If you would like to give a presentation, please submit an abstract to our Director of Presentations, Dolemite.

Nashville 2600 holds their monthly meeting this Friday (and every 1st Fri of the month).

Place: J&J Market, 1912 Broadway, Nashville, TN 37172
Time: 6:00 pm (usually runs 1-2 hours)

We will be discussing PhreakNIC and socializing, and we usually go out for a group dinner afterwards.

If anyone wants to go to Notacon, let me know at dementia@phreaknic.info. I am bringing together a ragtag, fugitive fleet, on a lonely quest, for a shining convention in Cleveland, OH. Or something like that. There is ride and room sharing happening so come if you have to do it on the cheap or not.

PhreakNIC X art contest rules are now up on the home page of http://www.phreaknic.info - deadline TBA, but probably around May 1. Check the site for updates!

Ok, phreaknicians, I could use a hand with the flyer text. It's a bit old, and it's time to get some new catchy text on there.

Remember, we want to encourage people to come to the con, of all walks of techdom, not scare the hell out of them. We are branching out from just hacking into tech culture, so our audience is broader than just hax0rs.

The format I'd like is:

Catchy short intro paragraph
What the con is and what it includes
Description of past PN's
Events that take place at PN
Ending paragraph with "where to get more info"

Come one, come all to this year's exposition of all things technical, scientific, sci-fi-riffic, and well, geeky!

PhreakNIC was started nine years ago as a hacker convention, but has since expanded to include other areas of interest to the technically-minded individual, including science-fiction, fantasy, anime and gaming.

There will be plenty of partying and socializing from the rooftop patio overlooking the downtown Nashville skyline. There will be technology and science fiction-related panels and presentations during the day on Friday and Saturday, organized tournaments of games all weekend long and our annual costume party on Saturday night. Nashville Linux User's Group (NLUG) will have a room full of computer geeks ready to answer your questions about Linux and even help you install it on your own system.

Some of the events this year include:

· Gaming tournaments (BYOB - Bring Your Own Box), as well as a Paranoia XP LARP and other console/card/board gaming
· Cultural speaking tracks (sci-fi/fantasy, etc.)
· Technology speaking tracks (including some hands-on workshops)
· The return of our infamous "Drunken DDR Tournament"
