and any additional info you think we might need.  All comments are screened, so no worries.  Once we've established who is game for this project, I'll make a master list of addresses and send it to everyone involved.  I'm leaving this post public in case anyone on my Flist has friends they'd like to take part in this project.  :D

Sign-ups begin this very moment and end midnight Sunday, August 24th.

Writer's Block: Six-Word Story

Hemingway was once challenged to write a story in only six words. His response? “For sale: baby shoes, never worn.” He is believed to have called it his greatest literary work ever. Can you write a story in six words?

All my friends are my world.

Today I said "Good bye" silently.

I am selling my knitting needles.

Out of service, personal. Message Understood.

This day, we say good bye.

If you could be God for a day, what three things would be at the top of your to-do list?

First, I'd rid the world of AIDS, Cancer of any way shape or form, overpopulation, and willfully ignorant people.

Next, I'd smite every single person who treats others with disrespect. I'd make 'em ugly and mute.

Finally, I'd turn everyone into transformers. How fucking cool would that be?
