| About: | Welcome to the Piano Pedagogy community! Pedagogy means "the art or profession of teaching" (source: The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition Copyright © 2000 by Houghton Mifflin Company.). This is a community for piano teachers, or those who are interested in teaching piano. It is a place to learn about the art and profession of teaching piano, to share tips and stories, and to ask questions about teaching, materials, methods, fees, etc.
There is are two rules in this community. The first is NO SPAMMING YOURSELF. This means, you may not use this community to advertise your services. We are all piano teachers here, we are not looking FOR piano teachers. However, if you know of a teaching opportunity that you would like to offer to the general public, you may post it here. Likewise, if you are personally looking for a piano teacher, you may ask here.

A little bit about myself: I am in grad school for piano performance, and am currently enrolled in an advanced piano pedagogy course. Although I have only been teaching a year, I've had a lot of support and inspiration. I have been blessed with wonderful piano teachers, an excellent pedagogy teacher, and I also come from a family of musicians and teachers. My mom has been teaching 40+ students since I was a child, so I have "observed" countless lessons and heard much that she has to say on the subject. I currently have 8 students, and I am a travelling teacher. |
