I'm full of ridiculous references today. This week's PinkCast comes to you under the influence of me listening to a lot of mixed music lately. Enjoy three musical comparisons - Ayumi Hamasaki's Are You Wake Up?, Melon Kinenbi's Saa! Koibito ni Narou, and Buono!'s Cafe Buono! are compared back-to-back with some old classics I had lying around and found to be pretty good matches.
It's all in the ear. I may be crazy. But I sure do hear it!
Let me know what you think. Enjoy!!

One comparison I didn't include is Ayumi's kiss o' kill to my favorite REM song, Leave.

Second off, thank you for the shout-out. :)
Last and most important, very good comparisons with the songs. The title of the Ayumi song reminds me of Prince, and I originally thought you were going to go in that direction, but I was pleasantly surprised. And the Paul Simon song... OMG, I haven't heard that song in eons. I wish I still had the home recorded videotape of Simon And Garfunkel's Concert In Central Park special - they did that song twice, and both versions kick ass on the studio version, but the second version, done as an encore, is smokin' hot. Stupidly, Warner Bros. didn't put the second version on the CD reissue and it isn't on the original album.
I listened to this while I was setting up the store. Quite inspirational and I was starting to think of a couple of other comparisons.
Good catch on the jacket quote! The Lust for Life comparison is undeniable, I think. I didn't think of it tho when I heard it before, the drums reminded me of Benny Goodman-type big band stuff. The guitar is pretty close tho. A lot of people have done that, but it seems like a nod. But not a ripoff, Tsunku is obvious with the influences but never really ripoffs stuff totally.
Nice job. You're a natural on the mic, I can barely do it at all.
