35mm Ilford HP5 shot in a 5x4.

The first test shot was this, which i shot a number of months ago. Now, i'm attempting to develop it into something more than a gimmick, by making the strips of 35mm part of the photo themselves, rather than something that is merely like an overlay on top of a regular image. The hope is to get the subjects interacting with the sprocket holes, and by using them as seperators for elements within the image, as in this one. I desperately want to use colour and play with the differences of mood that can be done with colour, but 5" strips of 35mm are too short to be processed. The guy who does them here (Michael at Photo) says a 10" will be enough for him, so i need to use a 10x8 camera, but alas, i can only use the uni's in the studio. So soon, i will be going in and trying that.
For the time being, i'm stuck with altering the mood via lighting, such as here. This was lit using a home made set up of table lights and various items to control the light. Tom, on the left, was lit and i used a darkslide to cover up half the lens, then the lighting set up was changed to a more low key style and the darkslide changed to the other side, then alfie was photographed.
