Yay I voted for both the ifrst and second place winners. I see my tastes were shared by many others.

Congratulations to everyone who won though, each picture really does capture the challenge.

Oh and I can't help but see that [info]easytiger is on a roll. Good for her, she's great!

I thought you weren't allowed to use Photoshop on this community, because that second picture has quite obviously been fiddled with.

nope my cousin has taken many like it, its not a hard shot, i mean its not easy but you have to know how to do it. if you have a good camera a tripod it's not too bright out and set a very slow shutter speed, the water movement makes it look cloudy everything else is still. its a very common photo technique actually and i have seen many that look just as fake. the faker it looks the better a job they did in my opinion it creates something that basically doesn't look real but it's completely caught by the camera and not manipulated. i love pics like that.

i have no doubt she did nothing with it in photoshop for 2 reasons, anyone in this community could get a shot like that if they tried hard enough 2. she's been here long enough to know she would bother wasting time photoshopping smoething she could do with a camera.

here is one my cousin did he's a professional photographer used a film camera and doesn't mess w/ his stuff in photoshop you can't get your photo published if you manipulate it before passing it on to the publisher, you can find a ton of pics online like this all using the same technique. try it sometime you might be surprised.

You can quite easily get that effect by traditional methods.

It's probably just a long exposure -- see challenge #124 in April 2005.

hehe - 'fraid not :)
It's an exposure of flowing water for 30 seconds - try it yourself sometime, you'll get the same effect :)

Pretty standard long exposure technique. All that's needed is a small aperture, slow film (or a sensor that goes to ISO 100 or lower) or some Neutral Density filters.

Well done to the winners, well deserved. I voted for number 2, cos I love those kind of shots. And I'm very chuffed with the votes I got, thats the best score I've had on a challenge :)
