About:

The purpose of this community is to share fanart in progress with fellow artists, mainly to receive constructive criticism and pointers, but also for anything related to this, for example sharing tutorials, image sources, starting round robins, etc.

This community was created for Pirates of the Caribbean fanart, however anything Age of Sail is welcome. (If you are working on the occasional other picture, posting it for criticism is fine, but the greater part of your posts has to be related to Age of Sail. (e.g. Pirates of the Caribbean, Horatio Hornblower, Master & Commander)

Please note that by 'fanart', for the purpose of this community, we refer to drawings, (digital and traditional) paintings, photomanipulations and similar techniques. This is NOT a community to share wallpapers, icons, banners, etc, unless they contain artwork of the fashion mentioned above. Sometimes, the border may be fuzzy, but if you used a still from the movie and altered it only with pre-generated special effect brushes and filters, this community is not the place to post it.

Sexual content and slash are more than welcome, however please make sure to post all pictures behind a lj-cut, and include a rating, especially when your picture has to be considered not-worksafe.

Membership: The point of this community is to show work to a fairly small group of 'experts', not to give interested people a preview of our work. Note that by 'experts' we do not mean a super-high level of proficiency, but rather a dedication to your work and willingness to improve; and yes, a minimum of quality. (this means no stick-figures, you don't have to deliver Picassos) Please understand that therefore, membership is limited to the discretion of the maintainers. However, if you create fanart in this area, your membership request will almost certainly be granted. If you are interested in joining, please request membership (works like joining a 'normal' community), and leave a comment in this post with a link where we may look at your artwork.
