I'm using Phoenix 1.9.6 to post to my journal. I've only just recently decided to start using tags, but I've noticed that when I post using Phoenix, and enter tags, they don't show up on my finalized post.

I'm using one of the old S1 styles for LJ on my journal, which means tags wouldn't show on my journal proper, but I should still be able to see the tags in the comments section of any given post. Unfortunately, they do not display on the comments page.

The weird thing is that if I edit a tagged post through the LJ site with my browser, I can see that the tags have actually written to the post, but they aren't viewable on the comments page.

This is fixable by editing the page through my browser on the LJ site, and not changing anything when the edit page loads, just hitting 'save'! That's kind of a backwards way of adding tags to my post, though.

Sorry if this isn't a clear description, I can clarify further if need be.

mass editing of friends [Jun. 19th, 2008|06:44 pm]

Hi! I'm trying to figure out how to add a huge number of friends to my LJ in one fell swoop, based on an existing friends list. Doing it manually would be a nightmare, so I'm kinda hoping there's a client that will let me copy and paste or somesuch.

Anyone know if phoenix_lj will do this, and if not, do any of you know of a client that will? OS X friendly is preferred, but if need be I can borrow a windows, linux, or other computer to get the deed done.

Thanks in advance!

Azren at 1.9.4 [May. 30th, 2008|08:01 am]

Hi,
Azren still says it's at 1.9.4 but when activating the "Check for updates" feature, it says Pheonix is up to date.
I'm presuming this means it's not really finding the correct files.
Please update Azren to include whatever features Pheonix has and I'd like to suggest allowing users to import our own pictures, so we can make our own default pictures for both Pheonix and Azren, it'd be really nice if you included a quick way to also change the default icon, but there are already ways to do this with a Mac and there's probably other stuff you're working on.

Thanks!

Custom filter error [Mar. 25th, 2008|08:43 pm]

I made a filtered post to LJ using Phoenix 1.9.6 today and discovered much to my chagrin that it didn't work. This error spoiled a surprise! The filter works when posting from LJ. Is there a problem with Phoenix? or do I need to update?

Is Phoenix Still Developed? [Feb. 26th, 2008|02:56 am]

[info]asqmh asked in a comment "Is Phoenix still being actively developed?" I figured that was a great question, and one that the whole community might like to hear the answer to.

So...
The short answer is "Yes, just not at this minute".

The long answer is: I'm working 75 hours a week right now and am a bit strapped for free-time. I'm also working on another non-programming related venture that is taking up a fair amount of time. I know they sound like lame excuses, and I am sorry for that. I have been keeping an eye on the latest features of livejournal and trying to keep a somewhat reasonable map of where I'd like to take Phoenix. So while it has been sometime since I have officially worked on Phoenix, it's still there in the back of my mind.

I'm hoping to be able to get a new version out this summer (when I spend a bit less time at my second job). Obviously, if anything critical happens before then and now that breaks the client (as has happened before) I'll do my best to rush out a fix.

Also, as much as I love the idea of Phoenix: Lite, that probably won't happen for a while. Unless I find myself with a sudden abundance of free time.

Thanks to everyone who still uses Phoenix for your patience and input:)

*EDIT* Also, I am looking into why Phoenix is not working on Leopard-based intel Macs. If I can find a fix, I'll release it as soon as I can.

Weird error message [Sep. 24th, 2007|03:02 pm]

disgracelands
I've just upgraded to 1.96, because 1.86 wouldn't load any more. I'm running Mac OSX version 10.3.9 but I can't post because I get this error message: "client error: Invalid text encoding: the text entered is not a valid UFT-8 stream"

Now this is an entry with no coding in it, no links, no LJ tags. Just me typing words. Any clues as to how to fix it?

Hello all,
I am a newcomer to Macland, and have found this wonderful client very useful. I did have a question though. Is there some way to adjust the timing on the 'Check Friends' function? It seems like it would be a great function, but the default of 10 hours (36000 secs) between checks makes it useless to me. Help?

Thanks to Thor, for making an excellent client (I tried iJournal first, and this is waaaay better)

Can I configure Phoenix to post to Insanejnl?
I'm not talking about cross posting (though that would be great if you could develop it) but just logging out of LJ and into IJ and using it to post there.

Thanks.

hello!

i've just downloaded this client. as far as i can tell, the client will support posting to different journaling services, but only separately (that is, there is no tool for posting the same entry to multiple journaling services simultaneously). i was wondering whether adding such a feature was something that you guys are contemplating.

(alternatively, if this is already a feature and i am just unable to locate it, please just point me in the right direction.)

many thanks!

NilObjectException [Jul. 10th, 2007|10:43 am]

Hi all! I'm brand new to this community, Phoenix, and only lately returned to the world of Mac. :) It's good to be back, let me tell you!

Anyway, so I was hunting around for LJ clients, and I came upon this one. It looks great but oddly enough, it just doesn't work. I downloaded 1.9.6, installed it, and as soon as I put the 2nd character in the Login name a window comes up:

An exception of NilObjectException was not handled.
The application must shut down.

Er. Help?

small problem [May. 12th, 2007|09:39 pm]

jmtorres
Hi! I just stumbled on a feature that kind of pains me.

If I make a filtered post with Phoenix, then edit-last to do something to it, the filter data goes away and it comes out as just friends-locked on my journal rather than filtered. As I say, a small problem. Makes it difficult to talk about people behind their backs, etc.

I have Phoenix 1.9.6, and OS 10.4.9. I also have my min security on LJ set to friends, I don't know if these entries would pop out to public if I didn't (I don't think so? Since I can choose to make entries public via editing).

Hide groups? [Mar. 18th, 2007|07:38 am]

Is there any way to change a setting on here so that the groups that one belongs to are hidden, just like you can hide "friend of" etc. ?

Can anyone recommend a good community on here for questions like I have asked, relating to mac issues, for a person like myself that is kind of new to mac (was a mac user, used a windows computer for about 4 years (yuck!!!) and I finally invested in this beautiful machine. I need a community where I can ask questions like the above and get answers like you guys have given me: clear, concise, and not criticizing me for being a "newb" (i hate that word, lol). Any suggestions??
Thank you,
Carrie

Desktop Icon...how do I get rid of it? [Mar. 17th, 2007|10:05 am]

[Current Mood | thoughtful]

Hi,
I have just downloaded Phoenix for Mac OS X version 1.9.6. It is a great program, runs great etc, however, I have a question that you might be able to help me out with. I am new to the Mac OS, (a thankful converted Windows user), and I notice every time I download a program, the app. Shows up as a white Hard-drive/external drive looking icon. Is there any way to get that off my desktop? I’ve tried dragging it into the applications folder, but that just makes a duplicate and the original stays on my desktop. Also, is there any way to also move/get rid of the phoenix196.dmg ? What is it anyway.

If you could help my with this problem I would be SOOOOOO thankful, as I have tried to download other freeware/software, and I notice the same thing happen; the white external-drive looking icon appears, and It seems as though Mac recognizes it as a disk drive? Because when you move it to the trash it says “eject” as If I was ejecting a junk drive, or other external hard drive.

There must be a way around this, or people’s desktops would be cluttered messes of these white hard-drive looking things!

If you could explain this, or direct me to a page that could explain this and the solution, I would be so grateful. It has been bugging me for a while.

thanks for any help you can offer!,
Carrie

Error! [Feb. 5th, 2007|10:41 pm]

the_sweet
The past few times I've tried to start up Phoenix, I've gotten this error:
An exception of class NilObjectException was not handled.
The application must shut down

I've done various Google searches, and apparently this is not a Phoenix or even Mac-specific error; it has to do with REALBasic. I believe there is a fix for it, but it must be done to the source code itself. I've also heard that increasing the memory (of the application, I presume) fixes the problem, but I wouldn't have the first idea of how to go about it.

I did manage to get into Phoenix after a few more attempts, but I do hope that this (which looks to be an annoying, recurring bug on my end, at least) will be resolved for a future release of Phoenix. :)
