| Phoenix Circle Village is now a registered theme camp at BM 2009 |
[May. 31st, 2009|03:22 pm] |
... The Blue_Godess of "Psybotik" & The Crew were introduced to the Phoenix Circle by the Tiny_Fire_Godess_Masae who wished to pay a visit to her old friend the Phoenix_Circle_Placement_Godess. "Psybotik" Crew liked what the eye could see and the ear could hear and as a token of appreciation they have gifted the Village people an Allnight_Electro_Music_Feast. and that was the pre-historic Burning MAN of 2008 -----------------------------------
\\Evolution has her own logic... This year is a start of a new Era for the Phoenix Circle Village. The Project has originated in 2008 as a 4-camps alliance of New York based community of Russian-Speaking burners with members traveling from far countries like Russia and nearby cities like San Francisco. The prerequisite was "self sustained" social units that share community projects in way of art, events and organization. The result was amazing... (people are still talking about it)
Over the course of the last year the Village has GROWN to emrbace the English-Speaking camp "Psybotik". The creative crew of "Psybotik" is a NYC-based group of elecrto-techno-trance music lovers: DJs,VJs, fire dancers, party organizers and promoters. It is interesting to add that all "Psybotik" activities are done at afterwork hours.... by people that hold "normal" office jobs. This favorable evolutional process tranfromed the "Russian-dominated" scene of the Phoenix Circle Village to become much more eco-social and fascinating.
Along with the evolving diversity another evolutional process has been taking place- that of generations going and generation coming. Out of 4 original camps- one camp is not going to make it and many "elderly" burners are skipping this year around. With the sadness of such realization, it is evolution of the tree growing new leaves and branches.
The members of the Phoenix Circle Village are mostly returning burners with 25% first-timers. 95% of us live and work in cities. Burning Man is a week of escape to an ideal city-where each of us can connect to the "precious-self" enjoying an amazingly supporting and open-minded community!
And... the plan for this year is: Lots of Evolutional fun! + Great Athmosphere in a glowing Black Light setting + Awesome music by "Psybotik " DJs and Friends! + Delicious Bar and our famous 4-5pm Smoothie Hour + Chillout Dome with Emmersive VJ projections + Workshops of Dance, Psychology and Relaxation + and last but not least- our diversed and incredible mixed community that speaks many different languages at home, but only one language on the playa- that of the burners.
It was a trully amazing experience for us last year to be on 7.15 & Esplanade and we are wishing to make it back to about the same hood. Evolved and improved, always growing and striving...for the individual, for the community. evolving...
// the man burns in less than 100 days!

[Oct. 24th, 2008|02:10 pm] |

Somebody was kind enough to post a picture of 2008's MOOP Map on EPlaya - it looks like Phoenix Circle is in the "Green" square on Esplanade between 7:00 and 7:30. (This is the best on their Red-Yellow-Green scale.) I hope I'm reading the chart right. But in any case, this means we did a good job cleaning up, and can all attend tomorrow's NY Decompression party with pride. |

| Tuesday's camp organizers meeting |
[Jul. 3rd, 2008|09:07 am] |
What we discussed:
- Fundraiser(s):
- Zheleznyak booked ChinaOne for Jul 31 (Thursday) for a party to do fundraising for us and ArtCar camp
- We may consider doing another fundraiser - perhaps in Anya R.'s loft
- Funds in general
- We should try to set and stick to a budget. If it is exceeded, we will collect money from people after the burn
- Currently we do not have enough to cover all our projects, but fundraiser may put us in the green.
- Generator(s)
- Miroslav (Highline) bringing one - need to find out capacity
- Danny & Regina will have one as well in their RV. Can it be run/refueled separately?
- When will they be available?
- Yura's camp was contemplating renting one as well if it's needed
- EL-wire tree
- A project by Goga (camp Highline)
- Will be a large umbrella with netting into which a bunch of EL wire will be woven - will look like Christmas tree
- Goga will look at the numbers and figure out a cost estimate.
- Initial estimate is $1,000 but it's not based on much, and is generally considered a bit much
- Should keep costs down by limiting it to EL wire, not shipping back to east coast.
- Pioneer Salute project
- Zhenya/Mila proposed this.
- A bunch of child mannequins, dressed in pioneer uniforms saluting american flag.
- They already have a couple of mannequins.
- The problem is getting them to the playa.
- One possibility is putting them on the RV coming from east coast (Danny&Regina)
- Shipping them via a major shipper is probably not worth it.
- Promenade
- A cemi-circle shape of about 35' in radius. This makes it 120 to 150 feet long.
- Will put up 13-15 poles spaced about 8-10 feet apart. They will be held by rebar/tension ropes.
- Ropes to be stretched between poles, with various sheets hanging off them (must be wind-proof)
- Maks K. will look at estimating the cost of the poles/ropes (Upd: his number is under $500)
- Sheets to be assigned to groups (probably 2-3 "panels" per camp) to do what they want
- We can put car ports next to promenade to allow for more sheets to be stretched/tied horizontally
- Promenade to be illuminated mostly by christmas lights
- Money ideas (in addition to fund raising - how camps can save if it's needed)
- Do not reimburse for communal dinners - everyone cooks one, so it's fair
- Ask members to bring chairs/pillows/other furniture - saves this from being a camp expense
- Kino-Dome
- Dome to be ordered soon (I placed the order tonight)
- Video mount (how will we attach to a dome which will "rock" in the wind and due to pressure)
- Video input (what kind of cable will connect projector to source?)
- Village-wide dinners
- One or two nights we will bring communal dinners into the village space to have all the 120 people mingle as we eat.
