Prompt Tips
Tips on the Prompts:
Ah, so you are interested! (Yes! :D) I won't give you specific story lines, but prompts are meant to tickle your imagination. Somewhere in your mind is a great story (or several!) waiting to be told.
1. BIRTH/LOSS: This doesn't have to be a person. It can be an object, a hope, an idea... anything. People hold onto different things for different reasons, so play with it.
4. INERTIA: "The characteristic of matter whereby a stationary entity remains stationary unless acted upon by an outside force or whereby an object in motion stays in motion unless acted upon by an outside force." -Wordplay: The Philosophy, Art, and Science of Ambigrams, John Langdon
5. SYZYGY: "The joining of two entities, without loss of identities." -Wordplay: The Philosophy, Art, and Science of Ambigrams, John Langdon
9. ORIENTATION: (o·ri·en·ta·tion n.) can mean any of the following:
_The act of orienting or the state of being oriented.
_The direction followed in the course of a trend, movement, or development.
_A tendency of thought; a general inclination: a Marxist orientation.
_Sexual orientation.
_An adjustment or adaptation to a new environment, situation, custom, or set of ideas.
_Introductory instruction concerning a new situation: orientation for incoming students.
_Awareness of the objective world in relation to one's self.
11. EXTRINSIC: Bearing some relation to something else.
18. AND IF THE ANSWER'S NO / CAN I CHANGE YOUR MIND?: These are lyrics from The Killers's song Change Your Mind. It's about choice and making changes... and it also happens to be one of my favorite songs, so it's a win/win. :D
19. CAUGHT IN THE FORM OF LIMITATION: This is from Burnt Norton, the first in T.S. Eliot's Four Quartets. It's without a doubt one of the most beautiful poems ever written. You can read the entire thing here.
