There's a black-and-white dip-and-dunk at my work. There was kind of a mutiny recently and one by one, we all decided to quit. I decided to take one last photobooth picture before I left but it was stuck inside the machine. To get it out, I had to take another photobooth picture to push it out of the slot, thus I have two photobooth strips from my last day.

This past weekend was the 2009 International Photobooth Convention in Chicago. I bussed it out from Minneapolis and had a marvelous time! Check out photobooth.net/convention for more info on the event.

Photobooth.net would like to announce the 2009 International Photobooth Convention, which will take place in Chicago on April 3 and 4, 2009.

The convention serves as a gathering place for photobooth artists, enthusiasts, and the merely curious alike. Two vintage black and white photobooths as well as a newer digital booth will be on hand for the duration of the event.

For what's it's worth, we're using the word "convention" in a bit of a tongue-in-cheek way. The International Photobooth Convention will be more grassroots than business suits. Along with a gallery show of art created in and inspired by the photobooth, the convention will feature workshops, lectures, and other events, as well as collaborative photobooth art projects which we encourage visitors to participate in.

We've put out a Call for Entries for the gallery show, and would love to have contributions from people working on art created in and inspired by the photobooth, as well as collections of vernacular or found photobooth photos. The show is open for entry to all artists working in any media, so long as they utilize or reference the photobooth. All entries will be included in an accompanying digital gallery on Photobooth.net, while selected artists will be asked to show their work at gallery or the duration of the Convention.  The submission deadline is March 15th, 2009.
