Again, sorry that we have taken so long to get this project together. We have a nice lineup of 8 written works with 2 lovely art pieces and are very excited to put it together. Because it has been a while, I'm going to clean house with some information

Question: What took so long?!
Answer: A lot of things. We had very sparse submissions this round and hope that because of the timing we will be able to drill up more. We also lost a staff member, due to the fact that she has a life.

Question: When will issues come out?
Answer: As often as possible. We are going to shoot for the next issue to come out in September, but will extend it to December if we do not have enough work to make a full issue. Issue 3 will be out July 30th.

Question: Did the submission guidelines change?
Answer: Nope! You can still find them here.

Question: Is the format the same?
Answer: For right now, yes. You can find the format information here. The change that we are probably going to move to is a "split issue" Front cover will be regular PDM, and back cover will be AD. But we are working on it.

If you have questions on anything else, please see our FAQ if there is anything not covered there, don't hesitate to email one of the moderators or leave a comment here and one of us will respond directly.

Current Mood: accomplished

Ohayocon has come and gone, and the PDM editors are settling back into their post-convention lives (ha). What does this mean for you, our dear and wonderful readership?

SUBMISSIONS ARE STILL OPEN. You should send us your fic! We want it, and we need it. We're still open for the MARCH issue of both Phoenix Down Monthly and PDM: Afterdark, so get crackin', follow the Submission Guidelines, see the Issue Structure if you've got questions, and if those don't answer your questions, ask the FAQ!

We don't want this project to die, but we need your help to keep it going!

And it hasn't been for a while. We as a staff have had Employment changes, graduations, class overloads, and well... the world blew up. We're all in the US and some of us had massive changes due to the financial situation. Never fear, we're getting it together. As a matter of fact, we're getting together IN PERSON at the Ohayocon in Columbus Ohio at the end of the month.

Here's the deal. We're still accepting submissions. One of the things that has kept us hasn't just been life, submissions have been... well, light. We love this project and want to keep it up, but we need to start storing up submissions apparently.

What that means is that we will be on hiatus till the end of March (tentatively). During that whole time we will be reading and reviewing submissions. We will be updating more regularly with progress. At the end of march look for both an After Dark and a PDM issue to come out.

Sorry for the long delay guys, we still love you!

We need your submissions! Especially your holiday ones! We're keeping submissions open until MONDAY, Dec. 1 (that's tomorrow, folks!). As usual, if you haven't heard from us, give us a shout.

Follow the submission guidelines, see the holiday issue post, and mail them all to phoenixmonthly@gmail.com.

Have questions? Ask the FAQ!

We are keeping Issue #3 submissions open until the 25th of November (after Thanksgiving for the USA folks). Right now we have FOUR submissions in for this issue, which isn't nearly enough to publish!

As usual, if you haven't gotten an email from PDM stating that we've received your submission, comment and we will correct the problem.

After the 25th (consider it a NaNoWriMo break!), we will review all of our current submissions and tentatively publish on December 15.

The holiday theme is still open, and as usual, please review the Submissions Guidelines, the Issue Structure, and ask the FAQ if you have any questions.

We're still looking for submissions for Issue #3! We still have a good deal of space, so if you have something in mind, submit!

Special Holiday Section notes are here. Halloween is coming up, so if you end up writing or drawing something special for this holiday, please share it with us.

Submission Guidelines are here.

Happy Halloween, everyone!

Today's news/updates are short, sweet, and totally awesome!

  1. Issue #2 is up! If you've read it or poked at it, and you enjoyed it, please leave a comment and let us know -- your mods love feedback, and a few special people worked really hard on layout and organization for this issue. Even a few words of thanks are always appreciated!

If you have any recommendations or suggestions, that's awesome too! We're always looking to improve.

  2. We're collecting submissions for Issue #3! Issue #3 will feature a normal PDM layout as well as a special Holiday Section. Read more about it here, and then submit some more fantastic work using our Submissions Guidelines!

Issue #3 Submissions are open until November 3rd. You've got plenty of time, and you'll get plenty of reminders, but now's a great time to think about it and submit!

  3. We've changed our Issue Structure slightly. The main change is in our Classics section: we'll still be accepting Classics, but we won't be holding over any work from one month to the next. This means if your Classic work is rejected, it may be because we simply don't have enough room. You're always free to re-submit Classic work any time you like!

Full details can be read in the Issue Structure post, and questions can be asked in the FAQ.

Questions? Comments? Follow the links above to get in touch with us! Otherwise, keep writing and drawing -- we can't wait to see what you come up with for Issue #3!

Thanks again everyone for the wonderful submissions! Issue Two is ready to go and looks even better than the first one! We're excited and proud to get the chance to showcase the art and stories this way. It's been a real joy to put put this together!

Check out Issue #2 for yourselves.

As always, the issue is in PDF format. If you do not have a reader we recommend that you try Adobe Reader, PDF Escape Reader, or try Foxit Software's reader.

Issue #3 is open for submissions! Please see the FAQ, the Issue Structure, and Submissions Guidelines for details. All submissions should comply with our header policy, and should be sent to phoenixmonthly@gmail.com.

Remember, Issue #3 will also contain a holiday bonus section (see this post for more details), so keep that in mind when submitting! We will still be accepting all regular works for the issue.

We are working on the Issue #3 cover, and it is forthcoming!

Issue #2 is right on schedule; stay tuned for its posting on the 15th of this month.

Special bonus update: PDM: Afterdark has been open for submissions basically since before August, and we still don't really have enough material to fill an issue. The editors would like to know whether or not the community is even interested in a bonus erotica section, which might help us understand why a community usually so rampant with smut is not submitting! Please take a moment to answer the poll:

Poll #1274832 PDM: Afterdark
Open to: All, detailed results viewable to: All

Is anyone still interested in having PDM: Afterdark?

Issue #2 is being compiled! This means that everyone who submitted work for Issue #2 should have received their Accept/Reject/Holdover letters by now. If you haven't heard from the PDM mods regarding your Issue #2 Submission, please email us at phoenixmonthly@gmail.com and let us know.

Issue #2 will be published on Wednesday, October 15th! We're really excited -- Issue #2 has a lot of really good work.

Additionally, Submissions are officially open for PDM Issue #3 and for the Special Holiday Edition of PDM!

For Issue #3, we are changing nothing about our Regular Submissions -- we are still looking for high-quality fanfiction, fanart, and recommendations! However, we'd like to put together a small holiday section for this issue as well. The time-table for Issue #3 will be slightly expanded to reflect this.

More on the Holiday Special, if you're interested! Plus October's calendar )

If you're interested in submitting special holiday-themed work for the Special Edition, you should follow our Regular Submissions policy, and simply add "Holiday" into the subject line of your email. You are more than welcome to submit work for PDM's normal issue AND the Special Holiday Edition!

Ready for Issue #3? Submit all work using our Submission Guidelines and Forms -- it makes our lives a lot easier!

Any questions about issues, submissions, or the Special Holiday Edition can be asked on our friendly, screened FAQ!

Happy October, guys, and stay tuned for Issue #2 ... coming soon to a community near you!

Hello, folks! Thanks for all of your awesome submissions to PDM #2; we're looking forward to a great issue.

Issue 2 submissions close at midnight EST tonight! It's your last chance to get some awesome things in!

What does the submission closing mean to you? It means that in addition to the fact that we will no longer accept work until the submissions period for Issue 3, we are also gearing up to send out the next wave of acceptance/rejection emails. Per usual, keep all submitted fic and art locked/unposted until the second issue goes live. After that, you're welcome to post things wherever you want.

Any questions? Ask the FAQ!

Thinking about submitting for Issue 3 or a future Afterdark issue? Submission Guidelines and Issue Structure have the forms and rules all laid out.

Submissions for Issue 2 close on Monday, September 15th. That's not very far from now! We've actually gotten a decent spread of fandoms, but there are a couple things in particular we could use more of!

Art, drabbles, and recommendations. As well as some Humor!

In addition to normal stories (we don't make any final decisions until after all the submissions are in, so don't be shy!). As always, check out the Issue Layout and Submission Guidelines before sending us anything!

Thanks again to all those that have sent us things, we're REALLY excited.

Morning! Sorry that we updated late this week; like most of you, most of our staff returned to school. We are still taking submissions for all fandoms this issue, so if you have anything laying around to submit don't be shy!

We are still looking for art as well. This includes cover art for future issues. As always, please see the rules and requirements for posting. Have a great rest of the week!

I know it's Tuesday, but Monday was Labor Day for us. We have had wonderful submissions this month as well, it's very exciting for us. Every little submission fills us with glee. Keep them coming!

For everyone's benefit, here is the PDM Calendar for September:
Photobucket</a>

As you can see, we are closing submissions on the 15th. This is the same date that we have tentatively scheduled the release of our AfterDark issue. Depending on reception and submissions we are leaning to making this an quarterly project so we can dedicate more time to PDM itself.

Once again thank you all for the hard work and submissions. Keep them all coming!

Regards

Hello all, it's time for the Monday Update.

Fist thing is first: THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR THE SUPPORT! This project wouldn't be here without you and it is what it is because of all of your hard work just as much as our own. We already have a nice selection of submissions coming, please keep sending and we promise to keep reading!

What do we need for this issue?

We're still accepting for all fandoms in this issue, but we've yet to see anything from 2,3,5,8,9,or 10. If you have anything from these fandoms be sure to send it along as variety is the spice of life!

We also are having a shortage of art this issue and we DO accept cosplay pictures!

Lastly, we need more things for the AfterDark issue. We don't need hard core pornography or pictures. "Artistic" nudes work quite well and you can "fade to black" if need be. Please keep the submissions coming and as always check the submission instructions as listed before sending your work along to us for review!

Very Truly Yours

Sorry to seemingly drop off the face of the earth; but we're putting the final touches on the first issue now! Expect Issue 1 on Monday, August 18th. It may show up sooner, so watch this space!

We'll be starting to accept submissions for Issue 2 soon, and Afterdark, which is released delayed from PDM should also be coming out sometime later. Since this issue was mostly a learning experience for us, there will be better updates--and a calendar! We appreciate your patience and your participation in this little experiment and look forward to lots of issues to come!
