I received my Phoenix Parade dvd today!!!!! Aww....I'm getting so sentimental, watching it!
He wasn't kidding when he said the dvd version wasn't much better than the online version. You can't make out too many details 'cause the camera is a thousand and one feet away, and then there are occasional glitches (like during one of my songs), but it's still lovely to have!! Unfortunately I don't whose designs are whose. Does anyone know what the song is that is primarily gorgeous cello and/or bass, and only toward the mid-end does a marvelous male vocal come in? It's the designer that had those *amazing* asymmetrical cuts that met in front, and on taffeta.
ANYHOW, we're in business!! Let me know if you'd like a dvd! Feel free to leave your addy here, or if you'd prefer, email me at mercifl1 @ gmail dotcom.
If you want it sent Priority, please use the above email to send me five bucks through PayPal. Otherwise, I'll cover the cost, since it'll be minimal.
Perhaps you all might be willing to check out my jewelry website, once we get it up and running? I'm gonna call it The Elysian Aspect.
So YAY for the Phoenix Parade dvd!!!! Goodness, I'd love to do something like that again -- so much love and beauty in the room!! (What are you laughing about?? There was!!!)
P.S. I'm trying to get the video up on myspace, but I'm not sure it's possible or if you can download from there. (I have to convert the file to another format and I also don't know the time/size constraints. I'm working on it, but I'm still more than happy to get dvds out to you either way. |

| | Striken Morts | ] | My letter: Dear Kind Someday Lounge Person,
I wrote you some time ago about the possibility of obtaining a video of a performance I was in (/virtual_stage/archives/2007/0525). I'm sure the other participants (especially Kambriel, whose brainchild this was!) would be incredibly grateful if it was available for download or on youtube.
Any chance you can help me out? Again, I have to sing (har...I was the singer at the event) your praises, as that event meant so much to so many of us, and agreeing to have it at your wonderful club was a big part of that. We will always think of how much you rock for doing that, and visit whenever we're in Portland.
Thanks a million!
Elyse Reardon
Their response:
Hello! I just asked our tech guy to find and burn a DVD for you. When it's ready, I'll let you know and send it along to you.
-G
I will certainly advise when I have it, and if you want copies, maybe send me $5 for the dvd and S&H.
Wahoo!!
P.S. On second thought, you could go to my friend's site and donate the $5 there! Save Gobo All my friends know how desperate I am to help Sean out. (How the hell can he look that good when he's so sick?!!) Better yet, if you feel moved, add yourself to his Friends page for $20. As they say, "For every $30 we raise, we can help pay about an hour of Sean's CNA care so he can be at home between treatments.") It'd be awesome to fill up that page with the pretty people who participated in the Phoenix Parade!!! |

| Call for Designers and Models |
[Jan. 20th, 2008|10:17 pm] |
The New England Fashion and Design Association is holding a Faux Fur Fashion Show on Thursday, February 14th (Valentine's Day) as a benefit for the Humane Society of Westport, and is looking for designers to show their work. If you've done anything with faux fur, or would like to, this project promises to be lots of fun! The event will involve food, music, and dancing, and representatives from the Humane Society will be present with animals that are up for adoption. There's no minimum or maximum number of looks you need to have, as long as you can provide your own models. Up-and-coming designers who want to network and get your names out, and have fun doing it, this is the opportunity for you!
Send me an email at ann.with.no.e at gmail dot com if you are interested in participating! We are still accepting designers; the organizers are hoping to have as many people as possible participating!
Additionally, I need one extra model. Ideally I am looking for someone who is an industry size 8: Bust 35", waist 25", hip 36 1/2" or close to it, (I make most of my samples in size 8 because that's the size I wear) but I'm trying to make the sizing as flexible as possible, or can alter garments if necessary. Height isn't important, but I will ask for your stats. You should also be able to get to the NEF+DA's space in Norwalk, CT (near the South Norwalk train station) in the afternoon/evening on February 14th and own a pair of sexy black shoes or boots to wear on the runway. Alternative looks are a plus: tattoos, piercings, crazy hair, what-have-you. The looks are going to involve black and bright colored faux fur, with a rockabilly or cyberpunk flavor. It would also be great if you were available to meet with me for at least one fitting beforehand. Please email me if you think you would be interested.

[Jul. 27th, 2007|02:39 pm] |
I've finally had a chance to go through everything, and here are individual outfit and group shots taken for all of the designers in order of their appearance!
If you save any of these shots, please do so to your own computer/server since I'll be taking them off my website at some point. All photos were taken by circle23, so please be sure to give him proper credit if you use them.
( Links to all of the photos! )

| My videos. Let me show you them. |
[Jun. 8th, 2007|12:59 am] |
Trying to conserve my camera's battery, I only got a few clips! They're huge and kind of dark, but I have no video-editing software. So if any of you do & want to make them brighter or not so big, be my guest - this is direct off of my camera. All are in AVI format.
I will need to delete these by June 14, so if anyone wants to save & rehost, please do so - I'm currently exceeding my webspace quota by 35mb, and it gives me until then to bring it back into the allotted amount!
Kambriel's Tea Party Set (6.2MB)
To Die For Designs - _boxinghelena (2MB)
To Die For Designs - alicia_stardust (504 kb - very short!)
Original Sin Designs - trystbat and Korina (6.1 MB)
Kambriel's Dolls Escaped from the Asylum, specifically jola (which I found out today!) since I absolutely loved her dress. Also includes a little bit of the woman who came out after her. (3.9 MB)
Edit, June 14 - I had to take these down because of my webspace quota. I still have the videos if anyone wanted to save them but didn't get around to it, so I'm leaving the descriptions & sizes posted. |

| Songs for the Fashion Show... |
[Jun. 5th, 2007|10:45 pm] |
I know I already posted the setlist for Phoenix Parade but before I post it to my personal website I would like to get a complete list of the designers, and the songs that they had played during their shows. Kambriel and Three Crows have already chimed in but I'm looking for the others.
My thanks in advance.

[Jun. 2nd, 2007|07:50 pm] |
I've just finished posting my photographs of the show in the Gothic BC photo gallery, including backstage and rehearsal shots - 116 photos in total.
Models and designers, if you want higher resolution versions of any of the photos, please make note of the Ref ID (see the lower right corner of the caption box) of the photos you'd like and send me an e-mail at mbarrick@mbarrick.net. It will likely be a few days before I can respond, I'm a bit overwhelmed with work at the moment, but I'll do my best to get the pictures to you as quickly as possible.
Also, I notice that the Someday Lounge has the archive from their May 19th show posted today, hopefully the 25th isn't too far behind... |

| Phoenix Parade Setlist |
[Jun. 1st, 2007|10:28 pm] |
My apologies but the order of the designers and the songs they had accompany them were lost in the confusion of closing down and breaking down equipment. One last reflection of the event I want to share is the way that everyone just jumped in and did what needed doin'. To everyone who volunteered their time and went out of their way to make the show go flawlessly my thanks. You all simply restored my faith in the DIY ethic of the Goth Community that can often be lost in the midst of bigger and bigger events and festivals this year.

At long last, I just want to *sincerely* thank each and every one of you who came together to make this magical show possible. There was such a positive momentum that came from all of us working together, that I don't think anything could have slowed it down in the end. Every designer who had faith that this could be something truly special, every model who lent us their beauty and personality, the talented hair and makeup artists, locals who went above and beyond to help secure a venue, to those who showed up willing the lend a hand anywhere it was needed ~ from pulling curtains, to hanging a fantastic painted surprise banner, the djs, every single person who was there either back stage, on stage, or watching the stage. *ALL OF YOU* just glow in my eyes! :) |

Thank you SO much to kambriel who put together what was my favorite event of the entire weekend, and letting me take part in it. I can't even begin to express what it meant to me to see so many people pull together and make some real magic. It set the tone for the entire weekend and is something I will never, ever forget.
Thank you to kebechet for whipping together a fragrance to commemorate this event. Crumpet Rebellion is absolutely divine and I have been wearing it non-stop since I got it. It makes me happy and I will keep the bottle forever to remember that day.
I hope my t-shirt will come tomorrow!
Now then....please commence with the photo posting! :-D |
